illiam “Bill” Vincent Ryon, Jr., 82, a 10-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Lusby, MD died on May 29, 2010 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home of Parkinson's Disease after a lengthy illness. Born March 27, 1928 in Washington, D.C., he graduated from Hyattsvile High School. William served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. Bill started selling Fords in 1964 in Upper Marlboro, MD. He worked for Foley Ford for 24 years and for 10 years with Bob Bell Ford and Ron Bortnick Ford. During that time, he won every available award that Ford had for truck sales. He said, that he could never of won those awards if it wasn't for two things: “The Best Product, Bar None” and “The Best Customers”. He led the Washington District (which includes Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia). He was consistently within in the top 5% for the country in sales in the late 60's, 70's and 80's. After a short retirement, he went to work at Dorsey Gray Ford in Prince Frederick, MD. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and the Izaak Walton League of America. Bill loved fishing and was an avid Redskins Fan. The family wishes to express its thanks and appreciation to the staff of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home for their kindness, friendship, love and care given to Bill during his time there, they are truly Angels of God. Bill is survived by his brother-in-law, George (Jackie) Wyvill; his nephew, John J. Wyvill; his nieces, Deborah (Gary) Wyvill Curry, Pamela (Chris) Wyvill Helminiak; his great-nephew, Patrick M. Curry and Ryon W. Helminiak; his great-niece, Lauren N. Helminiak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Davidson and William Ryon, Sr.; his wife, Dixie Ryon; his sister, Norma Ryon Wyvill; and his great-nephew, Christopher Ryon Curry. Friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Thursday, June 3 from 4 to 7pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 4 at 12pm at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Charlotte Hall Veterans Home TV Fund, 29449 Charlotte Hall Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
