ilmore Ritchie Sr.
On Monday, July 27, 2020, Wilmore Ritchie Jr. age 68 transitioned to his eternal resting place. He passed away at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD.
Wilmore was born in Miami, Florida, on January 29, 1952, to parents of Leona Elizabeth Rolle-Ritchie and Wilmore Ritchie Sr.
Wilmore graduated from Miami Edison High School. He was placed in the Hall of Fame in 2019 with numerous accolades. Wilmore graduated from the University of Miami and was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity along with other organizations. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the Oakland Raiders. After a short term with the Raiders, he worked with the Federal Government. Later, he joined in the United States Army where he acquired a 22 year career. Wilmore retired in 1999. After the Army, he served as an CEO at a Computer Consulting Services. He loved to be around his friends and family and was dedicated to them. He had a huge heart and an infectious laugh, that will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved brothers Michael Ritchie Sr and Erskine Ritchie. He is survived by his wife, Laurana Ritchie; his children, Wilmore Ritchie III, John Ritchie, Barrington Ritchie and Laura Ritchie: His grandchildren, Daveion Lewis, Wilmore Ritchie IV, and Justin Ritchie; his siblings, Elaine Levarity (David), Earlene Lee, Glenn Ritchie, Debra Thomas, Herbert Ritchie Sr. (Joyce), Claude Ritchie Sr., Levingston Ritchie, Michelle Allen, Joan Jones, Andrea Ritchie, Jacquline Mitchell, Paulette Williams, and Eddie Lee Jones. He leaves to mourn and cherish a host of sorrowing relatives, friends, football family and distinguished coaches.
A memorial service will be held at the Old Post Chapel on Fort Myer, VA at a later date. The interment with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Please check back for updated information.
