Friends are invited to celebrate Nancy’s life on Friday, September 26 at 1 pm at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 W Central Ave, Davidsonville. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are encouraged to celebrate her remarkable life by following her own instructions, which say it best: “Don’t cry and wear black. It’s a party. Celebrate! I lived a heck of a life!”

Our mother, Myrna Dianne Harmon Goodwin, passed away on September 8, 2025, in Solomons, Maryland.  She was 86 years old.  

The daughter of a successful ranching family in eastern Montana, Myrna never forgot where she came from.  Born in 1939, she was one of eleven children and the youngest daughter of William and Gladys Harmon.  After graduating from Bainville High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Minot State University in North Dakota.  There she met her future husband Ralph Goodwin, an Air Force officer stationed at Minot Air Force Base.   Together, they raised four children while living in Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and then Vienna, Virginia, where they lived for 30 years.  Along the way, Myrna was a troop leader for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and directed the youth choir in several churches.  No one was surprised when she was featured as mom of the year in The Clemmons Courier in 1972.  Myrna and Ralph and the kids also traveled in their Winnebago camper to all 48 of the continental United States plus Canada and Mexico.  Myrna loved to sing and she loved to teach, no matter the subject.  She had a strong Christian faith, and was an active member of the church throughout her life.  

Myrna made friends easily, an important skill since she started all over again in Alabama after she lost her husband of 42 years in 2007.  Her laugh was big and contagious, and attracted both the outgoing and the shy.   She was forthright about her views and occasionally ruffled feathers, including the time she encouraged the school audience to stand for her chorus’s performance of Lift Every Voice, the black national anthem.  

The role she loved the most was being Grams to her many grandchildren.  At 83, she was still having sleepovers with her delighted youngest grandson, giggling and telling stories under the covers late into the night.  Myrna is survived by her four children: Brenda Dixon (Bud), Dan Goodwin (Kate), Ralph Goodwin III, John Goodwin (Tina); her grandchildren Michael, Colton, Ralphie IV, Jessica, Savannah, and Luke; her siblings Rita Booth and David Harmon; 43 nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.  She loved and was loved by them all.  Gifts in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Southern Poverty Law Center.  



It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Martha Elizabeth Karandy, 64, of Annapolis, Maryland. She departed this life peacefully on September 7, 2025.

Martha was a beloved wife and devoted mother. She leaves behind her husband, Eric Karandy; her daughter, Bernadette and her husband, Peter Fulweiler and her son, Konrad Karandy. She was the adoring grandmother of Bernadette and Peter's children, Peter and Ronan. Martha is also survived by her parents, Jack and Kathleen Mitchell, as well as her brothers, George, Sean and Kevin Mitchell.

A lifelong educator, Martha dedicated many years to teaching at St. Mary’s Elementary School, where she shaped the lives of countless children. Later, she pursued a second career as a Navy Training Specialist at Naval District Washington, bringing the same dedication and warmth to all her colleagues and community. 

Martha had a vibrant and charismatic personality, and always loved to laugh. Known as "Gammie", she loved to spend time with her beloved grandsons. She filled the lives of her family and friends with immeasurable love, joy, and laughter. 

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, September 12 at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Patricia Heyward Mora, age 34, passed away on September 5, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1991, in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic, and brought light, love, and strength into the lives of all who knew her.

Patricia was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. She found her greatest joy in her family, especially in raising her children. She was a proud and nurturing mother to her sons — Austin, Dominique, and soon-to-arrive Amari, whom she was joyfully awaiting. Patricia was an outstanding homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home and family.

She dreamed of becoming a hairstylist, with a special talent and passion for braiding hair. Her creativity and warmth shone through everything she did. One of her proudest personal accomplishments was gaining confidence as a driver — especially when it came to chauffeuring her boys to where they needed to be, always with love.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Davien; her sons, Austin, Dominique, and Amari; her loving mother, Cornelia; her sister, Paola; and her brothers, Pascual and Sandy.

Willie Mae (Durham) Myer, 96, of Ocean City, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born on May 31, 1929, in Amarillo, Texas, Willie Mae grew up during the Dust Bowl era and at the age of 12 moved with her family to Washington, DC, where her father had taken a job at the Navy Gun Factory. While attending Chamberlain Vocational High School in Washington DC, she studied cosmetology and afterwards began working as a hairdresser until beginning a family of her own.

On May 14, 1949, she married the love of her life, Arthur Myer, and together they were blessed with three sons: Thomas, Daniel, and A. Timothy. Willie Mae also played an important role in the family’s plumbing business, faithfully taking calls and supporting Arthur for many years.

The Myers raised their family in Landover, Maryland, before building their dream home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, where they lived for two decades. Later, they enjoyed a happy retirement in Ocean City, Maryland, a place that Willie Mae cherished deeply.

For many years, Willie Mae lovingly served in the nursery at her home church, Trinity Assembly of God, where she cared for and blessed countless families with her warmth and devotion.

Following Arthur’s passing, Willie Mae courageously managed the challenges of a lifelong genetic vision disease. In 2021, she moved to Edgewater, Maryland to live with her son and daughter-in-law, where she spent her final years surrounded by love and care.

Willie Mae will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to Arthur, her deep affection for Ocean City, and her faithful service to her church community. She delighted in life’s simple pleasures (especially cookies, candies, and every sweet treat that brought joy to those around her), and she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a treasured grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother whose love and legacy live on in the family she so dearly adored. Yet, above all, she will be remembered for her unwavering faith in the Lord, which shaped every part of her life and the way she loved others.

She is survived by her three sons: Thomas Myer (Nancy), Daniel Myer (Myrian—deceased), and A. Timothy Myer (Teri); nine grandchildren: Katherine Myer, Emily Bunch (Jarrett), Kevyn Myer, Deanna Curbeam (Emerson), David Myer, Adam Myer (Amanda), Noah Myer (Sarah), Hannah Myer, and Jacob Myer; and eight great-grandchildren Louisa, Imogen, Berkley, Griffin, Landon, Savannah, Magnolia, and Delaney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Clyde Durham and Eulma Durham; her siblings, John Durham, Betty Faye Crampton, and Nancy Colandrea; and her granddaughter, Jessica.

Having served Christ as her Savior for a lifetime, Willie Mae longed for the day she would regain perfect vision and see Jesus face to face. Today, that longing is fulfilled as her faith has become sight. Her family takes comfort in knowing that, as Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Willie Mae's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD on Monday, September 8 from 10 AM until her funeral service begins at 11 AM. Interment will take place on Tuesday, September 16 at 12 PM at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery,  6827 E New Market Ellwood Rd, Hurlock, MD 21643.

Imelda “Linda” Lynn Ireland, 63, passed away on September 1, 2025. Born on July 5, 1962 to the late Elise and Frank Ireland, Imelda was one of eighteen children. She was employed at Ginger Cove in Annapolis, MD for 30 years as a cook. She loved her work family. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She also was an avid collector of all things Yoda from Star Wars. In addition to her parents, Imelda was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Lee. She is survived by her son, Joseph Owen Rawlings Jr. (Cassie Campbell) and her grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, and Bentley Rawlings, Madelyn, Dominic, Kiersten, and Jayda Lee, Summer Campbell, and Jonathan Ivison. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda's life on Friday, September 12 from 10 am until her funeral service begins at 11 am at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD.
