Judith (Judye) Jarema of Annapolis, Maryland passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Brightview Annapolis, surrounded by her loving family. 

Judye was born in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Les and Mary Wyrick. 

Judye was predeceased by the love of her life, Frank Jarema, with whom she enjoyed extensive travel to many U.S. national parks and European countries. Her favorite travels, however, were for the countless milestones for her children and grandchildren. 

Judye started her career as a school teacher in Hamilton, Ohio. After moving to Maryland, she continued to teach for the Prince George’s County Public Schools. With her love of music, she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing the organ for St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly, MD, playing music for many weddings and holiday celebrations. As her children grew, she pursued her passion of working in cardiology. She trained and worked at Prince George’s Hospital Center and Washington Hospital Center. She then transferred to Adventist Healthcare at the corporate level at both Washington Adventist and Shady Grove Adventist Hospitals. 

After her marriage to Frank in 2000, they moved to Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD. She then began a long career teaching at Anne Arundel Community College. She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, giving back to the community she loved. 

Judye, better known as Mimi by the ones who loved her most, is survived by her daughters Leslie Ross (Jerry) and Karen Yarbrough (Norm) and her grandchildren Hailey Keogh (Spencer), Courtney Boyer (Miles), Taylor Morris and Kyle Ross. She is also survived by Frank’s children, the late Melanie Trutkoff, Kim Mitchell (the late Mike Mitchell), Mark Jarema and Frank’s grandchildren Danielle Callahan (Dan), Nikki Basiliere and Tommy Trutkoff. Judye is also survived by her former husband Ben Kinningham. 

Friends and family are invited on Tuesday, May 27 for a visitation from 9:30-11:15 AM followed by a service at 11:30 AM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. 

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Summit School, 664 E. Central Avenue, Edgewater, MD 21037.

Relatives and friends are invited to Allen's Life Celebration on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Whitehall Baptist Church, 1205 Farmington Rd. E.,  Accokeek, MD 20607.  A graveside service with military honors will be held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy,, Cheltenham, MD 20623 at a later date.

Helen G. Palaigos passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Winter Garden, Florida, on May 20, 2025, at the age of 100.  Born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland on November 23, 1924. Her parents were George and Effie (Lewnes) Pappas, the second of 3 children. She graduated from Annapolis High School and Fleet Business School. Some of her jobs included working at the Palace Confectionery, and U.S. Naval Academy in the Superintendent’s Office.

Helen met and married the love of her life Peter A. Palaigos (Pete) on June 27,1948 and spent 59 glorious years together until his death on June 4, 2007. They raised 3 children, 2 daughters and a son. While raising the family she worked with Pete at their family business Pete’s Pool Hall and later when the business became Acme Bar and Grill until they both retired.

Helen was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis, Maryland and was a member of Agia Anna Philoptochos Society, a Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Church Choir.

Helen is survived by daughter Melanie P. Brock (David) of Winter Garden, Florida, son Anthony P. Palaigos (Linda) of Catonsville, Maryland, and daughter Effie P. Reed (Rick) of Kilgore, Texas along with 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Also, her nephew George Fassiadis (Lily) of Alexandria, Virginia.  She is preceded in death by her parents George and Effie Pappas, husband Peter Palaigos, brother Anthony Pappas, sister and brother-in-law Frances and Apostoli Fassiadis, and niece Maria McCallam.

The family would like to extend their Gratitude and a Big Heartfelt Thank You for her wonderful caregivers, Debora Peaks and Marthe Joseph.
The family would also like to acknowledge previous caregiver Cassandra Gross and her staff for taking care of Peter until his death. Cassandra continued to maintain her friendship with Helen and her family.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, June 1 from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 2 at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road, Annapolis. Interment will follow at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Annapolis.

Rosemary Shipp Joyce, a beloved wife, mother, and esteemed member of the Annapolis community, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 76. 

Born on December 23, 1948, in Washington, DC, Rosemary’s life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her dedication to her profession as a realtor. Growing up in the vibrant city of Washington, DC, Rosemary developed a deep appreciation for the beauty and intricacies of the world around her. It was in this dynamic environment that her spirit flourished, leading her to create a life that would touch countless others. Rosemary’s journey of love and partnership began when she married Patrick Joyce, and together they shared over 55 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story included living in various cities, including Cincinnati and ultimately Annapolis, Maryland, where they made countless memories together. As a mother, Rosemary was the cornerstone of her family. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Patrick J. Joyce, as well as a devoted son,  Patrick E. Joyce, and her cherished daughter, Bridget J. Fischer. Rosemary’s legacy will continue through her family, who will forever carry her warmth, kindness, and strength in their hearts. In addition to her role as a devoted wife and mother, Rosemary was a remarkable and established realtor in Annapolis. Known for her genuine care for her clients, she always put people first, ensuring that each individual was treated with respect and understanding. Her passion for helping people find their homes was not just a career; it was a calling that she embraced wholeheartedly. Rosemary’s dedication to her profession earned her the admiration of many in the community, and her impact will be felt for years to come. Rosemary's life was a testament to resilience, love, and community. She touched the lives of everyone she met, whether through her professional endeavors or her personal connections. Her gentle spirit and compassionate nature will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

A funeral service celebrating Rosemary's life will be held on May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church in Davidsonville, MD. Prior to the service, there will be a viewing at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, providing friends and family an opportunity to pay their respects and share cherished memories. As we bid farewell to Rosemary Shipp Joyce, let us honor her legacy by carrying forward her love, kindness, and dedication to others. She will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us through the memories we hold dear. May she rest in peace.

Boyd William Miller, Sr. “Bill” of Edgewater, Maryland, entered eternal life on May 16, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by his family. Bill was born on November 21, 1940, to Eileen and Boyd Miller. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Kay Morris and Ellen Bryant.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of over 64 years, Delma, as well as his children, Boyd Miller, Jr. (Patricia) and David Miller (Lisa), his grandchildren, Rylee Miller, Shane Miller, Nicole Cochran, Shannon Grimard, and Kristin Buser.
Bill will be remembered as a man of faith and adventure, and one who prioritized family above all else. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather of five, great-grandfather of eight, and friend to many. Bill absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as he shared a very special and unique relationship with each of them.
Bill pursued a professional career as a bricklayer, and later joined the Stone and Marble Mason Union in DC. He displayed his beautiful stonework and exquisite craftsmanship at the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, the World War II Memorial, the Reagan Building, and many other distinguished landmarks in Washington, DC. One of Bill’s proudest accomplishments was earning his GED at the age of 65 and walking across the stage in his cap and gown to receive his diploma on October 12, 2006. Anyone who knew Bill would say he enjoyed an intense passion for all of his hobbies and recreational lifestyle. An exceptional athlete, Bill spent endless hours riding his collection of motorcycles, hiking, running marathons, cycling, golfing, bowling, and building just about anything he set his mind to. His family knew him as a wise man living life to the absolute fullest; whilst sharing wisdom through his words, but more, often his guidance came quietly through his example.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, May 31 from 10 am until his memorial service begins at 11 am at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 W Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
