inda Darlene Covington, 76, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, MD passed away on January 29, 2026 at Gilchrist Center Howard County in Columbia, MD. Born on September 1, 1949 in Annapolis to the late Rebecca Elizabeth and Howard Lane Stokes, Linda graduated from Annapolis High School then worked for both Nationwide Insurance and R.E. Robertson Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and the Ladies of the Elks. Linda also enjoyed socializing, playing bingo with her friends and trips to the beach. Above all this, Linda loved sharing her life with Jim, her high school sweetheart in 1970 and her loving friends and family. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Douglas Covington. She is survived by her daughters, Crystal (Douglas Alexander) Covington-Alexander of Bowie, MD and Jaime (Mike) Weaver of Phoenix, AZ, and her granddaughter, Whitney Weaver. Linda is survived by her sister, Rebecca Fenzel.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda’s life and share memories on Thursday, February 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, and again on Friday, February 6 from 10 to 11 am, followed by her funeral service at 11 am. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401.
