William Woolls - Obituary

illiam S. “Bill” Woolls, 88, of Edgewater died Tuesday, September 11 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was born on January 24, 1924 in Washington, DC to the late Seymour Birch and Helen Marie Woolls. Bill graduated from St. John’s College High School in Washington and then served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He completed his education at the Ben Franklin Institute and pursued a career in accounting. Bill retired as Comptroller of National Capital Industries. He was a loyal Redskins fan and attended two Super Bowls with the entire Woolls clan. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his stepmother, Margaret Woolls; two brothers and their wives, Leo (Rita) and Robert (Rose) Woolls; four sisters and their husbands, Helen (James) Martin, Kathryn (Stewart) Magill, Esther (Richard) Murphy and Margaret (Robert) DeLartique; two step brothers, Allan and Bernard Jones and Bernard’s wife, Trude and one step sister and her husband, Evelyn (James) McLarney. He is survived by his wife, Fern E. Woolls. Friends are invited to Bill’s Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.on Sunday, September 16 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road., Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 17 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road., Edgewater, MD. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
