Anna Bean Norris, 91, of Camp Springs, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on July 30th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on October 24, 1933, in Waldorf, MD, the daughter of the late Carlton Elliott Bean and the late Margaret Iola Trotter. 

Anna grew up in Waldorf, MD. She attended Waldorf Elementary School and graduated from LaPlata High School. She then went on to pursue her passion at The Capital City School of Nursing in Washington, DC.

Driven by integrity and hard work, Anna built a respected career as a Registered Nurse, working at Greater Southeast Community Hospital (Cafritz) and Southern Maryland Hospital. She worked in various departments, including the Intensive Care Unit and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. However, she most loved the fast pace of the emergency room and became Assistant Head Nurse of the Emergency Room at Greater Southeast Community Hospital. She was well respected in nursing and knew her profession well, often mentoring many young doctors.

Anna was known as the “go-to” for any medical questions, utilizing her encyclopedic knowledge to assist family and friends.  She would calm people’s fears and suggest important questions to ask their doctors.  She was a great health care interpreter, bridging the gap between doctor and patient, by explaining complex medical jargon in simple terms.
                          
Anna’s unwavering faith guided her throughout her life.  A devout Catholic, Anna was an active parishioner at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for over 60 years. She served in many capacities including usher and greeter, singing soprano in the choir, and was an enthusiastic participant in the Bible study and book club groups. Her friends at church often commented, “Anna was always there.”

Family was dear to Anna’s heart.  As the mother of five, she took pleasure in preparing formal dinners for her large extended family on holidays and special occasions.  Her family always looked forward to and enjoyed these meals as she made these events special, often reading a poem she had written.  Any excuse to gather the family together brought her great joy. 
   
After retirement, she returned to her childhood artistic interests of painting and poetry.  While painting she would often lose track of time and stay up all night long! Her paintings grace the walls of her home, and the homes of many friends and family members.  She often expressed her feelings and showed her appreciation by writing poems for family, friends, and church functions.

Anna enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved flowers, music, reading, ipad games, crossword puzzles and watching PBS Television series. She loved her British historical dramas, tea and peach scones. She was a long-time member of the Port Tobacco Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Anna was the youngest of eight siblings in the Bean family, all of whom predeceased her: Brothers: Charles and Robert (REB) Bean (Catherine); Sisters: Eleanor Mae Williams (Walter), Kathryn (Kitty) Martin (Earl), Mary Burch (Carlisle), Joyce Simpson (Raymond), and Alyce Stifter (Bill). She was also preceded in death by her former spouse, Joseph Jackson Norris, Jr., with whom she had five children. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her children:  Joseph A. Norris, Karen M. Norris, Michael D. Norris, Robert A. Norris (LuAnn) and James E. Norris; eight grandchildren: Nicole Norris Liriano, Crystal A. Norris, Joseph A. Norris, Jr., and Nicholas C. Norris, Christopher Norris, Victoria Cisco, Shelby Norris and Heather Norris; and eight great-grandchildren: Dominic, Jase, Cataleya and Cayliss Liriano, Cierra Bregmann, Alliyah Therres, Kayla and Anastasia Cisco along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Anna's visitation on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 10 A.M. until her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church., 5416 Henderson Way, Camp Springs, MD 20746. Interment immediately following Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that Martin and Craiglyn Kraus announce the death of their son, Kevin Martin Kraus, at the age of 30. Kevin was born in Washington, DC, on May 9, 1995, and passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July  30,  2025. 

Kevin graduated from South River High School in Edgewater, MD, and went on to earn a B.S. in Economics from the University of Maryland.  For the past four years, Kevin was living in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he worked as a Financial Analyst for Goldman Sachs. 

Kevin’s sense of humor was obvious to anyone who met him and his laugh could fill a room.  He loved to golf and fish.  He was also an avid sports fan and was always following a game. From the University of Maryland Terrapins to Baltimore Orioles baseball or Washington Football, win or lose Kevin was a devoted fan. One treasured memory was his joy celebrating the Washington Capitals 2018 Stanley Cup win on the streets of Washington, DC, with his Dad, his sister, Alison, and many friends rocking the red.

Kevin was happiest when he was with his family, whether during the Thanksgiving holidays enjoying his Nana’s amazing mashed potatoes and gravy or in the midst of the chaos at large Kraus family gatherings. 

At the age of 14 Kevin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and unfortunately died from complications of that disease.  In addition to his parents, Kevin is survived by his two older sisters, Alison and Megan; his maternal grandmother, Cynthia D’Agostino; and too many aunts, uncles, and first and second cousins to name (but all of them know who they are and how very much Kevin loved them). Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Frank D’Agostino; and both of his paternal grandparents, Dan and Jane Kraus. Kevin’s family believes that their absolutely perfect golden retriever, Max, who also preceded Kevin in death, was at the head of the line to welcome Kevin into heaven. 

A Memorial Mass will be offered for Kevin at 11am on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, Maryland.

Deborah "Debbie" Lozupone Rose, age 73, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 13, 1952, in Washington, D.C., Debbie was the cherished daughter of the late Mary Eloise and Dominic Lozupone, and the beloved sister of Laura Gulick (the late Richard) and Suzanne Hay (Bob). She attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and The Academy of Notre Dame High School in Washington DC. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Medical Secretarial Techniques from the Washington School of Business. After earning her degree, Debbie worked for over twenty years as a doctor’s office manager and medical secretary. She was also a small business owner of a medical transcription service, Professional Support Systems. She ultimately stepped away from this work to be a homemaker and focus on raising her family .


A lifelong, deeply faithful Catholic, Debbie devoted much of her life to service of her Church. She served the parish community of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for many years and in a variety of roles. These roles included leading the parish’s Liturgy Committee and actively serving as a member of the parish’s Bereavement Committee. She also was a strong supporter of the parish’s school and youth group.

On May 6, 1972, she married the love of her life, Ben Rose; together they built a beautiful life and home filled with faith, laughter, and unconditional love. Debbie believed that her greatest accomplishment was her family, not only her 53 year marriage with Ben, but also their children (Emily, Matthew, Patrick, and Clare), and their grandchildren (Benjamin, Jacob, Olivia, Dominic, Elijah, Miriam, and Nathaniel). She lovingly welcomed into the family her daughter-in-laws Sarah and Virginia. Debbie dedicated much of her life to their wellbeing. She never missed a chance to check in, offer support, or celebrate the milestones of her children and grandchildren.  She was the heart of every family gathering; to know her was to feel loved.

Michele “Mickie” Roche Rumsey, 73, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and previously of Richmond, Virginia passed away on July 29, 2025, after a brave 4-year battle with kidney and liver cancer. Born in Springfield, Ohio, Mickie graduated from St. Gertrude’s High School in Richmond. She held jobs in both the banking business and in doctor’s offices, and was married to Floyd “Sunny” French, who passed away in November 1992. After the death of her husband, she married David K. Rumsey in September, 1994 and lovingly devoted more than 30 years to creating a warm and caring home for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling the world, attending baseball games, spending time with her family and attending their sports events, and visiting with relatives and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, David K. Rumsey; her children, Ramon “Trey” Hines of Stevensville, MD, Kristy M. Hines of Pawley’s Island, SC, and Kari F. Denis of Chestertown, MD; her stepchildren, Brian Rumsey of West Friendship, MD, Kevin Rumsey of Charlottesville, VA, Alan Rumsey of Fall River, MA, Wayne Rumsey of Alexandria, VA, and Anne Thompson of West River, MD; her siblings, Sheryl Mock of Fredericksburg, VA , Teresa O’Brien of Richmond, VA , and James Roche of Richmond, VA; and 17 beloved grandchildren. 

An inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Joseph Thomas Hunt “Joe”, 85, of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on July 29, 2025. Born in Washington D.C on April 7, 1940, Joe was the second son of Dorothy and Kermit Hunt. He grew up in Cheverly, Maryland, alongside his three brothers: Allan, Steve, and Tommy.

In 1958, Joe graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1962 and served for two years. His first deployment was to Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His service also brought him to the Panama Canal, Jamaica and Germany. While in Germany, Joe saw a little-known band perform one night at a pub that would soon rise to global fame the next year as The Beatles.

After the Navy, Joe married Janet Giordana. Together, they raised three children in Glenn Dale, Maryland. He worked in construction for his father for several years and in 1974 started his own construction company called Joseph T. Hunt Construction Company in Prince George’s County. Over the years, he built nearly a thousand single family homes across suburban Maryland, leaving a lasting mark on the community.

After the children finished school, Joe and his family moved to Annapolis and Joe later retired in the early 2000s. He loved playing golf, skiing, spending time at the beach, and dogs. Most of all, he cherished watching his grandchildren grow, attending everything from soccer games to performances.

Joe is survived by his three children: Janet Murphy (Chris), Joseph Hunt Jr. (Heather), and Mary Tiger (David) all of Annapolis MD; and his 10 grandchildren, Elena Murphy, Christopher Murphy Jr., Ford Murphy, Jennie Murphy, Eva Tiger, Lily Tiger, Maree Hunt, Jack Tiger, Allison Hunt, and Abigail Hunt. He was a devoted father and an adoring grandfather, always offering his unconditional love, wisdom, and support.

Joe will be remembered for his kindness, legacy of love, and his gentle soul.

Angela Puccia Orsini, 92, Edgewater, MD, passed away two days after hip replacement surgery, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, listening to Pavarotti, daughters by her side.

The daughter of Sicilian immigrants, Angela was born on May 21, 1933, in the North End of Boston, little Italy. She and her parents, 3 siblings, and her nonna, lived in a small apartment, where they enjoyed a close-knit community of friends and extended family. Angela treasured her memories of Italian Christmases and Sunday dinners of homemade pasta and “gravy”. She was fiercely proud of her Italian heritage.

In addition to her parents, Philip and Anna Puccia, she was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Phyllis Bocchino (Bookie) and Josephine Pantano (Paul). Angela adored and is survived by her daughters, Nina Orsini (ex-husband Steve Joyce), NickiAnn LaBriola (Tom), as well as her grandchildren Kristen Joyce Luria (Jake), Kara Joyce (Ripley), Michael LaBriola (Brooke) and Tommy LaBriola (Stephani). For the past year, her life was filled with additional joy from her great granddaughter, Madelynn Rose LaBriola. Angela is also survived by her beloved brother, Philip, and sister-in-law, Arleen, and countless nieces and nephews, on both the Puccia and Orsini sides.

Angela graduated from Girls’ High School in 1950. She took some college business classes but then went to work as a secretary and loved it. She met her future husband, Nick Orsini, a Captain in the US Air Force, at an Officer’s Club dance in 1958. They were married in 1959 at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Boston, where the entire Puccia family and extended family attended Sunday Mass.

They moved immediately to Modesto, CA and Angela got pregnant with Nina, who was born in April 1960. Angela was so homesick, missing Boston, her family, and their Italian feasts! She was thrilled when they were invited to a neighbor’s home for a spaghetti dinner but was horrified to discover the well-intentioned woman put hot dogs in the sauce! They moved to Alexandria VA and NickiAnn was born in June 1962.

Angela was the quintessential military wife. She was a devoted, stay-at-home mom, as they moved from California to Virginia to Fort Devens, MA to Oslo, Norway, to Hanscom Field AFB in Bedford, MA, and finally settled in Annandale, VA in 1972. She belonged to Officers’ Wives Clubs and hosted luncheons for wives arriving at new locations. She was poised, well-dressed, stylish (known for her hats!), articulate, eloquent, and friendly.

Angela enjoyed dramatics and belonged to a drama club in High School and Toastmasters later in life. She was a devout Catholic and was a regular lector at Holy Family Catholic Church, which was very important to her. She loved to cook and feed people, and her family always looked forward to the 7-course Christmas feast, including her homemade fettucine and biscotti. Her favorite color was red and she loved glitzy clothes! And she had a strong grip that would surprise everyone who shook her hand.

Angela and Nick divorced in 1976 and over time, enjoyed a better relationship as friends. Angela moved to Edgewater MD in 2000. She was a helper by nature and spent much of her free time helping her daughters and babysitting. She adored her grandchildren and being called “Grammie” by them and their friends. She was an executive secretary for a partner at Coopers and Lybrand, a big-8 accounting firm, and then worked into her mid-70s as an administrative assistant at McDermott, Will and Emery law firm. Both were located in Washington D.C., and she made many ‘bus friends’ on her commute.

She also has red-hat friends, neighborhood friends, book club friends, church friends, and being an extrovert, grocery store friends - the meat cutter, the deli clerk, the produce manager, and the general manager.

She kept her friends and family laughing, and she so enjoyed conversation over a glass of Prosecco or Pinot Grigio.

Angela overflowed with love and pride for her daughters, grandchildren, and great granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave, Davidsonville MD on Tuesday August 12 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. James Parish Cemetery in Lothian MD.

Mary Ann DeCredico, 66, a longtime resident of Annapolis, MD, died on July 22, 2025.  Born in Cleveland, OH on March 28, 1959 to the late Joseph David and Alexandra Jack DeCredico, she earned her undergraduate degree from Bucknell University before achieving her doctorate from Vanderbilt University.

Mary served as a history professor for many years at the U.S. Naval Academy and was an accomplished lifelong published author.  She was a member of Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church and in her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, cars, football and spending time at the beach.  Mary is survived by her brother, David DeCredico of Mentor, OH.

Family and friends are invited to Mary’s life celebration on Saturday, July 26 from 10 to 11 AM followed by her funeral service at 11 AM at the Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Central Avenue, Edgewater, MD 21037.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name may be made to the above named church. Kenneth William Cleaver born September 18, 1951, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025 at his home in Davidsonville, MD, surrounded by family and friends. Diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease over twelve years ago, he finally succumbed after a courageous battle over the last two years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Haila Culp Cleaver; his two brothers, Ronald (Maryanne) and Stewart Cleaver; his sisters-in-law, Andrea Culp Lilly (Don), Melody Culp Turner (Tom) and Teena Culp Haddox; his father & mother-in-law, Roland & Lorraine Culp; his cherished nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Scher (Susan), Lindsay Bangle (Paul), Amanda Krantz (Dale), Gregory Lilly (Kim), Kyle Ritchey, Caroline Ritchey and Trevor Haddox, great nieces Evie Krantz, Adeline & Charlotte Lilly; his great nephew, Hugh Krantz and his close friends, Carlos & Christina Uria "The Darlings", Rich Harrington, Sue Stevens and Pam and Chuck Buseck. Ken attended the University of Maryland, College Park where he excelled in business. Ken worked in new home sales for various home builders, and though he acquired his realtor’s license, he always felt new construction was where he belonged. Later in life he started his own new homes business Cleaver Corporation followed by Davidsonville Homes Corporation in Texas, working with friend David Herzog. He also enjoyed flipping houses and had a great mind for business. Ken enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as evidenced by his extensive travels, especially on cruise ships. If you wanted to find him on the ship all you had to do was look in the casino. Going to the Outer Banks and his time spent on the Eastern Shore with his wife’s family was a great part of his life along with fishing and playing poker with his buddies. Ken was an avid Redskins and Nationals fan and loved watching Maryland Basketball. Ken loved cooking for others and was the considered the master of the grill by all who had the privilege of attending a cookout; and his spaghetti and quesadillas were possibly some of the best around. 

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Anne Cleaver; his sister, Mary Cleaver; his sister-in-law, Jean Cleaver and his brother-in-law, Stan Haddox. He will be missed by all especially his cat, Abby.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Hospice and his nurse, Maria, for the care, concern and supplies during his final days. A special heartfelt thank you to his caregiver, Marie, for her dedicated help and comforting care for the past four months.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Kenneth’s life on Monday, July 28 from 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his memorial service will be held on the following day, Tuesday, July 29 at 11 am. Celebration of Life Reception to follow service. Cremated remains will be buried at a later date.

Kenneth Millet Stewart of Edgewater passed away on July 22, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 27, 1941 to the late Millet and Frances Stewart, Ken was 83 years old.

Growing up in Saugus, MA, Ken attended Saugus High School and earned his BS from Tufts University. Ken continued his education at the University of New Hampshire where he earned a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering.

Ken loved his work. Early in his career, he worked for the Avco Corporation and General Electric. He started his own land development and construction company in Tamworth, NH and had a long career as an executive in engineering. In 1977, he began work for SEA Consultants running their office in Portland, ME and working in their office in Boston, MA. In 1990, he relocated to Annapolis, MD to work for McCrone. Ken’s career would take him to DJG Engineering in Williamsburg, VA, Davis, Bowen and Friedel in Salisbury, MD and to Ben Dyer Associates in LaPlata and in Mitchellville, MD. He retired from engineering in 2016.

Ken was a member of the National Association of Professional Engineers, a proud alumnus of Alpha Tau Omega (ATO), and was a life member of the Elks, Lodge 622. As an advocate for our nation’s first responders, he was proud of his time volunteering for the Tamworth Fire Department in New Hampshire.

Ken was a sharp-witted and endearing friend. He was an avid reader, a skier and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. In the Fall of 1996, he met the love of his life, Maria. For nearly 30 years Ken and Maria enjoyed traveling, including their annual trips to Bonita Springs, FL and to their condo in Ocean City, MD. Most recently, he enjoyed the comfort of his own yard looking over the South River.

Along with his parents, Ken is predeceased by his sister Frances (John) Tobin of Hampton, NH.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria Morgan Stewart of Edgewater, MD, daughters Laura (Thomas) Stewart Gouveia of Keysville, VA and Linda (Patricia) Nelson Stewart of Cold Spring, NY, grandsons Mark Noeker of Saratoga Springs, NY and Brian (Arriana) Noeker of Fort Walton Beach, FL, sister Elaine (John) Cornell of Richmond, VT, stepson Brian (Holly) Hutson of Belton, SC, and step-grandchildren Sarah Gouveia, Nathan, Dalton, and Cannon Hutson.

Robert Harmon (Bob) Walters, 89, of Washington, D.C., passed away Friday, July 21, 2025.
 
Born June 9, 1936, in Johnson City, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Charles and Frances (Carrier) Walters.
 
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Jonesboro High School. After graduation, he left for Washington, D.C. where he began work as a fingerprint analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  Bob soon found he wanted to work in open spaces and liked working with people, so he began working as a car and truck salesman and sales manager. Bob loved spending time with family, playing golf and softball, and watching sports.
 
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lina (Copeland); sister Peggy Francis, and his brother Marvin Walters.
 
Survivors include his loving daughter Theresa Teter (Robert) of Macon, North Carolina; three brothers Ted Walters (Gay) of Johnson City, Tennessee,  Jerry Walters, (Denise) of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Dan Walters of Brunswick, Maryland.  He is also survived by his grandson David Teter (Katrina Skwarek) of Alexandria, Virginia.
 
Private burial will be scheduled in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, West Virginia.

Dolores Dame Burcham, 92, of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the most warm and loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Wife and was known for her quick wit and amazing sense of humor.
Born on April 8, 1933, in Plattsburgh, New York to the late Della D. and Norman Dame, Sr., Dolores was a proud graduate of St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh. She went on to graduate from SUNY Plattsburgh, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education, faith, and service.
Dolores served her community through multiple roles during her accomplished life. She was a dedicated middle school educator, a realtor, and Vice President of Dame Outdoor Advertising. A devout Catholic, Dolores lived her faith daily and was deeply involved in parish life.
Politically active and civically engaged, Dolores worked tirelessly on behalf of her late husband, John B. Burcham Jr., and later stepped into the political arena herself as a candidate for Prince George's County School Board. Her advocacy for education and public service touched many lives.
Dolores is survived by her loving daughters, Jody (Dave) Kilmer, Kelley Burcham, Jan (Steve) Wisooker and Connie (Rick) Almony; her grandchildren, Samantha (David) Thomas, Tyler Almony, Nikki Kilmer and Jordan Almony; her great-grandchildren, Adriana Kane, Pearce, Briana and Colton Thomas and her siblings, Norman J. (Nita) Dame, Jr. and Nancy Dame Finn. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, James Finn.

MICHELE THERESE DeMOULIN FULK, 67, of Clinton, Maryland, passed away suddenly on 18 July 2025 after complications from an on-going medical condition. 

Michele was the first child of Martin and Lorraine (Tomczak) DeMoulin. She was born on 24 June 1958 in Saint Louis, Missouri, raised in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, and graduated from the Bond County Community Unit #1 High School in 1976. She attended Greenville College (now University), graduating with a bachelor’s in science degree in Biology/Chemistry in 1980. She was a member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church in Greenville, where she received her sacraments, from Baptism to Matrimony. During this time, she sang in the Sunday and Holiday choirs, and sang for weddings and funerals.

In 1983, Michele married Richard A. Fulk in 1983 who was in the US Navy. Together they were assigned to the Charleston Naval Base, South Carolina, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard, New York, multiple times as a Navy couple, but sadly later divorced, having no children between them. She lived in Maryland afterwards, residing and working in both Anne Arundel and Prince Georges Counties. 

Michele was employed for several years in the food industry at Rieve’s Deli in Odenton and then worked first at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Parish, Odenton, and then at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic School of Piscataway, Clinton, where she was working at the time of her death.

Michele was a devout Roman Catholic who lived in witness to the tenets of her faith in all walks of her life, guided by a deep prayer life, devotion to Our Lord, and dedication to serving Holy Mother Church. Because of this, in addition to fulfilling the duties of her work position, she was also a dedicated volunteer in the parish communities of both churches throughout her time in Maryland, serving where she was needed: as Youth Coordinator, Ladies Sodality, Legion of Mary, cantor during Mass, soloist for weddings and funerals, activities photographer, hospitality, religious education coordinator and teacher, and events planner. “Miss Michele” enjoyed her time with parish youth and was especially proud of establishing a comfy and cool teen center for the Saint Joseph youth to meet for their religious education and to hang out together afterwards. She frequently took “her” children to various worship and charitable events, such as serving meals to homeless at the Our Daily Bread Center in Baltimore. In 2013, for these and many other contributions, she received a special recognition award from the Archdiocese of Baltimore for her dedicated work and volunteer contributions to her Odenton parish. 

Despite her many decades in Maryland, Michele made sure everyone knew she was still a “Saint Louie Woman,” remaining a life-long promoter of her birth city and a proud fan of professional sports teams like the Cardinals and the Blues. Her dream was to one day return to live in her beloved city, the place of so many childhood memories and more recent visits to the Zoo, the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, the Art Museum, and her family’s favorite restaurants. One special visit to Saint Louis was in February 2014 during the City’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of its founding. A few years later, she was invited by the Saint Louis Chamber of Commerce to present her suggestions for better signposting attractions, many of which were implemented and are still around town. Other life interests included travel, American and Church history, reading, photography, spiritual studies, and genealogy research. She also loved her family, no matter how distantly related they were, enjoying visiting and talking with her siblings, niece and nephews, and her many aunts and first cousins.

Michele was preceded in death by both parents and all grandparents. She is survived by sister Gabrielle DeMoulin (Michael Sellers) of Ridgely, Tennessee; brother Michael DeMoulin of Pensacola, Florida; and brother Stanley DeMoulin of Baltimore, Maryland; nephew James-Michael Sellers (Katie Foote and their son Asher and daughter Lydia) of Omaha, Nebraska and Lubbock, Texas; nephew Joseph-Martin Sellers (Maria Fernanda Tellez Sanchez, and their daughters Jeanette, Isabella, and Olivia) of Tijuana, Mexico; and niece Sonya DeMoulin of Daegu, South Korea. Michele is also survived by several aunts and uncles, two of which she was especially close, her father’s sister Marcella Lawson of Linthicum, Maryland and her family; and her mother’s sister and godmother Elizabeth “Betty” Ganis of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and her family. Michele is also survived by numerous cousins and many dear friends nearby and around the world whom she considered part of her family.

The following services have been arranged to celebrate Michele’s life:

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverent Father William Viola on at 09:00, Wednesday, 30 July at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1283 Odenton Road, Odenton, Maryland, her parish and workplace for many years, where she still has many friends. This service will be preceded by Visitation and followed by a light lunch.

        A Mass for Christian Burial will be concelebrated for her current parish family by the Reverend Fathers Gregory Zingler and Plummer at 11:00, Friday, 1 August, in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church of Piscataway’s main church Samuel, 13401 Piscataway Road, Clinton, Maryland. This service will be preceded at 10:00 by Visitation and the praying of the Most Holy Rosary by the Ladies Sodality.

        For Illinois friends and family, a third and final Mass for Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Father Jeffrey Stone at 10:00 on Friday, 26 September, at her home parish, Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, 512 South Prairie, Greenville, preceded by Visitation at 0900 in the church's meeting space. Burial rites will follow at the DeMoulin family plot in the Mulberry Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers for these three services, the family asks that all who loved Michele to please consider celebrating her memory with a special intention Mass, a donation to the Maryland Right to Life or to the charity of your choice, or an act of Christian charity within your community.

Michael E. Cox, Sr., 78, a forty-six-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Essington, PA passed away on July 18, 2025 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born on October 24, 1946, in Darby, PA to the late Edward M. and Mary J. Cox, Michael attended St. James Catholic High School (1962-64) in Eddystone, PA and was a graduate of Ridley Park High School Class of 1965. He worked for Westinginghouse Corporation in Tinicum Township PA for more than 13 years before moving to Edgewater Maryland in 1979 starting his career as a union electrician with the IBEW Local 26 in Washington D.C. He was a member of Essington Fire Company for over 60 years, a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was also a former Naval Reservist. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, hunting, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and hanging out in the GARAGE.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda M. Cox. He is survived by his two sons, Michael E. Cox, Jr. (Janine) and David C. Cox (Mary) all of Edgewater, MD; his sister, Darlene Durrett (Kenneth) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Michael Allen Cox, Megan Cox, and Brooke Cox-Belt (Randy) and his great-grandson, Robby Belt.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Michael’s life on Monday, July 28 from 5 to 6:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where a prayer service will begin at 6:30 pm.

Robert Louis Porter (Bob or Bobby) was born August 22, 1936 to James Sonnie Porter and Nellie Wilkerson Porter in Culpeper, Va. Bob attended George Washington Carver Regional High School where he played football and basketball, graduating in 1953. Bob furthered his education at Bluefield State College, WV, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Architectural Drafting and Building Construction in 1957.

After graduating, Bob worked construction for a few years. In 1961, during the time of integration, he became the first African-American teacher at Ann Wingfield High School in Culpeper. He taught at both Ann Wingfield and A.G. Richardson Middle School for five years, then joined Prince George’s County Public Schools System in 1966.

Over the next thirty-two years, Bob taught at Oxon Hill High School, Oxon Hill, Md. There he taught Drafting and Design, and for many years coached women’s basketball, and the co-ed tennis team. He was sponsor of the Human Relations Council, Students and Teachers Inviting Success Organization, and The Black Male Achievement Program; and a member of various other programs and initiatives designed to promote excellence in education and society. He was also the recipient of the Excellence in Technology Award from the Technology Education Association of Maryland. Bob found great fulfillment preparing young people for their future.

Retiring in 1998, golf became his favorite hobby. Bob loved to play a round or just hit a few balls, as often as possible. He was an avid sports fan, political enthusiast, and community advocate. He was also a founding director of the George Washington Carver Alumni Association.

Bob was preceded in death by both parents, older brother James Timothy Porter, and son Anthony Porter. He is survived by sister Valrie Coleman Hyman (William), sister-in- law Cynthia Giles Porter, nephew James Porter (Lily), great-nephew Kai Porter, great- niece Nia Porter, one first cousin Cheryl Humes, cousins Mark Wells, Jason Humes, Aleesha Wells, Jakiah Humes, James Taliaferro, Frankie Lawrence (William III), William Lawrence IV, and Taylor Lawrence. He is also survived by his dear friends Frances and Alvin Macon, Donna Mac and Big Mac McLendon, God-son John McLendon, Carol Doron, Jimmy Gray, Randolph Christian, Patti and Barry Hamler, Thunder Lane, Peggy Washington, Tony House, Thomas Fuller, Sarah Strom, Jim White, and Jim and Rosemary Powell. He had numerous golf friends (special friend Joe Wilson) and many former co-workers, and students that he kept in touch with over the years. Particularly in the Oxon Hill area where he influenced over three decades of students.

Andrew “AJ” Joseph Ring, 26, a 2-year resident of Chester, Maryland and previously of Columbia, Maryland passed away on July 15, 2025. Born on August 11, 1998 in Laurel, Maryland, Andrew graduated high school before establishing a career with Steamfitter Local 602. In his spare time, he was an avid collector of superhero and sci-fi memorabilia and enjoyed hard rock music, attending concerts, and playing video games. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and was devoted to his family. Andrew is survived by his sons, Logan and Carter; his fiancée, Jessica Sweet; his father, Joseph Ring (Jules Hopper); his mother, Jennifer Ring; his sisters, Sarah and Gabrielle Ring; his grandparents, Mark and Pamela Jones; his aunts, Donna Emery and Dawn Lovett (Ronald); and his cousin, Bradley Lovett.

Thomas Edward Powers Sr., beloved father, veteran, musician, and mathematician, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on November 16, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to James Jonathon Powers and Elizabeth Margaret Gunther Powers, Thomas lived a life defined by service, intellectual achievement, and devotion to family.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents; siblings Melbourne Powers, John Powers, Delores Reynolds, Lavinia Powers, and Sister Rosemary Powers; son, Thomas Edward Powers Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Xander Lee and Mary Kate Wiegand.

A proud graduate of Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids in 1950, Thomas served honorably in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1959 during the Korean War, where he also showcased his athletic prowess as a member of the Yokosuka Seahawks football team while stationed in Japan. He later earned a B.S. in Mathematics, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in civil service.

Thomas began his career at the Bureau of the Census where he worked on innovative projects, including early efforts to analyze weather data using mainframe computers. His expertise in programming led him to NASA, where he played a role in the Apollo program by developing mathematical models critical to the mission’s success. In 1969, Thomas proudly gathered his family to watch the historic lunar landing, sharing his deep sense of accomplishment in contributing to this monumental achievement. Later, at the Department of Justice, he worked in the Organized Crime Unit, managing sensitive data for the Witness Relocation Program. In an era of punch-card computing, he personally transported critical data sets between his office and the data center, ensuring the security and integrity of vital information. He retired from civil service in 1986, leaving a legacy of innovation and dedication.

An accomplished musician, Thomas brought joy to those around him with his skillful trumpet and guitar performances, often delighting neighbors with impromptu concerts that echoed through the community. His love for music was a gift he shared generously.

Thomas is survived by his brother, Gerald Powers; former spouse, Loretta Powers; and children, James Powers, Robert Powers, Deborah (Rocky) Hutchins, Michael Powers, Christine (Erik) Wiegand, Richard (Amy) Powers, Daniel (Valerie) Powers, Patricia (David) Vanschaik, Stephen (Robynn) Powers, and Elizabeth (Aaron) Smith. He leaves behind a legacy of love with 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A faithful member of Saint Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Indian Head, Maryland, Thomas’ life will be celebrated with a viewing at 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Michael A. Basileo, 82, of Fort Washington, MD, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on July 9, 2025. Mike was born on June 27, 1943 in Paterson, New Jersey.  He married his best friend, Jean, on August 28, 1965.

Mike earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the Newark College of Engineering in New Jersey, and later his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Mike worked for the Federal Government for 48 years, ending his career with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and was a co-founder of the Fort Washington Soccer Association.  In his over 40 years in youth soccer, Mike introduced many to the sport and guided them as a coach, referee, and administrator.  Mike enjoyed reading, fixing everything, rock concerts, weird music concerts, and being a true friend to all who knew him.  Mike also tolerated the cats he lived with, though he grew to love them like they loved him.  He was a beacon of knowledge, support, and positivity.  Dude was a genius, plain and simple.

Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years Jean; his son Brian (Shaquita); his only grandchild and a light of his life, Savannah; his sister Mary Ann; his sister-in-law Jo Ann Van Winkle; and many nieces and nephews.  And his feline friends Molly and Charlie.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Angelo and Emma, his daughter Karen, and his son Chris.  The family thanks everyone for their outpouring of love and support.



David Samuel Clarke, age 46, of Crownsville, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. David was the Head Archaeologist for the Federal Highway Administration, where he also served as a Federal Preservation Officer, leading national efforts to protect and preserve cultural resources across the United States.

Above all, David was a devoted father. He leaves behind his beloved children, Calvin (17) and Lily (14), and their mother, his former wife, Jennifer Tse.

Born on November 17, 1978, in Summit, New Jersey, David grew up in Hillsborough. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, and later received a master’s degree from the University of Montana. His passion for history, archaeology, and public service defined his career — but his greatest pride and joy came from being a dad.

David loved watching Calvin and Lily play baseball and softball and spending time with them on the water. He was their biggest fan and constant supporter. Though he made his home in Maryland, he remained a loyal New York Yankees, New Jersey Devils, and New York Giants fan. Quiet and thoughtful by nature, David deeply valued time in the outdoors — birdwatching, camping, and exploring nature. He took great pride in being part of a large, loving New Jersey family.

David is survived by his children, Calvin and Lily Clarke; his former wife, Jennifer Tse; his parents, April and Robert Clarke; his sisters, Amy Clarke, Katie McHargue, and Peggy Lyman; his brothers, Hoa Nguyen and Hoang Dinh; and their spouses and children. He was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.

David, may your new wings carry you to open skies of freedom and joy. May you send signs of love and peace to our hearts.

Katherine King Graham found eternal peace on July 7, 2025. Born on July 17, 1929, in southern Maryland, she made Washington DC her home for most of her life and grew a family that meant everything to her. She joins the love of her life, Walter Jr (“Buzzie”) and two of her sons, David and Samuel in eternity. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Walter III (Noemi) and Daniel, by her daughters-in-love Tina (Jim) and Joni, her grandchildren, David (Penny), Ellen (Garth), Benjamin (Julie), Rachel (Mark), Walter IV (Amber), Emily (Randy), Evelyn (Taylor), Samuel Jr (Karley), Brian (Anna), Gabriel (Vivian), Randi (Brendan), Asa, and Aaron, and by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless other loving family and friends.  

Katherine worked for several decades at the National Capital Bank of Washington on Capitol Hill, finishing her career as Vice President and Main Office Manager. Her sharp wit, “tell it like it is” mentality, and enduring work ethic endeared her to family, friends, and customers alike. She loved helping others and was always ready to give or serve for those she loved. She leaves her beloved family with many fond memories, and her influence will long be remembered and seen in the lives of those she leaves behind. 

The family will receive visitors in Danville on Wednesday, July 9, 3:00 pm at Townes Funeral Home, 215 West Main St., Danville, VA.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday July 17, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:30 am at Kalas Funeral Home, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. 

A graveside service will be held Thursday July 17, 2025, 1:00 pm at Congressional Cemetery, 1801 E St SE, Washington, DC 20003.

Susan Lee Beary, 85, an eight year resident of Brightview South River and previously of the Heritage community in Annapolis, died July 7, 2025 at Brightview.   Born in Danville, VA to the late Norman Bell and Georgia Lee (Gose) Pfeiffer, Susan earned her Masters in Education and was a longtime teacher in the Anne Arundel County School system at Central Elementary, Central Middle and Hillsmere Elementary schools.   Susan’s love of traveling took her all over the world, and she also enjoyed training dogs and going to dog shows.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Beary and her two sons, Lee and William Ellington.
Susan is survived by her family of the heart:  Allison Charapp and her husband Carl Charapp of Annapolis and their children, Jacek Charapp of Annapolis and Ely Charapp of Boca Raton, FL;  and Beth Giuliano of Seaford, DE and her children, Gino Giuliano and Johanna Henson, both of Seaford.
