Fotini “Fanoula” Rossley, 79, a 20-year resident of Odenton, MD and previously of Alabama passed away on March 20, 2025 at Howard County General Hospital due to congestive heart failure and a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on October 2, 1945 in Larissa, Greece to Christos Gagatsui and the late Zoe Haritake, she received her BS in Sociology from the University of Maryland. She enjoyed her career as a teacher’s assistant for Department of Defense schools in Ramstein, Germany, where she worked for four years. In her spare time, Fanoula enjoyed baking and cooking delicious meals. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, David Rossley; her son, Chrisovalandis F. Williams of Stratham, NH; her brother, Dimitri Gagatsui of Trikala, Greece; and her sister, Maria Karagiannis of Palamas, Greece. Friends are invited to celebrate Fanoula's life on Thursday, March 27 at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd., Annapolis, MD from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 noon. Tracy M. Rollins was born on July, 8, 1961, in Washington, DC to the late Joseph Rollins and Alfrieda Rollins.  He attended D.C Public Schools and graduated from Friendly High School in Fort Washington, MD.   Tracy started his career with Manhattan Porsche and Audi.  He later joined the Federal Government, working for Smithsonian Institution in 1984 as a Material Handler.  Tracy enjoyed being out the office, driving his work truck all over the DMV area.  

Tracy touched the lives of countless Smithsonian employees.  He was a dedicated employee up until his retirement in June of 2023.  Tracy was always known for making people laugh.  He was a people person and everywhere he went, someone always recognized Tracy or he sees someone he knows.  He loved to cook and prepare different meals for his family.  He also enjoyed watching “Diners Drive-In and Dives” every Friday.  He was a dedicated football fan and he loved the Washington Commanders and the Baltimore Ravens.  He always planned his Superbowl meals weeks in advanced of the game.  Tracy also enjoyed watching Western and Action movies on his 72 inch tv and loud theater system.  

Tracy departed this life on Thursday, March 20, 2025.  He was survived by his wife, Michele, his three daughters, Whitney, Tia, and Tori, his four grandchildren, Jaden, Nazir, Trinity, and Autumn, one son-in-law, Pierre Williamson, and his brother, Christopher Ratchford, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, and nephews, and other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Thea Rollins.

Stanley Joseph Stankiewicz died on March 20th, 2025, after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. He was 89 years old. 

He is survived by his wife Mary, son Joseph, daughter-in-law Sandra, and three grandchildren: Joel, Isabel, and Timothy.

He was born on July 27, 1935, to Anna Rypsky and William Stankiewicz in Syracuse, NY. He grew up working in his father and uncle’s garage and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was also on the crew team.
After graduation, he moved to Washington, D.C., and began a career working for the Navy Department. Stan had many interests but especially enjoyed anything that had to do with water. As a member of the Potomac Boat Club, he and his buddy Roger Van deMeulebrocke won many medals racing canoes. He also enjoyed sailing.

Later in life he spent time volunteering with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and in the workshop at the College Park Aviation Museum. He was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic minister. He is most remembered as a nice guy always willing to lend a hand.

Gregory Ervin Ferrence, 60, of Brandywine, MD., went home to be with the lord March 19, 2025. Born June 19, 1964 he was the son of William “Bill” Ferrence and Violet “Gertie” Ferrence.

He spent his life working in the family excavation business starting with father and continued with his sons. He was business minded with a strong work ethic. He came to know the Lord and loved his church family at Independent Baptist Church of Clinton, MD. The church was an instrumental part of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors with his sons and grandsons. He looked forward to visiting his family in West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Ferrence. He is survived by his mother, Gertie Ferrence; wife Stacie Ferrence; sons, Dustin Ferrence (Lauren Ferrence); Cody Ferrence (Jonie Ferrence); Jason Ferrence (Meg Palfrey), and grandchildren Aralyn, Wade, Colt, Reid, Barrett, Mattie, and Violet.

Visitation will be held at Independent Baptist Church of Clinton, MD on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 5pm with services beginning at 7pm. Private burial will occur at a later date in West Virginia. Eleanor Sadler, a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away at the age of 90. Born in Springfield, Missouri, she spent her early years in Wichita, Kansas, where her parents, Frances and Delmer Parr, relocated the family. Wichita held a special place in Eleanor’s heart, and she cherished the lifelong connections she maintained with family and friends there.

As an Air Force wife, Eleanor proudly supported her husband, Sam, through multiple moves across the country, forming lasting friendships in each new community before eventually settling in Maryland. Family and friends were the most important part of Eleanor’s life. She was actively involved in her children’s activities, especially their sports, and took great joy in tailgating at University of Maryland games. Eleanor loved playing cards, antiquing, and traveling the world with Sam and their dear friends.

Eleanor was an avid sports fan and rooted passionately for the Ravens, Commanders, Nationals, and Orioles, sharing her enthusiasm with family and friends. Her love of sports was matched by her love for her family, whom she cherished deeply. When her children were growing up, Eleanor met one of her lifelong friends, a connection that led her to a fulfilling job as a purchasing agent for Bechdon. They shared a bond that stood the test of time, marked by laughter, shared adventures, and mutual support. After Sam’s passing, Eleanor embarked on many adventures with her sister-in-law, sharing unforgettable experiences and teaching her the transformative power of a little lipstick—an emblem of Eleanor’s radiant, confident spirit.

Eleanor was a radiant woman who always made time to style her hair and wear her signature lipstick.  Eleanor cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always telling her family how proud she was of them and expressing her love. Her warm kitchen was a place of joy and laughter, where countless memories were made. She will be fondly remembered in her apron, cooking for family gatherings—a cornerstone of her life’s legacy. One of her cherished traditions was gathering with her loved ones in a circle before family dinners to hold hands, pray, and express gratitude—a legacy the family will lovingly continue.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her son, John; and her brothers, Robert and Delmer. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Mark (Kelly) and Alan (Marcella); her daughter, Karen (Jim); and her daughter-in-law, Debby, who shared many wonderful years with John and remains a cherished member of the family. Eleanor is also survived by seven grandchildren—Danny, Michael, Megan, Marisa, Christopher, Brian, and Noah—and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Carter. Her legacy of love, joy, and laughter will live on in all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Eleanor's life on Monday, March 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery and a celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at a later date.

William “Bill” B. Gates Sr., 83, of Fort Washington, MD, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 5, 1941, to the late Clarence A. Gates and Mary Hazel Gates, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence M. Gates and Francis C. Gates.

Bill was the devoted husband of June C. Gates for 61 wonderful years. He is also survived by his daughter, Lorraine M. Thompson (Spanky), and his son, William “Billy” B. Gates Jr. (Cristie). Bill’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.  He was especially proud of his three grandchildren, Sydney Siwecki (Jarred), Hannah Herridge (Noah), and Amanda Thompson (and her daughter, Aryanna), along with his great-grandson, Dillon.

His career spanned 42 years with DC Water Control.  Bill enjoyed time spent with family and friends, was an avid NASCAR fan, and had a deep passion for gardening and farming on the land where he was born and raised.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway (Our Lady's Chapel), 13401 Piscataway Road, Clinton, MD 20735. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735.

Marco Anthony Ferrante Sr., 77, of Arnold, MD and Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2025 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, after a courageous and swift battle with gliosarcoma that affected multiple areas of his brain.
Born on April 12th, 1947 in Washington, DC to the late Nicholas and Marie Ferrante, Marco was a man of deep faith, a loving family man, and someone who brought joy and warmth to everyone he met. He grew up in Washington, where he attended Catholic schools and discovered his passion for sports, particularly football and wrestling. Marco spent his summers working alongside his grandfather, Giuseppe Ferrante, and his Uncle Russ Marinucci in construction, a job that helped shape his strong work ethic.
In 1967, Marco married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Marlene Crupi, at Holy Family Church in Hillcrest Heights, MD, marking the beginning of a loving marriage that would last more than 57 years. Together, they built a life full of love and accomplishments.
In 1970, Marco, along with his father and late brother Joe, opened Nick’s Supermarket in Clinton, MD—a beloved Italian grocery and full-service meat store. Marco’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own business, Marco’s Meat & Gourmet in Fort Washington, MD. His passion for the Italian meat industry grew, and alongside his brothers, he founded Ferrante Brothers Italian Sausage, an endeavor that reflected his commitment to quality and his Italian heritage.
Marco’s talents were vast. He was a gifted cook, specializing in Italian meat dishes, and a passionate winemaker, earning several medals in the Wine Makers International competitions. His love for bocce was well-known, and his garden—complete with fig trees and peonies—was a source of great pride. As an avid Washington Redskins fan, Marco never missed a home game and cherished the hat his mother had crocheted for him. Marco also enjoyed spending time on his boat, fishing. While the fish didn’t always bite, his true joy came from spending time with friends and family, teaching the kids how to fish, rather than focusing on catching fish himself. He also took great joy in supporting his many nephews at their ballgames and wrestling matches, always cheering them on with love and pride.
A devout Catholic, Marco was a proud Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Andrew’s by the Bay in Arnold. He was actively involved in organizing events with the Knights of Columbus and Boy Scout fundraising efforts.  Marco also served as the President of the Italian Business Man Association (IBM) up until recently and had a great love for his brothers of the IBM.
Marco was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Joe (Jean). He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his brothers, Nick (Mickey) and Rick (Lucia); his sister Donna (Wayne) Wrenn; his son, Marco Jr. (Carin); his daughter, Lynne-Michele and his cherished grandchildren, Gabriella Ida and Olivia Jane Ferrante. Marco will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marco’s life on Sunday, March 23 from 2 to 5 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered the following day, Monday, March 24 at 11 am at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409. Inurnment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Davidsonville, MD. Marco's life was defined by love, faith, and a deep commitment to his family and community. He will be deeply missed.

Gloria Love Hargrove passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, surrounded by her family.  She was 92.
Gloria was the daughter of William and Lilly Love and spent her childhood in Cheverly, MD. She attended Bladensburg High School and was elected Homecoming Queen in her senior year. She enjoyed flag twirling and, despite her petite stature, was a gifted basketball player. In fact, they retired her playing number when she graduated.
Fresh out of high school, Gloria met fellow Bladensburg High School graduate Earl Christian Hargrove, Jr., who was four years her senior.  Soon, they were married and started their incredible life journey.
Gloria consistently supported Earl as he tended to the family business, Hargrove, Inc. She also participated in many special events, from working on presidential inaugural balls and floats to swinging in a hot air balloon for a themed event; Gloria did it all with love and purpose.
Her first passion was her family.  Gloria cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother, ensuring her five children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild always felt loved. She actively participated in their lives, attending games, motorcycle races, and any activities they enjoyed, always cheering and applauding with enthusiasm.
Her second love was her home, Holly Springs Farm, in Lothian, MD, where she lived from 1958 until her passing. Family and friends fondly recall her dedication to the farm, whether she was weeding flower beds, cutting grass, planting vegetable gardens, or tirelessly picking strawberries and green beans.
She was also mother to all the pets over the years—the dogs and cats, horses, pigs, chickens, peacocks, and whatever else the kids or Earl brought home.  Her home was also a welcome haven of safety, comfort, love, and laughter for dozens of her children’s friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Earl, and her grandchildren, Clyde Vernon Kelly, IV and Kelsey Kathleen McGill, who will undoubtedly be there to throw their arms around her and welcome her home.  Gloria is survived by her children, Chris Hargrove, Kathleen Kelly (Clyde), Carla McGill (Tim), Cindy Hargrove (Mike Busada), and Carey Hargrove (Wendy); her grandchildren, Bobby Kelly, Allison and John Kluh, Cierra, Carson, Hudson and Rocson Hargrove; her great grandson, Jack Walter Kelly; her brother, Victor Love and her sister, Vivian Love Baron.
Family and friends are invited to visit Holly Springs Farm, 571 West Bay Front Road, Lothian, MD 20711 on Sunday, March 23 from 2 to 5 p.m.  A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held on Monday, March 24, at 1:00 p.m. at St. James' Parish, 5757 Solomons Island Road, Lothian, MD 20711, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

Kenneth Scott "Scottie" MacDonald, 61, left us too soon on Saturday, March 15 at his home in Edgewater, MD.

Born in Boston, MA, Scottie grew up in Newton, MA and attended Buckingham Brown and Nichols Middle and High School and Clarkson University. He was both a player and then lifelong fan of hockey, proudly wearing his favorite number “9”. 

He also proudly held the title of the ultimate "girl dad," celebrating every milestone—whether he was cheering on the sidelines of every single lacrosse game, helping with work projects,  or simply being one phone call away. 

He was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. His love for the water was unmatched—yachting was both his passion and career, and there was no place he felt more at home than out on the water. But it wasn’t just yachting he loved; it was the camaraderie that came with it. Whether he was with friends or family, there was always laughter, stories, and a feeling of belonging that surrounded him.

Some of his most cherished memories are the countless evenings spent at the Selby Bay Yacht Club fire pit. He found his peace surrounded by his close friends and his dog Hermosa. Scottie always had a way of making everyone feel at ease, and no matter how busy life got, he would always make time to gather together and share stories and jokes. His laughter will echo in our hearts forever, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Scottie was preceded in death by his wife, Laura MacDonald. He is survived by his daughter, Kylie Skye MacDonald of Portland, OR; his parents, Katherine MacDonald of Waban, MA and Kenneth MacDonald (Louise) of Needham, MA; and his sister, Allison Dacey (Michael) of Newton Center, MA. He also leaves behind many cousins and relatives in the U.S. and Nova Scotia, Canada and many friends whom he loved like family. The hole left by his passing is immeasurable, but we take comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, laughter, and guts will live on in all of us.
