arl Joseph Konzman of Fort Washington, MD died at the age of 95 on the 14th April 2025 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Virginia of cardiac arrest. Carl was born in Dickson City, Pennsylvania on 3 March 1930 to the late Alfred and Mary Konzman. He spent much of his youth on the family farm in Forest City, PA, which he was very fond of. He attended Forest City High School. He became a career military serviceman, retiring after 20 years of service. He served in both the Army and the Air Force. During his military career he served in the Army Tank Corp in the occupation of Germany after World War II, and reenlisted in the U.S. Air Force during which he served in Vietnam. He married Jean Marie Tagler of Union Dale, PA in 1956, and they had two children Eleanor Jean Konzman and Carl Frank Konzman. After retiring from his military career, Carl settled in Fort Washington, Maryland and dedicated himself to caring for his children and family. He also enjoyed the hobbies of growing roses, collecting antiques, and making jewelry. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Fort Washington, Maryland. Carl was also a long time member of the American Legion Post 0524 in Forest City, Pennsylvania, where he was currently one of the oldest living members. He also was a founding/charter member of The Air Force Sergeants Association. Carl celebrated his 95th birthday on March 3rd, 2025. He was a wonderfully loving husband and father. He supported and loved his children unconditionally. He gave of himself selflessly and was always willing and ready to help anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor, a warm smile and made friends where ever he went. He was the bravest person you could ever meet and was fearless when facing any obstacle in life. He was very proud of his military service and loved his country. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a beautiful light in this world and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him. He is survived by his wife Jean Konzman, one brother, Emil Konzman, of Forest City PA, his daughter Eleanor Jean Konzman and her partner William Moran II and their son, William Moran III, and his son Carl Frank Konzman and his wife Roya Konzman and their daughter Naz Jean Konzman, and three stepchildren, Lina, Tameen (wife Nicole), Sadaf and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Konzman and Ludwig Konzman and a sister Velma Konzman. Relatives and friends are invited to Carl's Life Celebration on Friday, April 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Carl's wishes were to be cremated after his life celebration and at a later date to have church services in Forest City, PA and to be buried in Union Dale Cemetery.
