George Aristotle Kalivretenos, 88 a resident of Birdsville, Harwood, Maryland for 55 years, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on Friday, January 2, 2026.  Born on August 9, 1937, in Washington, DC to the late Aristotle and Stavroula Kalivretenos.  
George owned and operated John Kalivretenos & Bros. produce business for over 50 years.  He also served in the US Army Reserves.
He was a long-time member of Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis Maryland, was very active with the GOYA and enjoyed volunteering at the annual Greek Festivals. He was also a member of the BPOE Elks in Ocean City, Maryland.
He loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.  He spent a lot of summers in Ocean City at his beach house where he was able to relax and enjoy.  He truly enjoyed the time he spent with his lifelong friends. George took great pride in being a lifelong fan of the Washington, Redskins, a passion he enjoyed sharing with his family. 
George is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Demetra, along with their children, Stavroula (Christopher) of Annapolis, Aristotle (Rona) of Ellicott City, and Eleni (Rich) of Edgewater, MD, his grandchildren, Alexandra (Shayne), Nicholas, Alexis, Danielle, Joshua, Richard, Christina and Michael and his great grandchildren, George and Elias.  
Family and friends are invited to celebrate George's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, January 7 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be held at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd, Annapolis, MD on Thursday at 11 am. Thelma W. Beall, 101, a 20-year resident of Annapolis, Maryland and previously of Davidsonville passed away on December 31, 2025 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from natural causes. Born on October 17, 1924 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to the late George A. Wyvill and Beatrice A. Wyvill, she graduated from Upper Marlboro High School in 1942. Thelma worked for the Federal Government from 1942 to 1945, before becoming President of Ledo Pizza Systems. She was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church. In her spare time, Thelma was an avid reader and enjoyed eating out. A devoted homemaker, she loved being with her children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was overjoyed to welcome her two great-great-grandsons. In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert L. Beall, and her siblings, William A. Wyvill, George “Jack” Wyvill, and Alice Wells. She is survived by her children, Robert M. Beall (Margaret Kilby Beall) of Palm Beach Garden, FL, Mildred L. Beall of Davidsonville, MD, and Thelma “Bea” Beall of Davidsonville, MD; her brother, Donald J. Wyvill of Upper Marlboro, MD; her grandchildren, Robert G. Beall, Troy L. Beall, Garth E. Beall, Joseph A. Nye, James B. Beall, and Amy B. Schropp; fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Friends are invited to celebrate Thelma’s life on Sunday, January 4 from 4 to 6 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, January 6 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.

George "Bucky" Taylor, age 84, passed away peacefully in Annapolis, MD on December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bucky was a devoted husband to Judy Taylor; a loving father to his children, Christine (Jay) Robertson and David (Louise) Taylor; a proud grandfather to Erica(Matt), Taylor, Curtis and Cole (Shelby) and was blessed to be a great-grandfather to Ava and Charlotte, who brought him great happiness.

In 1979, Bucky founded Taylor Utilities. His employees were like family to him, and he was deeply loyal to them in return. Known for his integrity, Bucky believed that a person's word mattered - when he gave his word, that was all you needed. Work was truly his passion and joy.

His knowledge of repairing and installing underground water and sewer mains was unsurpassed, and many in the industry regularly sought him out for advice, guidance, and perspective. He was widely respected not only for his expertise, but for the character and fairness with which he conducted his business.

Outside of work, Bucky found great happiness boating on the Chesapeake Bay. He also had a lifelong appreciation for Porsche cars, admiring their engineering, performance and craftmanship - interests that reflected his high standards and attention to detail.

Bucky was generous and dependable, with a great sense of humor that stayed with him throughout his life. Even in his final days, he made the nurses and doctors smile and laugh with his humor. Nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his family - including the family dogs, who were very much part of that circle of love. He will be remembered for his strength, his generosity, his laughter, and for always being there to support those he loved.

Friends are invited to celebrate Bucky’s life on Thursday, January 8 from 4 to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Private services will be held at a later date.

Joseph “Scott” S. Wible, 79, a 42-year resident of Annapolis, Maryland and previously of Baltimore passed away on December 30, 2025. Born in Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Evelyn Wible, Scott received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees before establishing a 34-year career with Anne Arundel County Public Schools as a science teacher. He loved being outdoors, and in his spare time enjoyed crabbing, boating, camping, and tending to his vegetable garden. Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Cynthia Wible; his sons, Christopher and Matthew Wible of Annapolis, MD; his grandchildren, Leah Brittney Wible and Cope Garrett Wible; and his sister, Deborah Wible of Baltimore, MD.

Linda Jo “Gammy” Story
January 24, 1948 – December 30, 2025

Linda Jo "Gammy" Story, 77, of Crownsville, Maryland, passed away on December 30, 2025, in Annapolis, MD, after an 8-year journey with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on January 24, 1948, in Alexandria, VA, to the late Willis and Doris Edgerley, Linda was a dedicated public servant. She worked for the Department of the Air Force from 1966 to 1976 and later for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1984 until her retirement in 2006. After graduating from Bladensburg High School in 1966, she later pursued furthering her education by taking courses at Bowie State University and the University of Maryland.

Linda was a resident of Crownsville, MD, for 21 years, having previously lived in Bowie, MD. She found joy in reading, traveling, shopping, and, most of all, spending cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Wayne Story; one son, Kai Story, one daughter, Tara Abramowitz, and her husband, Josh, of Arnold, MD. She was a loving grandmother to Conner Green of Glen Burnie, MD, and Caleb and Caleigh Abramowitz of Arnold, MD.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda's life at a visitation on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater, MD.

Susan Lauring Curley, “Sue”, 86, a 20-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Columbia, MD.
Sue was born on September 5, 1939, in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Arthur and Celia LaVove. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University in Long Beach, CA, and received a Master of Science degree in public policy from the University of Oregon. She worked as a policy specialist for both Lockheed Martin Aero & Naval Systems and for NASA.

She was a member of Mt. Harmony United Methodist Church in Lothian, MD. She was an avid, lifelong swimmer, watercolor artist, and historic preservationist.
She is survived by her daughters, Melinda and Gail; her brothers, Timothy and Michael; and her grandsons, Dominic and Peter.

Tony Del Balzo (né Francis Anthony Del Balzo, Jr.)

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, Tony Del Balzo passed away at his home in Riva, Maryland, where he had resided for almost forty years. 

Tony was born in Tyler, Texas, on April 1, 1945, and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was a proud graduate of the United States Naval Academy, class of 1967, and served in Vietnam and on several naval ships in the South Pacific. While in Vietnam, Tony served as Psychological Warfare Advisor and Psychological Operations Officer, where he employed techniques such as leaflet distribution and loudspeaker operations by River Patrol Boats. Later, while serving on the USS Harold E. Holt, he was an integral part of the successful Mayaguez Incident that occurred in May of 1975. Though he resigned from the Navy highly decorated, he was always quick to demure, and said that his service paled in comparison to the sacrifice of those who served by his side.

Tony later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, and went on to own a longstanding land development firm with his best friend from grade school.   

Tony met his wife, Thèa, in Fort Worth, Texas in 1980, and they married in 1981. Their daughter, Katie, was born two years later, and now he is survived by both of them, in addition to a wonderful son-in-law, Dann Coble, and the granddaughter who brought him so much joy, Autumn. He is also survived by his three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Bonnie Del Balzo, Vince Del Balzo and Maureen Kennedy, and Joe and Maxine Del Balzo. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Jane Del Balzo, of Silver Spring, Maryland. 

Per the request of the family, there will be no public viewing, and funeral arrangements will be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Tony wished for donations to be made to the Democratic National Committee.
