S

tanley Joseph Stankiewicz died on March 20th, 2025, after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. He was 89 years old. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Joseph, daughter-in-law Sandra, and three grandchildren: Joel, Isabel, and Timothy. He was born on July 27, 1935, to Anna Rypsky and William Stankiewicz in Syracuse, NY. He grew up working in his father and uncle’s garage and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was also on the crew team. After graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C., and began a career working for the Navy Department. Stan had many interests but especially enjoyed anything that had to do with water. As a member of the Potomac Boat Club, he and his buddy Roger Van deMeulebrocke won many medals racing canoes. He also enjoyed sailing. Later in life he spent time volunteering with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and in the workshop at the College Park Aviation Museum. He was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic minister. He is most remembered as a nice guy always willing to lend a hand. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Stan's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary's Annapolis, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 or online HERE Services are currently being planned.
