Winifred Fajen - Obituary

inifred Mae Fajen passed away on November 15, 2012 at the age of 85 in her home in Oxon Hill, Maryland, surrounded by friends and family. She was born on March 24, 1927 in Bogota, New Jersey and lived the first part of her life in New York City. She graduated from George Washington HS in 1945. She was a big fan of Frank Sinatra and during her high school years she would skip school to watch him perform with the Tommy Dorsey Band at the Paramount movie theater before heading to her part-time job at Macy’s. She later worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In 1952 she married William Fajen who was her next door neighbor. She moved to Oxon Hill, Maryland, in 1966. She loved gardening, painting, reading, making Christmas ornaments, her many pets (from dogs and cats to hermit crabs), beach vacations up and down the east coast, her many collections and raising her family. She was a remarkable woman who was very much loved and will be sorely missed. She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Laura Walter and her husband William Fajen. She is survived by her daughter, Karen of Oxon Hill and daughter Susan and son-in law Earl Buffaloe and granddaughters, Cody and Casey of Chesapeake Beach, MD, her sister Joan Dempsey of La Plata, MD, niece Jody Chairamonte of Sandy, Utah, and grand nephews Frank and Tony Chairamonte. Funeral service will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 5203 St. Barnabas Road, Temple Hills, Maryland on December 22, 2012 at 11 A.M.
