loise “Ellie” Tarter of Annapolis, MD passed away on May 12, 2024. She was born on February 16, 1931, in Ivan, AR to the late Lucy and Harvey Taylor. Ellie graduated from Fordyce Arkansas High School in 1949 and after working for E.B. & F.R. Bloom Insurance Company she came to Washington D.C. where she worked for the CAA (now the FAA). She retired in 1993 from NASA as a financial analyst. Ellie enjoyed tennis into her 80’s, reading, traveling, and winters in Boca Raton, FL. Ellie was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert Charles Tarter Sr.; her son, Robert “Bobby” Tarter, Jr. and her long-time companion, Fred Greene. She is survived by her loving daughter, Judith Tarter of wherever her RV takes her; her step-daughter, Deborah Greene of Annapolis, MD; her sister, Lucy Mirabella of Augsburg, Germany; her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Tarter of New Carrollton, MD; her grandson, Taylor (Grace Fitzpatrick) Tarter and her great-granddaughter, June Elizabeth. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, as well as Tiffany Flagg, her wonderful caregiver who became part of the family. Friends are invited to celebrate Ellie’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Friday, May 17 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at noon which will be officiated by Rev. John Burns (retired). Interment will be private at a later date at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the University Baptist Church Food Pantry, 3515 Campus Dr., College Park, MD 20740.
