Rodney Eric Butler, 53, of Fairfax, VA passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. He was born on April 8, 1966 in Washington, DC to Richard James, Sr. and Alice May Butler. He grew up in Oxon Hill, MD. Rodney was a Steinway Concert Piano Technician for the Steinway Piano Gallery of Washington, DC. He was well known in the Music Community of Washington, DC and especially well known at the Kennedy Center where he spent most of his time prepping the pianos for the performances. The Kennedy Center was a second home to Rodney. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dell Timis-Butler; his daughter, Erin Cady Butler and her husband, CJ Peterson; his siblings, Richard Butler and his wife, Patricia, Gregory Butler and his wife, Margaret and Linda Jones and her husband, Herbert; his grandsons, Clifford Kage and Rodney Kolten Peterson. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. All mixed with intelligence, loyalty, and love, and baked for 66 years. Stephanie Elaine Martinez was born on October 20, 1952 in Annotto Bay, Jamaica. She was the 9th of Franklin and Gladys Crosse’s 10 children, known affectionately as “Elaine”. As a little girl, she enjoyed climbing trees and playing outside with her siblings. Though she was often ill and very delicate,
she didn’t let that stop her!

In 1969, Stephanie and her family immigrated to the United States, settling in Washington DC. She graduated from Calvin Coolidge Senior High School in 1972. It was soon after her new life in America began that she was diagnosed with sickle cell disease. Despite this devastating diagnosis, she remained fiercely independent, and pushed forward. She began working in various facilities as a secretary, a hospital unit secretary, and eventually in medical billing.

In 1978, she met the love of her life, Tony Martinez, and after a whirlwind romance, they married in May of 1979. In 1982, their only daughter, Angelina was born. Stephanie was a dedicated, nurturing mother and wife, and her family meant everything to her. She was a gifted homemaker and cook, and took great pride in presenting a beautiful home and table to her loved ones.

Throughout her life, Stephanie faced health challenges that would have been insurmountable to most people. However, she battled them like a warrior, and always maintained an optimistic outlook and a feisty attitude! It seemed as though nothing could stop her, but even the strongest fighters must rest.

On October 11, 2019, Stephanie peacefully passed away with loving family by her side. She leaves behind her daughter, Angelina, stepson Christopher, siblings Constance, John, Woodrow, Melanchthon, Mary Jean, Rosemarie and Franklin, her mother-in- law, Greta, and a host of family and friends that will cherish her memory. Her recipe for life can be passed on to all that knew and loved her. 

Ronald Eugene "Ron" Albright, 60, a resident of Edgewater, MD for twenty years and previously of New Carrollton, MD, died of heart failure on October 10, 2019 at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Born on January 7, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY to Eugene D. and Sandra L. Albright, Ron worked in the carpeting business with Creative Touch Interiors. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars, veggie gardening and was a former CB'er. In addition to his parents, Ron is survived by his siblings, Joe Albright of Harrington, DE, Sharon Wilkerson of Glen Burnie, MD and Theresa Peake of Edgewater, MD. Randall “Randy” Eugene Patton, 64, of North Carolina, previously of Southern Maryland, passed away on October 10, 2019. Born on December 3, 1954 to Calvin and Betty Patton in Takoma Park, Maryland.

Randy was retired from Giant Food and Harris Teeter. He enjoyed coin collecting, gun collecting, and spending time with his wife and dogs.

Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Patton. Children, Michael Patton, Jennifer Patton, Tracy Vick, and Dayna Huntington. Siblings, Steve Patton (Lynn), and Donna Young (Kirk). 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. A funeral service will follow on Friday, October 17, 2019 at 11am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD.

Drew Caldwell, 30, a 20-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Waldorf, MD, passed away on October 9, 2019.  He was born on August 24, 1989 in Washington, DC to Robert “Bob” and Karen Caldwell.  Drew received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in film and television from New York University and pursued a career as an IT engineer.  He enjoyed film, online video games and running, and had a special fondness for all animals.  In addition to his parents, Drew is survived by his brother, Cameron Caldwell of Annapolis.  

Friends are invited to celebrate Drew’s life with his family from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday, October 14 at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis.  Interment will be private.

Robert George "Bob" Millett, Sr., 66, a resident of Annapolis, MD, died of lung cancer on Monday, October 7 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on March 15, 1953 in Cheverly, MD to the late Robert M. and Shirley M. Millett, Bob was a graduate of Southern High School. He worked for the Federal Trade Commission and enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading western books, watching westerns and playing with his grandkids. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Millett; his children, Heidi, Holly and Robert Millett, Jr. and Becky Fleet; his siblings, David and Allen Millett and Suzette Wall and his grandchildren, Matthew and Hope Stenberg, James Flynn, Robert Millett, Carson and Rylie Fleet, Kayla Gilliam and Brianna Comfort. A memorial service will be held at the Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church, 931 Love Point Rd., Stevensville, MD on Thursday, October 10 at 1 pm.

Edward Breen Miller "Breen", 63, a twenty-five year resident of Caroline County, MD, died on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE.  Born on September 24, 1956, in Annapolis, MD to the late “Winkie” and Colonel “Reds” Miller, Breen started life with a love of agriculture, farming on his family's Fox Hall Farm in Anne Arundel County, growing tobacco and produce. He soon became a long haul truck driver for 20 years and could tell you whether to turn left or right in New Mexico or where to catch the best SOS in Utah.  After a few years running an excavation business, his wheels stopped rolling as he settled into a job with Maryland Environmental Services at the Ridgely Landfill, where he served as maintenance supervisor and mentor to his co-workers, whom he cared about immensely. Breen loved his community and was an active member of the Ridgely Lions Club where he was King Lion in 2011- 2012. He would often be seen scooping ice cream at the annual Strawberry Festival and playing in the annual golf tournament. Settling into home life, Breen loved cooking and tinkering around his yard and garden with his trusty dogs by his side. He also loved cats and everyone knew that if he saw a stray, it would soon have a loving home full of treats. He enjoyed deer hunting with his kids every year though there was great suspicion that he fell asleep in his stand. In more recent years, he delighted in spending time with and reading to his grandchildren, looking forward to a new granddaughter, Laney, in January 2020. Breen is survived by his daughter, Leslie Breen (Logan) Milby of Cordova, MD and son, Miles Edward Miller of Oakland, CA; his siblings, Norman "Rusty" Miller of La Salle, WA and Cam Miller (Joe) Kozik of Churchton, MD; his grandchildren, Landon Breen and Lucy Wyatt Milby, niece Heather Buhaj and children of Churchton, MD and several lifelong friends; He was preceded in death by his nephew, Spencer Kozik. Funeral service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 220 Owensville Rd., West River, MD on Saturday, October 12 at 1 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Evelyn C. Panos, 69, a resident of Arnold, MD, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019, at her home following a five and a half year battle with ovarian cancer.  Born in Phoenix, AZ, to the late Paul and Mary Ladas, she graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Education and received her masters’ degree in Education from Bowie State College.  Evelyn worked for the Anne Arundel County Board of Education, teaching English at Severna Park and later South River High School for a combined 34 years.  She was an avid member and active volunteer with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC), Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society, and Daughters of Penelope Arion No. 298. Evelyn enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her five grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael; two children, Stephen (Amy) Panos of Arnold, MD and Andrea (Tom) Sewitsky of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, John Ladas of Kansas City, MO and Clements Ladas of Phoenix, AZ; and five grandchildren, Connor, Alexa, Hayden, Sadie, Declan. Nympha Amparo Equio Briones Ricasata, 75, passed away on October 2, 2019. Born on May 2, 1944 to the late Enrique Briones and Zosima Equio Briones in Amlan, Negros Oriental in the Philippines.  

Nympha graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Lyceum of the Philippines on June 2, 1965. She moved to the United States and married Teofisto C. Ricasata on July 13, 1971 at the Naval Station Chapel in Charleston, South Carolina. They were married for 28 years until his untimely death on December 7, 1999.

Nympha had worked and retired from the Gelman Management Company. Afterwards, she enjoyed traveling with family and friends, playing mahjong, shopping, and watching sports and news.

Nympha is predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her Children, Laurie Lee Jennings, and Brian Jon Ricasata. Sister, Perla Bernal. Brothers, Rafael Kahanding and William East Equio. Grandchildren, Colin Matthew Anderson, and Anastasia Elizabeth Anderson.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Emmie Miriam Ingram, 76, A 20-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Springfield, VA, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Emmie was born on August 5, 1943, in India to the late Thamarapalli and Aliamma John. She worked for over 20 years in the electric power industries with PEPCO and Mirant. Emmie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Lee W. Ingram, her daughter, Rohini Morgan, siblings; Frederick John of Washington, DC, Sukumar John of Fairfax City, Meena Bove of Great Falls, VA, and Elizabeth L. John of Lynnwood, WA and one grandson, Trevor Morgan. Karl “Mark” Stadler, Sr., age 59, of Ft. Washington, MD passed away on October 1, 2019. Mark
was born on January 8, 1960 to Louis J. Stadler, Sr., and Martha C. Owen in Alabama.
Mark retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after over 21 years of service in the United States Army. He
continued civil service and went to work for the Defense Intelligence Agency. He enjoyed
spending time with his family, outdoor activities such as walking and hiking, and watching
sports and action movies. He was a Graduate from Arkansas State University where he played
football from 1978-1982. He was a fan of the Braves, National’s, and the Yankees Baseball
team.
Mark is not only survived by his parents, but his wife, Minnie; children, Karl, Jr., Kris, Kevin,
Kyle; Stepchildren, James Davidson and Olivia Gransback; Siblings, Louis, Jr., Hilda Phillips,
Karla McGarrty, and Heather Jones; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 10 am until time of

Edward P. Wolff of Edgewater, MD left us on September 30, 2019. Ed, Eddie, Loverboy and Honeypie (to me) wife, Lois Wolff (Gerl) brought a lot of smiles to those who knew him. He was the son of Walter and Anna Marcus; brother of Walter "Buddy", Tom, Ann, Paul, Lynn (deceased), Maggie and Danny; father of  Edward Wolff, Jr. and Laura (deceased). He retired from the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission and kept friendships made there to this day. He loved crabs, cars, travel and spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. What a guy!! We miss him already! On Monday, 9/30/19, we lost a true leader who is now a legend in his own time; Charlie Merkle “Merk”. He died peacefully at Locust Lodge near Annapolis, MD where his daughter, Missy and her family reside. He was born and raised in Madison, WI went to Catholic schools and became the head of household at the young age of 12 following the death of his father Charles Merkle Sr. He continued to care for his mother, Anne Prantner Merkle Aune and sister Patricia Merkle Bates. He attended Edgewood High School where he was an all-star athlete before enlisting in World War II where he served in the United States Navy on the USS Custer and Farragut in the Pacific theater 1945-47. Following his service he returned to marry the love of his life Joan “Ritz” Heilman on Feb. 13, 1947 at Blessed Sacrament church in Madison, WI. They were married 70, wonderful, enduring, years before the passing of “Ritz” in 2017. They were blessed with five children; Charles (Mike) Merkle, Mary Merkle Warmke, Marcie Merkle Statz, Mark Merkle and Melissa (Missy) Merkle Selick.

Charlie became a Madison, WI Fire Fighter and President of the Fire Fighters union 311. He also became Vice President of the 5th District International Fire Fighters union. He served over 30 years as a Fire Fighter before retiring.  He was an avid fishermen, hunter and golfer who religiously went up to northern Wisconsin for the opening of deer hunting season and several Muskie fishing trips. He was also known as the “go to guy” if you ever needed anything fixed! Neighbors, and friends would say “Go ask Charlie, he will help you.”  In addition to his fire fighter career, he was busy attending his son’s hockey games and tournaments, volunteering for the Southside Hockey Assoc., Edgewood High School functions, and several political campaigns throughout his years.  He seldom rested, even after retirement, he always said “once ya sit down and stop doing things you’ll die.” Needless to say, he kept busy for the next 30 years after he retired and began spending 6 months in Florida. He started building furniture, remodeled their cottage on Lake Wisconsin, and volunteered as the neighborhood association President in Tarpon Springs, FL. He always liked being the leader. Many will remember Charlie from the many amusing sayings he had, e.g. “You are slower than molasses in January” or, “You are about as handy as a cub bear in overshoes!” and of course all the others. He was a tough guy with a great sense of humor.

Charlie Merkle; a son, a brother, a high school quarterback, a WWII Veteran, a husband, a father of five, a grandpa, a friend, a Lieutenant Fire Fighter, a Fire Fighter Union President, an International Fire Fighter Vice President, a carpenter, plumber, (Jack of all trades) the “go to guy”, may you rest in peace.  WE WILL FOREVER LOVE YOU.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan (Heilman) Merkle, sister Patricia Merkle Bates and his three beautiful children Mike, Mary and Marcie. He will be placed by his beloved wife of 70 years in Dekorra Cemetery with a view of Lake Wisconsin, and the family cottage. Alice W. Shaw, 92, a resident of Annapolis, MD for eighty years and previously of Deale, MD died of Alzheimer's disease on Monday, September 30th at her home, surrounded by her loving family and her faithful dog, Mojo.   Born on April 16, 1927, in Deale, MD to the late Joseph and Agnes Whittington, Alice graduated from Annapolis High School and worked at Read’s Drugstore on Main Street as a “soda jerk” before becoming a Bank Teller at Annapolis Bank and Trust for 46 years.  Legend has it that customers would wait in Alice’s line just to see her, even though other Teller lines were empty.  In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert, and together they raised two daughters in the Homewood neighborhood.   Alice was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in her 40’s and although she gradually lost her vision, she was always smiling and enjoying life, especially when there was music as she loved to dance.  She was a member of Ladies of the Elks and she adored Mojo, her Papillion, who remained by her side until the end.  

Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gilbert B. Shaw and her siblings, Carl and Conley Whittington, Naomi Stevens and Marjorie Parkinson.   She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Shaw (Mike Jeffery) and Laurie Shaw Maglio (Tommy Sines) both of Annapolis, MD; her sister, Annamae Aisquith of Riva, MD; her sister-in-law Dorothy Nichols of Annapolis, MD and her grandchildren, Ryan and Carly Maglio and Julian and Natalie Jeffery and many nieces and nephews.  Friends are invited to celebrate Alice's life on Monday, October 7th from 1 to 3 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 8th at 10 am. Greg Keith Spangler, "Spanky" , 70, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at his residence in Mechanicsville, MD. Born February 1, 1949 in Washington, D.C. to Ayres Moppin and Jean Ruth Spangler. Spanky served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he reached the rank of Lance Corporal. He worked for Pepco for most of his career and retired as an Overseas Operations Officer from the US State Department, Foreign Service Division.

Spanky was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Michael Ayres Spangler and his sister, Joyce Ann Palmer Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mary Spangler; his three children, Joshua (Christina) Spangler of Mechanicsville, MD, Jonas Michael (Amanda) Spangler of Mechanicsville, MD and Carie-Anne Spangler of Leonardtown, MD; his eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jr., Alex, Nickolas, Ryan, Brayden, Chloe, Jordan and Aly; his sister, Betty Palmer Krywulak. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Carrie H. Pulley was the seventh child born to Clem Edward and Zulean Golden Turner Ross.  She was born on June 26, 1927 and departed this life on Monday, September 30, 2019. Carrie was raised in Loudon County, Virginia where she met and later married Wilmer Thomas (deceased) on February 25, 1948.  Of this union, three daughters and one son were born.  Carrie and Wilmer lived several years on the eastern shore of Maryland before moving to Washington, DC.  Carrie was employed at the National Children’s Center as Staff Supervisor until her retirement in 1993.  Carrie and Wilmer dissolved their union after twenty-five years of marriage. On March 14, 1975, Carrie married the late Alfred W. Pulley, Sr. As a result of this marriage, she became stepmother to Alfred’s five children.

During her lifetime, Carrie became a licensed real estate agent in the state of Maryland.  She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and enjoyed boating, crabbing and fishing.  Carrie was also a member of the Eastern Star, Miriam Chapter No. 4.  She and three of her sisters were members of the Virginia State Society.  She was very close with her sisters and shared a unique relationship with each one of them.  The book “Sister Friends” by Michelle V. Agins and Julia Chance detailed their monthly gathering that was established as a tradition known as Sisters Day – Ross Family Style.  The Ross Girls as they were known spent many hours eating, laughing, gossiping and reminiscing. As quoted by Carrie in the book “After we lost three sisters and four brothers, we decided to do this to stay close.” 

Carrie was a long-time member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Senior Group and developed lasting friendships throughout the church. She attended faithfully until her illness. 

Carrie loved to cook and bake.  The family enjoyed her cooking and looked forward to the caramel cakes she made for family gatherings.  

Carrie leaves to mourn her children, Carol Watkins, Gloria Thompson, Terry (Michael) Thomas-Whetstone, and W. Greerlin “Greer” Thomas, Diane Burrell, Mary (John) DeSalvo, Anne (Joseph) Mazzola, Luther “Pete” Pulley; grandchildren, Dana (Anthony), Damon (Robin), Dwayne, Greerlin, Darren, Timothy, Shauntee;  John (Gorette), Thomas,  Jacqueline (Raymond), Alexandra,  Joseph,  Seth (Chansoria), Tammy, Marve (Nique), and Kayla; 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Gloria Walker, Dorothy Jackson, and Mary Settle; two brothers James (Brenda) Anderson and Paul (Annette) Moore; sisters-in-law Sally Pulley and Alma (Theophilus) Stokes; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.


A graveside service will held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. Please arrive at the Administration Building at 1:15 p.m. with one's own transportation. 


Griffin C. Walter, 15, a lifelong resident of Lothian, MD, died on Sunday, September 29 due to injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident.  Born on  June 3, 2004 in Annapolis, MD to Steve and Maria Walter, Griffin was a tenth grader at Southern Senior High School in Harwood, MD. He enjoyed video games, riding dirt bikes, hunting, shooting guns, karate and boxing. He was a Senior Red Belt at East Coast Martial Arts in Edgewater, MD. In addition to his parents, Griffin is survived by his siblings, Nicholas Sieh and Isabel and Sophie Walter all of Lothian; his grandparents, Joseph and Maria Walter of Lothian, Lillian Kinser of Edgewater and Donald and Loretta Sieh of San Antonio, TX and his aunts and uncles, Wilseydee Walter and John and Michelle Sieh. Griffin was preceded in death by his older brother, Steven Jacob Walter ; his uncle, Ronnie Walter and his grandfather, Glenn Kinser. Friends are invited to celebrate Griffin's life on Thursday, October 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Friday October 4 at 11 am. Interment will follow at St. James' Parish Cemetery in Lothian, MD.

Gavin Alexander Payne was 16 years old at the time of his passing.  He loved life to the fullest.  There was never enough time in a day for Gavin.  He always had to be doing something.  He loved the water whether swimming in the ocean or pool, being in a boat, riding a jet ski, fishing or crabbing.  Gavin also loved scary movies, cooking, boxing and music, so much so that he expressed interest in being in a band.  He had a special gift for making anyone laugh.  Gavin especially enjoyed working on things with his dad.  He had a natural curiosity and it brought Gavin great joy to figure out how things worked.  He also loved riding dirt bikes and go-karts with his dad.  Gavin was a smart, caring young man.  He was his mom Lisa’s best friend.  His heart was exceptionally kind; he would help anyone.  Gavin especially loved helping the elderly.  He also cared very much for animals.  Gavin loved going with his family to Heritage Baptist Church where he was baptized.  His family meant everything to him.  He loved his little brother and sisters very much.  Gavin was a very helpful big brother.  His life goal was to join the military, stand for our flag and fight for our country.  Rest in peace, Gavin.  We love you.  

Gavin is survived by his loving parents, Scott and Lisa Payne; his sisters, Skylar and Rylee and his brother, Carter; his grandparents, Jadene and Scott Payne, Sr. and Sue and Mark Brown; his great-grandparents, Nancy and Bernie White; his aunts and uncles, La La and Michael Payne and Kellie and Nick Brown; three cousins, Julia, Charlotte and Lucie; and many extended family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gavin's life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD.  Burial will be private. The family requests everyone dress as they normally would.

Douglas J. Mather, 64, passed away from a heart attack early in the morning of September 28, 2019.  Born on January 26, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Joan Isabel Blizzard and Ronald Douglas Mather, Doug grew up in Timonium and graduated from Dulaney High School. For the last 25 years, he lived in Davidonsonville, Maryland.   

Like his dad, Doug worked for over 30 years as a land surveyor, a profession that he loved and in which he took great pride. 

He was a talented musician, writing songs and playing in bands from the time he was a teenager. For the last 30 years, he was the indispensable center of the Annapolis-based band Her, Him & I, which included his wife, Lydia, childhood friend Joe "Poppy" Girlando, and friends Joe Dyer and Eric Anderson. Just hours before he died, he was with his fellow musicians, practicing songs for the next gig. 

More than anything, Doug’s love of animals defined him.  Throughout his life, he had a menagerie of found and adopted pets:  iguanas, cats, birds, fish, turtles and always puppies.  He taught those around him that the way you treated animals reflected your character.  Doug’s character was loyal, loving, without judgment, steadfast and deep.   His love of animals led to the opening of Davidsonville Dogwalkers, a business that thrived until his sudden passing.  He loved nature and riding his motorcycle across the state on cool days.  

He took great care of his family, human and animal, and is survived by his partner and wife of 28 years, Lydia D’Wynter, and his puppies Shadda, China and Elle. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Kendi (Mather) Irwin, her husband David B. Irwin; by nephews Jeffrey and Mark Irwin; by Lydia's mother (Caroline) and father (Gerald), sister (Amanda Blue), brother-in-law (Matthew Blue) and niece (Everett).  

A celebration of life is planned for November 2, 2019 from 4 pm until time of service at 5 pm, at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD.

Dolores R. Fash, 88, a 50-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on September 26, 2019.  Born on January 26, 1931 in Brooklyn, Dolores graduated from the New York City public school system. Shortly after her marriage she was accepted to study at the Parsons School of Design.  Moving to Annapolis in 1966 Dolores pursued a career as an analyst at the Goddard Space Flight Center.  She was the owner of three children’s clothing and toy stores in Annapolis, Solomons Island, MD and Georgetown, Washington, DC.  Dolores was a member of the Ranger Rosary group at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis.  Active in the church she knitted hats for newborn babies at the local hospital and helmet caps for soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.  Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Frank H. Fash.  She is survived by her son, Frank H.J. Fash of Seattle, WA; her daughter, Deborah Alexander of Centreville, MD; and four grandchildren, Frankie and Nicholas Fash and Matt and Angela Alexander. Funeral services will be private.
