illiam Austin "Bill" Whesdos, 54, a resident of Annapolis for 18 years, died of melanoma Oct. 12 at Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center after an 18-month illness. Mr. Whesdos was born March 14, 1953, in Virginia Beach, Va., where he resided prior to moving to Annapolis. He graduated from First Colonial High School in 1971 and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., in 1975, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and an avid Hokies fan. He worked for ARINC in Annapolis as a communications engineer for 18 years. His interests included sailing, collecting fine wines, running, travel and research. Surviving are his sister, Joanne Griggs of Virginia Beach; and a nephew. He was the son of the late Paul L. and Gloria E. Whesdos and brother of the late Paul Terry Whesdos. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday October 17 at 11:00am at Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N. Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach.
