illiam G. Robey Jr., 91, of Oxon Hill, MD passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Bill was a U.S Army veteran of World War II and was active in several military organizations. He learned to drive heavy equipment in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and after discharge from the Army started working part time as a tour bus driver. He eventually started driving buses full time, and spent many years driving and conducting tours all over the United States and Canada. Bill was also a licensed tour guide for many of those years, finally retiring in Jan 1992. He had a keen interest in family history and genealogy and was a clearing house for family information going back as far as the 1600’s. He authored a book on the Robey/Robie/Roby Family History, and it was published by Heritage Books in August 1994. He is also the author of the CD ROM version, published in 2002. Served as President of the Robey/Robie/Roby Family Association from its founding in Waldorf, MD., in 1993, thru 2008. Was President of the Prince George's County, MD., Genealogical Society from 1998 to 2000. Also served as President of the Genealogical Council of Maryland from 1998 until 2001. A widow since 1985, Bill is survived by his brother, James M., sons Brian and Ken, daughter-in-law Heidi, and grandsons Jefferey and Matthew. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date for friends and family.
