Mary Virginia “Ginger” Moreland Rosela, age 52, of Pasadena, formerly of St. Leonard and Lothian, passed away on Saturday, May 23, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Annapolis. Ginger’s love of her family and many friends have left us all in both shock and disbelief, as her genuine caring and giving nature leaves a void that cannot be filled. To lose someone you love so much will alter our lives forever. While many knew Ginger in recent years for her advocacy as a peer support specialist with the Maryland Coalition of Families, helping those dealing with substance use, she was much more than that. She was a lover of animals, involved with more than one horse rescue mission, served as the President of the Calvert County National Little League, volunteered with school programs when her children were young and would show up at your door unannounced with balloons and goodies, just when you needed her the most.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jacob Paddy, and her daughter, Julianne Rosela. Ginger is survived by her husband, Antonio “Tony” Rosela; her children, Casey Brown of Prince Frederick, Amber Paddy of Millsboro, DE, Nicholas “Nick” Paddy of Harwood and Allison Rosela of Chestertown; three grandchildren whom she adored, Summer, Dakota and Sophia and soon to be grandchild Marilyn; her mother, Charlotte Moreland (Jerry Thompson) of Easton; her father and stepmother, Ronald and Stephanie Moreland of Vero Beach, FL and her brother, Jeff (Lezlie) Moreland of Harwood. Lance graduated from Central High School in Patterson, NJ. He then served in the U.S. Navy as a dental technician in the Mediterranean aboard the USS Des Moines and later at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Lance enjoyed driving. He worked as a driver for Mayflower Moving Company and Storage as well as Cowan Systems, from which he ultimately retired as “the best driver they ever had.” He continued to drive in retirement, skillfully piloting tourists around the narrow streets of Annapolis on a trolley for Discovery Annapolis Tours. When he left the tour company a couple of years ago, he was known as “the most entertaining tour guide ever.” Lance and Charlie’s favorite spot to travel was the Florida Keys. Lance was a proud 31-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was an avid reader, enjoyed telling stories and jokes, and being around family and friends. He loved Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay; often quoting Captain John Smith, “Heaven and earth never agreed better to frame a place for man’s habitation.” Lance wished to be cremated and his ashes spread in his beloved Chesapeake Bay. In his honor, please contribute to your Home Group or to your favorite charity. Due to current restrictions in place, no public service or celebration of life will be held at this time. The ten-person rule would be in no way respectful to Lance and his life. Online condolences can be left for the family using the Memory Wall tab at the top of this page.

William “Mike” Gallahan died on May 18, 2020 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. He was 66.

Born on January 8, 1954 in Washington DC, Mike was the first of seven children born to Pat and Alton Gallahan.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Gallahan, father William Alton Gallahan, sister Kathy Canoles and sister Sharon Gallahan. Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan Gallahan, daughters Jennifer Gallahan and Laura Gallahan Norton, granddaughter Nova Jade Norton, sisters Colleen Bird and Kelley Corbin and brothers Sam Gallahan and Danny Gallahan and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mike was born and raised on Cherry Hill Farm. As one can expect from a family of seven, there was never a dull moment in that household. He had such fond memories of growing up and working on the farm alongside generations of Gallahans. He loved sharing anecdotes about life on the farm; from planting strawberries and stripping tobacco to riding his horse and pretending to be Zorro to show off for the nuns visiting from St. Mary’s of Piscataway. He cherished every minute of farm life. In fact, he would call Cherry Hill Farm home along with the rest of his family for over five decades before eventually selling the farm.

In 1976, Mike met the love of his life, Susan, and they married almost two years later in 1978. Mike and Susan built a home on Cherry Hill Farm and soon started a family of their own. After years of farming alongside his father, Alton, and his brother, Danny, Mike took a risk and turned his hobby and passion of baking into a successful career alongside his wife, Susan. He loved being the “Donut Man," and took such great pride in his bakery. Once, during an interview with the Washington Post, he even stated he would do it for free if he could because he loved it so much.

Since 2005, Mike and Susan have been enjoying retirement. In 2017, they welcomed their first granddaughter, Nova Jade. It was clear from the beginning that Nova had Mike wrapped around her finger and that being a grandfather would be his favorite job yet.

Due to current COVID-19 social gathering restrictions, the family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date to be announced.

Karl Allen Lamb, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart Sally Ann (Walker) Lamb who became his wife in 1959. In addition to his parents and wife, Karl is preceded in death by his brother Edgar and sister Beverly. Karl is survived by sons Steven and wife Anastacia, Martin and wife Rebecca, and daughters Amy, Cynthia and husband Kamari. He is also survived by grandsons Erik, Jaycob, Jeremy, Owen, Joshua, Donovan, granddaughter Zoe and great grandson Jaxson.

Born in Worland, Wyoming to Lawrence Lamb and Floribel (Krueger) Lamb, Karl grew up in Pueblo, Colorado and went on to graduate from Yale in 1954. In 1958 he achieved his Doctorate in Philosophy from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar. Karl was in the ROTC at Yale and became a Captain in the Army Reserves.

Dr. Lamb began his academic career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan from 1958-1963. From there he was invited to become one of the founding faculty members at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He enjoyed a successful and prolific career as a Professor of Political Science there. In 1985 he left UCSC to become the Academic Dean of the United States Naval Academy. After serving as Dean from 1985-1989, he remained at the Academy, returning to his initial love of teaching until he retired in 1999.
Upon retirement, while a Professor Emeritus at USNA, Karl embraced full time writing. Having previously authored seven non-fiction political science texts and two dozen political science articles, Karl pursued his lifelong dream of writing a novel based on his father’s life in 1920’s Colorado. Karl was a longtime member of the American Political Science Association.

Stunningly well read, Karl had a prodigious vocabulary which resulted in him being a champion Scrabble player. His vocabulary was only matched by his love of fine foods. Like his vocabulary, his generosity knew few bounds. He was a spirited sailor who delighted in being out on the water, providing his family and friends with many memorable experiences. A true conversationalist, Karl was as interested in listening as he was in talking. He will be sorely missed. His passing has left us with many fond memories but also sadness realizing we have no opportunities to create more with him.

A memorial service will be held for Karl A. Lamb at the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on October 18. Karl will be interred alongside his wife Sally at the Academy immediately following the service.
