Marjorie Ann Dykton nee Jacobson, age 92, of Forestville, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at her home. Born on May 2, 1928, in Black River Falls, WI, she was a daughter of the late Hansel and Agnes (Thompson) Jacobson and grew up in Pigeon Falls, WI. After her high school graduation, she moved to Washington DC where she worked for the U.S. Post Office, before raising her family. Her husband, Thomas Michael Dykton, predeceased her. 

Marge loved life and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an avid quilter, incredible baker, member of the Ladies of Charity, volunteer at Forestville Pregnancy Center for eight years, and a parishioner of Mt. Calvary Catholic Church for 58 years. She had the best laugh and a great sense of humor. 

Loving mother of Marjorie (Michael) McCawley of Morgantown, WV; Marilyn Jacobs of Silver Spring, MD; Michael (Theresa) Dykton of Severn, MD; Christopher (John Monnett) Dykton of Arlington, VA; Elizabeth (Rose Kurtz) Dykton of Baltimore, MD; and Janet (Jan Zanger) Dykton of Woodbine, MD. Sister of Elizabeth Jacobson of Minneapolis, MN; Roger Jacobson of Phoenix, AZ; and Shirley (Angelo) Munoz of Beloit, WI, and the late Jeanette (late Leonard) Caracciolo, Robert (late Revee) Jacobson, Irene (late Leo) Chevalier, and Richard (late Mary) Jacobson. Sister-in-law of Michalene (late Richard) Krzeminski and late Helen (late Charles Raymond) Burg.

Ethel "Bobbie" Bold, 76, of Chester, MD and previously of Davidsonville, MD passed away at her home on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Bobbie was born on September 24, 1944, in Washington, DC to the late, Richard and Ethel Sinclair. After high school, Bobbie worked for the National Geographic Society while attending an orthodontic nursing program. She had a successful career in the field for 35 years.

Bobbie enjoyed antiquing and turned that passion into a business, Sisters Two Antiques, a joint venture with her sister, Florence and husband, Bob. She also spent countless hours researching genealogy, especially making trips to the National Archives.  She was a member of the United Methodist Women of Calvary United Methodist Church, and the Davidsonville Chapter of the Ruritan Club.

Bobbie will be remembered most for the love she had for her family and her dedication as wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; her children, Sharon (Ken) Merkel, and Dan (Heather) Bold both of Stevensville; granddaughter, Rebecca Merkel, a sister, Florence Marshall of Lewes, DE, and a nephew, Scott Sinclair Hall of Seattle, WA.

Francis J. McGee was born on December 8, 1930, to Fannie N. Harper and Edgar B. McGee in Alexandria, Virginia.

He attended Parker Gray High School and received his degree from North Carolina Central University.  While at NCCU, Francis was inducted into the army and served three years in Germany. He returned to the States and completed his education at North Carolina Central University. 

He met and married Mary M. Hamner of Lynchburg, Virginia and settled in Washington, D.C.  He lived in Washington, D.C. until his death always staying close to his beloved city of Alexandria, Virginia.

Francis worked in Social Services and as an Interstate Compact Officer, law and enforcement both in the District Government and private sector.  He retired in 1999, after the death of his wife Mary.

Francis was the ultimate athlete.  He played basketball, football and baseball while attending Parker Gray.  He was part of the “Dream Team,” All Star basketball and football players in the D.C. Metro area.  He went on to earn a football scholarship to NCCU.  While in the U.S. Army he played baseball.  Francis continued to play football with local teams in the D.C. area and enjoyed bowling in leagues.  Later in life he became an avid swimmer.  He swam twice a week at the Aquatic Center in Capital Hill, D.C. until he could no longer, at the age 87.

Francis also enjoyed watching and attending college basketball and football games.  During his lifetime he attended some of the most notable college sports events for African Americans; like in 1966 when Texas Western College won the NCAA men’s college basketball final at College Park.  He was also in attendance when Marvin Webster the “Human Eraser” led Morgan State to the NCAA Division II National Championship. 
 
One of Francis’ favorite past times in his mature years was following the careers of his grandsons, Eddie and Chris.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandson Eddie play football at the University of Illinois in Champaign, and made sure to watch every single game.  He would even call the local reporters in Champaign to correct them if he felt they got the story wrong.  Francis also took great pride in his grandson, Christopher, whose talents excelled both on the football field and creatively through visual and performing arts.

Francis was a long standing member of Alexandria Elks Lodge #48.  His membership in the Elks Lodge gave him opportunities to socialize and cultivate lifelong friendships while improving the Alexandria community.

One of the most important things in life to Francis was his family.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mary McGee and Brother Edgar B. McGee.  He will be deeply missed by his Sister Lucretia Mundy, all his children, grandchildren, extended family, and everyone whom he called friend.


Adamo "Adam" Mistichelli a lifelong resident of the Edgewater area passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Adam was born in Washington, DC on December 28, 1968 to Tito and Maria Mistichelli. He attended South River High School. Adam had two strong passions in life, cooking and cars. Over the years he has worked for La Fontaine Bleue and Mother's Peninsula Grille both in Glen Burnie, Chick and Ruth's in Annapolis as well as several other local restaurants. Adam also worked on cars in the area spending time at Jack the Greek in Annapolis. He was best known by his family and friends for replicating his mothers fried cauliflower recipe, as well as his pork chops, pasta and sauce. Adam is survived by his two daughters, Caty and Sierra Mistichelli both of Edgewater; his parents, Tito and Maria Mistichelli of Crognaleto, Italy; his siblings, John Mistichelli and his wife Noel of Cartersville, VA and Maria Mistichelli of Virginia Beach, VA. Floretta B. “Soey” McFadden, 93, died on October 3, 2020 at her residence in
Annapolis, MD due to congestive heart failure. Born on February 20, 1927 in
Columbus, OH to the late John and Mary Poeppelmeyer, Floretta was raised by her
grandparents, William and Erma Beasley, and moved with them to Sharon, PA, as a
young girl. They later relocated to Youngstown, OH during her later childhood. She
was introduced to George McFadden from Sharon as a young adult and they
married in 1948. As a military family they lived in numerous locations within the
United States and abroad and returned frequently to Sharon for family visits. They
finally settled on Turkey Point in Edgewater, MD in 1987. In 2018, she relocated
to Brightview Senior Center in Annapolis where she resided until her death. In her
spare time, Floretta enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by
her beloved husband of 63 years, George L. McFadden, Jr. and her son, Mark
McFadden. She is survived by her children, Kenneth McFadden, Kathleen Dupuis,
Robert McFadden, George McFadden, III and William McFadden; her
grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, John, Megan, Jennifer, Bryan, Kelly, Kevin,
Zachary, Patrick, Nicholas and Elizabeth and 9 great grandchildren. Friends are

Mary Enola Hayes, age 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Harwood, Maryland. 

Mary was born January 9th, 1941 in Opelousa, Louisiana to Herbert Broussard and Edna Jean. She graduated in 1961 from W.O. Boston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She married Arthur J. Hayes on March 15, 1961, in a courthouse ceremony. She remained for three months in Lake Charles to finish her high school diploma and then joined her husband in Los Angeles, California. Later that year, her marriage was blessed in a Roman Catholic ceremony.

Mary is survived by her husband Arthur, their three sons and their spouses; Mark and his wife Joy, Glenn and his wife Cheryl, Derek and his wife Kim; her sister Geraline James, brother Cleveland Broussard, six grandchildren; Arleta and her husband Forrest, Byron and his wife Emily, Mark II and his fiancé Stefanie, Parker, Zoe and her husband Benjamin, and Moya; and two great-grandchildren, Roman and Ada.

Mary was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. In 1965, she was among the very first volunteers for Head Start, a United States Department of Health and Human Services program. She volunteered many hours assisting low-income children in need. She also worked as a volunteer with children in Physical Education and The Cub Scouts. She had a passion for Home Economics and worked as a seamstress in Los Angeles, until eventually becoming a full-time homemaker after the birth of her first son. In 1969, she moved with her husband to Washington, D.C., where she has lived ever since. 

Mary had a passion for the theater and often attended performances at the Kennedy Center and Arena Stage. Mary was also a master chef. She loved to bake and cook everything but her specialties were gumbo and rum buns. She had a cheerful heart and was ready with a kind smile for everyone she met. Mary will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2210 Callaway St, Hillcrest Heights, MD 20748. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery to follow.

Charles E. Griffith, Jr., “Charlie”, 82, a lifelong resident of Lothian, passed away on September 30, 2020 in Washington, D.C.

Charlie was born on September 6, 1938 to the late Charles E., Sr. and Rosie O’Neill Griffith. He was a graduate of Southern High School.

A lifelong farmer, he also worked at Farmers National Bank in Annapolis and later owned and operated Olde Solomons Wine and Spirits in Edgewater.

Charlie was a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. His interests included; Hunting, fishing, working on the farm and watching all University of MD sports.

He was the beloved husband of Charlotte Griffith, father of Charles Griffith, III and his wife Donna of Hershey, PA., brother of J. Paul Griffith, Charlotte Ann Windsor, Kathleen Moran and Frances Collinson. He is also survived by his grandsons, Charlie Griffith, IV and Eli Griffith.

Elwood Jennings Dove (Woody) passed away Sunday morning, 9/27/2020. He was 81 years old. Woody was born at Sibley Hospital in Washington DC on May 27, 1939, and grew up in Hyattsville, MD. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1957. He started working at Safeway Grocery Store as a produce manager and then moved to the US Postal Service, wherein 2014 he retired after 43 years of service.

Woody married Nancy Dove in 1974. They moved to their home in Davidsonville, MD, with their three daughters. Nancy passed away in December 2010. He then moved to Heritage Harbor in 2014, where he resided until his death. 

Woody was an active member at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship and a Trustee for 8+ years. During his twenties & early thirties, he weekly drove the Riverdale Baptist Church Bus transporting children and teenagers to church. Inspired by his father’s passion for azaleas, he ran a local azalea business for 20 years part-time. In addition to his interest in azaleas, he had a love for his dachshund dog Dopey, plus fishing and sports cars, which he was studious about keeping his cars in like-new condition. Woody was a sports enthusiast who was a long-time supporter of the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. Throughout his life, Woody continued to take part in his love for landscaping, azaleas and planting annual flowers.

He is survived by his daughters: Michelle Mandeville& husband Chris, Rachael Marie Arciaga & husband Michael, and Deborah Anne Dove; siblings: Hilda, wife of the late Ira Linwood Dove, Linda Dove Armstrong & husband Tom, Nona Dove Ricker & husband Phil; nephews: Donald S. Bright II, Philip & Jimmy Ricker; and niece: Chrissy Campitelli. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Woody's life on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 6pm until a funeral service begins at 7 pm at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11 am at Fort Lincoln Cemetery 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland, next to his wife and parents. Paul Michael Miller, beloved brother, husband, father, and Pop-Pop, passed away peacefully in his home on September 27, 2020. 

Paul was born July 17, 1953 in Prince George's County, Maryland. He grew up playing sports with the Lanham Boys Club and spent many weekends on the shores of Cobb Island with his family. After graduating from Duval High School in 1971 he went on to join his father in the printing industry. From humble beginnings mixing ink, Paul built a successful career as a salesman because of his dedication to his colleagues and customers, many of whom became friends. 

Paul was a caring, loyal and devoted family man. His passion was golf and he enjoyed many rounds with family and friends at his home course at Prince George’s Country Club, along with trips to courses from Myrtle Beach to Delaware. Paul never missed a sporting event for his daughters. From coaching softball to learning how to tack up a horse, he was constantly engaged and supportive of their pursuits. In recent years, one of Paul’s greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren. 

Paul is preceded in death by his father, Robert Irving Miller. He is survived by his wife of over 45 years Janice Miller, daughters and sons-in-laws Tracie Meerholz and Collin Meerholz, Kelly and Guston Montes de Oca, grandchildren Camdyn, Leighton and Case, and siblings Robert Miller, Jr. (Alice), Kathleen Peterson (David), Lizbeth Smith (Steve) and Lynn Marselas. Paul was blessed to have a steadfast and loving support system throughout his life, including Sallie Craig (Robert), numerous aunts and uncles, extended family and many great friends. 

Paul and his family were blessed to have received the incredible gift of life through organ donation, enabling Paul to be present for wonderful memories with family and friends over the past three years. Jerry Dean Cook, age 73, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Clinton, MD. He was born on May 26, 1947 in Orchard, Nebraska to Wesley and Twila Bradley Cook. 

He enlisted in the Navy in 1965 where he spent three years on active duty. He worked most of his life as a mechanic, working on cars and trucks. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Roselyn Cook; his siblings, Harley (Janet) of Hollywood, MD, Lynn of Albany, GA, Lyle (Joyce) of Cole Ridge, NE and Dale (Connie) Cook of Cavour, SD and Bonnie Jaqua of Sioux City, IA. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Donald White LeCrone, 83, died September 25, 2020 at his home in Fort Washington, Maryland.  A visitation will be held this Saturday, October 3, 2020, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD. Mr. LeCrone is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kay (Panero), a daughter, Deborah (Kim) and her husband Doug Knox, a son, David and his wife Lynda, two granddaughters, Nicole LeCrone (Brian Ward), Samantha LeCrone, and one great-granddaughter, Presley Ward. 
Mr. LeCrone was born on December 19th, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Pauline (White) and Donald LeCrone.  He earned his Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma.  This is where he met his wife Carolyn.  Following their marriage on June 24, 1962, they relocated to Maryland where Mr. LeCrone worked for the Bureau of Census for 10 years before joining the United States (U.S.) Patent and Trademark Office in 1972.  Mr. LeCrone retired in 1992 as the Deputy Director for Systems Development and Maintenance, where he oversaw automation development activities for issuing U.S. patents and trademarks.   
Mr. LeCrone was a longtime member (1967) of Tantallon Country Club and played with  the Senior Men’s Golf Association (SMGA). He was also a member of the unofficial golf group known as the “Wet Shoes”.  Mr. LeCrone loved the Washington Redskins, and as every fan he held out hope that this would be their year. He loved reading, playing cards and doing sudoku puzzles.  Tantallon neighbors know him best from seeing him enjoying a glass of wine with his wife in the evenings by their pond.

Richard Strucko, age 87, a resident of Annapolis for the past 53 years, died Friday, September 25, 2020 surrounded with love.  

Richard was born December 31, 1932 in Plymouth, PA, the son of the late Mary and Walter Strucko. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 in Hq Co, 123 Inf Regt, 44th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. 

Working full-time at A&P Grocery and using the GI Bill, he worked his way through college graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1960. 

He worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation for five years and 37 years for the Department of the Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Annapolis where he was a senior program manager.  He earned a Master’s Degree in 1968.  After retiring from government service, he worked for another four years as a contractor at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. 

He married Jean Williams Hadaway in 1968 at the Eastport United Methodist Church. Richard later became a devoted member of the church and he and Jean played together in the Heavenly Bells Handbell Choir for many years.

Richard was hard working, generous, caring and loyal.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Naval Academy Golf Association where he once scored a hole-in-one.  He bowled in the Officer’s and Faculty Club men’s bowling league.  He also enjoyed classical/opera music, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and reading.

He enjoyed coaching his sons little league baseball, taking them bowling and ice skating, assisting with homework, and especially their activities with the YMCA Father and Son Indian Guides where they lived up to the motto of “Pals Forever”.

After retirement, he and his wife Jean traveled extensively including trips to Alaska, Europe, Central America, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and his ancestral family home of Poland.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother Robert Strucko. He is survived by his wife, of over 52 years Jean Williams Strucko; sons and daughters-in-law, Warren Edwin and Pamela Hadaway of Severn, MD and Richard Charles and Inga Strucko of Chester, MD; grandchildren, Kevin, Shannon, and Ricky; great-grandchildren Keith and Hannah Jean; three siblings, Carol West, Janet Bancroft, and Dale Strucko.  Friends and family are invited to a gathering on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 10 am to 11 am at Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis, MD outside under the tent. A funeral service will be held inside the church beginning at 11 am. To adhere to CDC guidelines masks and social distancing will be required.

Steven Keith Prutting of Shady Side, MD, and previously of Long Island, NY passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020. He was born the youngest son of the late Clarence and Gloria Prutting in Amityville, NY on November 28, 1954. Steve was a gifted woodworker who used his talents to create beautiful homes in such places as Fire Island, NY, and Gibson Island, MD. His attention to detail led him to become a site supervisor where he mentored others to develop their skills.  Steve also enjoyed being outside hunting for deer, fishing, and working in his yard. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Prutting. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Prutting; three children, Josef Hermann and his wife, April of Hampton Roads, VA, Steven, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of South Hampton, NY, and Caitlyn and her husband, Maxwell Anderson of Friendship, MD; brother, Kenneth and his wife, Anita of Stuart, VA; grandson, Hunter;  and several other nieces and nephews. Elvira Rebecca Bagares, 92, of Lothian, MD, and previously of Alexandria, VA passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Elvira was born in the Philippines on December 27, 1927, to the late Francisco and Melchora Bagares. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, she immigrated to the United States in the 1950s. Elvira worked as an administrator for the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC until she retired in 1986. Elvira traveled the world, was an avid photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of both people and places. Elvira spent her retirement years enjoying being a grand and great grandmother and was known and loved as “Grandmom” to many that knew her. In addition to her parents, Elvira was preceded in death by her three siblings. Elvira is survived by her son, David Line, and his wife, Sharon; one niece and nephew; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with one on the way. Evaleigh V. Foster, 93 of Riva, MD and previously of Dunbar, WV passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Evaleigh was born on February 4, 1927, in Huntersville, WV to the late E. Jack and Lyda Workman. She graduated from Marlinton High School in 1945 and continued her schooling at St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating in 1948. Evaleigh would return to college during the 1980s and obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing from West Virginia State  College.   Her work took her to St. Francis Hospital, in Charleston, WV, and Kanawha County Schools. Evaleigh was a member at United Disciples of Christ Church in South Charleston, WV formerly Boyd Memorial and more recently St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Edgewater, MD, she loved God above all else. She enjoyed square dancing, reading, needlework, birds, being outdoors, and most of all spending time with family, especially her great-grandchildren. Evaleigh was an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers and loved watching football games cheering “Let’s Go, Mountaineers!” In addition to her parents, Evaleigh was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harry C. Foster, Sr.; siblings, Ellzey Workman of CrossLanes, WV, Lucy Puffenbarger of Nitro, WV, and Grace Curry of Frost, WV. She is survived by her children, Patty (Mike) Bailey of Riva, MD, Harry C. (Barbara) Foster, Jr. of Morgantown, WV, and Janet (Tom) Hill of Moncks Corner, SC; grandchildren, Bryan(Summer) Bailey of Riva, MD, Jeremy (Danielle) Hill of Ladson, SC, Jesse Foster of Morgantown, WV, Carrie (Eric) Connor of Arnold, MD, Sarah (Rob) Shook of Creedmoor, NC, Johanna (Casey) Foley of Bluefield, WV; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Evaleigh’s life on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A visitation and service will also be held in Dunbar, WV on Saturday, October 10. 2020 from 1:30 pm until her service begins at 2 pm at the Keller Funeral Home, 1236 Myers Ave. Interment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. James “Phil” Morris a eight year resident of Annapolis and previously of Alexandria, VA passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. Phil was born on February 4, 1929 in Asheville, NC the youngest of four children to the late Frank and Carrie Morris. Phil attended the local high school and was a young teenager when the World d War II broke out. Phil’s’ older brother, Frank, Jr was already serving in Germany as an Armored Calvary Officer and would made the ultimate sacrifice. He is buried in Belgium. Phil volunteered for military service after high school. He trained in the Army infantry and found himself on a troop carrier headed for Japan at the age of 16. After serving for 13 months in the Army of Occupation, Phil was released from active duty. Once Phil returned to Asheville he began his educational career. He later moved to Washington, DC where he completed his undergraduate studies in foreign affairs at George Washington University. A variety of transition jobs following graduation led to a career in law enforcement when Phil was appointed as a special agent with Office of Naval Intelligence, Washington, DC in 1952. Conducting criminal and security investigations by day and studying law at night at George Washington, Phil was a busy man. Nonetheless, he took time out to marry and rear two daughters, Jean and Karen. Upon graduation from law school and admission to the Bar, Phil continued his employment as a investigator for the Navy. His long-term employment with the Unites States Department of Justice began in 1961, as a trail attorney in the Criminal Section of the Internal Security Division. He would later become a Deputy Section Chief. In 1973 he transferred to the Criminal Division where he was responsible for the Immigration and Extradition Unit. In 1981, Phil was appointed by the Attorney General of the Unites States as a member of the Board of Immigration Appeals. Phil and his current wife, Margaret enjoyed many mutual interest including golf, skiing and travel. Phil also belonged to a poker group that for 50-years gathered on Friday nights to play their beloved game. In December of 2012 Phil and Margaret moved to Bay Woods in Annapolis. They enjoyed meeting new friends and their time spent together. In addition to his parent, Phil was predeceased by his siblings, Frank, Jr, Donald, and Gena Goldmon. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Jean Wilson of Frederick, MD and Karen King of Friendswood, TX. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road. Interment to follow with military honors at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD 

Joseph Anthony DiSciorio, III, “Joey” passed away at the age of 24 on September 23, 2020 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born on a sunny Sunday on November 5, 1995 in Annapolis, MD to Robin S. and Joseph A. DiSciorio, Jr., Joey spent his whole life in the community of Blackwalnut Cove. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 2013 and earned his Associates’ Degree from Anne Arundel Community College in 2018. As a Park Ranger at Downs Park and as manager of the ice rink in Quiet Waters Park, Joey loved the outdoors, animals and nature. He was an exceptional athlete and excelled at both ice hockey and lacrosse. He became a motorcycle enthusiast, loving the ride and working on his bikes and recently, he developed a budding interest in aviation. Through his compassion, humor and generosity he had a profound impact on every person he met young and old. He was and always will be a sparkling light in our lives. He loved his girlfriend, his pets and family, and they all adored and loved him. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Joey is survived by his sister, Lt. Sara M. DiSciorio USN of Atsugi, Japan and his grandmother Mary Sharp of Mullica Hill, NJ. Richard Louis Smith, III died in an auto accident on September 23, 2020. Born on July 4, 1956 in Leonardtown, MD to the late Mary Mueller and Richard Louis Smith, Jr., Richard attended DeMatha Catholic High School in 1971 and 1972 and graduated from Southern High School in Harwood, MD in 1974. He attended the University of Maryland and subsequently worked for advertising firms in Annapolis and Baltimore. He and his late wife, Julia Q. Giancristoforo Smith, started their own ad agency, Smith and Associates, following their marriage in 1989. They built their business on the same site as their home in Stevenson, MD, where they raised their daughter, Augusta “Gus”. Following Julia’s death in 2006, Richard helped form a new ad agency business, GAGA Marketing, with partners, Mark Elmore, Marianne Marino and Earl Galleher, where Richard served as the Creative Director. In early 2020 Richard retired and was planning to move to Raleigh, NC to be near Gus and her fiancé, Nick Iodice. Richard enjoyed numerous 4th of July birthday family picnics, high school soccer and golf. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Augusta Rachel Smith; his siblings, Elaine (Yves) Nollet, Janet (Tom) O’Connor, Regina (Buck) Towne and Dennis (Beth) Smith; his best friend, Eddie Koebke; his girlfriend, Carol Ann Gooley; his aunts, Dorothy Smith, Loretta Orwig and Peggy Adams, 30 first cousins, a large extended family and friends who stuck with him through thick and thin. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by his great friend, John Miller. There are no formal memorial gatherings planned at this time. St. John DeMatha Pray for Us



Lawrence W. Douglas, 68, a resident of Edgewater, MD for thirty years died of natural causes on Monday, September 21 at his home. Born on March 23, 1952 in Washington, PA, Larry was a superintendent with Dowd Contracting Corp. for twenty-eight years. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda C. Douglas; his sister, Cathy (Marc) Chapman; his niece, Erin (Christian) Frye and his great-niece, Anna Catherine Frye.
