illiam “Bill” Franklin Sheridan, 89, a long time resident of Edgewater, MD, died on January 6, 2024 at AAMC after a brief illness. Bill was born in Washington, DC on June 17, 1934. He grew up in Edgewater, MD (Woodland Beach) and then raised his family in Loch Haven in Edgewater. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1952 where he was active in sports playing both baseball and football. He was a veteran in the Army during the Korean War and also served as a Chinese linguist with the Navy for nine months. He worked for AT&T for 36 years and served as the Vice President and President of Local 2390 of the Communication Workers of America. He was very proud of his accomplishments as the head of the union as he regularly wore his blue union jacket many years after his retirement. Bill started the former Edgewater football team and served as a coach of football and baseball for many years, along with being the President of the Edgewater Athletic Club. Preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Elizabeth Lee and Franklin Fisher Sheridan, and his daughter, Pamela Rice, Bill is survived by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Bettie Sheridan; son, William Sheridan and daughter, Kimberly (Bill) Grimsley of Edgewater; sister, Frances Rettstatt of Leonardtown, MD.; Grandchildren, Jenna Rice of Lemon Grove, CA, Elizabeth Sheridan of Edgewater, MD, Tyler (Jude) Grimsley of Copenhagen, Denmark, Lauren (Kevin) Walker of Alexandria, VA, and Patrick Grimsley of State College, PA, and Great Granddaughter, McKenna Walker of Alexandria, VA. Services will be private.
