Harry Jackson Gregory, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on December 2, 1923, in Washington, D.C. to the late Lizzie Caroline (nee Fleming) and Abraham Hinton Gregory, Harry was the youngest of six children, four boys, and two girls, and was doted on as the youngest son and sibling. He attended the Washington, D.C. public schools and went on to study at Hampton University before being drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from 1943-1945. After being honorably discharged, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and eventually went into business for himself. Harry built a small general contracting business serving the Prince George’s County and Anne Arundel County communities for 40 years. He was an industrious businessman and fun-loving companion and friend who always had a ready smile with every encounter. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, turning his tremendous talent into a vocation in which he used his creative mind to design blueprints, build and remodel homes and construct furniture out of fine hardwoods. Friends often teased that they thought he was a confirmed bachelor until he met and married Emma Louise (nee McDonnell) on June 27, 1957. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tylade Elizabeth Kolasa; a son-in-law, Dan Kolasa; three grandchildren, William, Sierra and Kendall, two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Helga A. Brynarsky
 
Helga A. Brynarsky, 94, a resident of LaCasa Assisted Living in Annapolis, MD passed April 20, 2016. She was a 46 year resident of Harwood, MD, moving to Brightview Assisted Living, Edgewater, MD in 2012, and Annapolis in 2015.
 
Helga was born May 24, 1921, in Rustringen, Germany, traveling to the United States in 1924 with her parents, the late Heinrich and Henriette Kortlang, and her sister, the late Hanna O’Connor. Settling in Washington DC, Helga attended and graduated from Eastern High School. Becoming an American citizen in 1945.
 
Following high school, she went to work for the AFL--‐CIO as an executive secretary and later Prince George's Community College in 1967 as secretary to numerous professors. Helga and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States, Mexico, and Canada and saved every postcard, picture, and maps of the areas they traveled. They loved being on the road together, and she was an avid photographer. Helga will be remembered for her bright smile, soft touch, and friendly spirit. Her children often spoke of her as the best Mom anyone could have. She welcomed all into her home.
 
In addition to her parents and sister she was preceded in death by her husband John J. Brynarsky, whom she married in 1949, and her son John H. Brynarsky.
 
She is survived by her daughter Elaine H. Baker (Joe) of Edgewater, MD and one grandson Jason Brynarsky (Jessica) of Odenton, MD.
 
Services are private by the George P. Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater,MD, followed by interment at Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville.

Paul David Widmayer was born in Augusta, GA, at 5:55pm, on the 22nd of May, 1994. At the young age of 21, he left this life on the 20th of April, 2016.
 
 
 
As a child, Paul had a big imagination, never ending energy, and a love for adventure. He grew to love building models and video games, and had the biggest dreams in life. His dreams were almost as big as his smile, which would light up any room he entered. He matured into a young adult and had an infectious, fun loving attitude. It was impossible to have a bad day with Paul around. He had the ability to make everyone feel important, and special. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved, and often put the needs of others above his own. 

 
 
Paul may have left this world too soon, but the love and light that he brought to our lives will forever be held in our hearts. 

 
 
Paul is survived by his parents, David and Donna Widmayer; his brother, sister-in-law, and nieces, Adam Scott, Jennifer, Amber, and Kiera Widmayer; and his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth, and Marc Sanders.

Mrs. Ocie Beatrice Davis was born August 5, 1919, to the late William David Jones and Fannie Sue Elvira Rosalee Jones in Pittsylvania County. She is was the last survivor of 16 sibling.
 
 
 
Although she never completed high school, she was an avid reader, and was very knowledgeable about the Bible. She loved to recite poems and was wise beyond her years. We all marveled at how she could remember everything! She would say that she had poems “in her computer” and they just came out. 
 
 
 
She had a love for her church home -- Shockoe Baptist Church, and the many dear friends who kept in touch and sent her cards. Anyone who knew her well, knew that she loved to sing! She would sing and laugh and talk for hours at a time about stories and experiences and would share them with anyone who would listen. She loved life and had a beautiful sense of humor. 
 
 
 
She knew all the family history, all of Shockoe’s family history and all of her dearest friends’ history! As a youth, Ocie was not only in the Children’s Choir, she also made it her business to be in the Adult Choir!
 
 
 
She was married to the late Harrison Grasty from Pittsylvania County. From this union they had one son, Douglas Wayne Grasty. Ocie became a widow in 1965.
 
 
 
She lived a simple life -- working hard on the farm, in her home, and working with her plants and her garden. She later met and married Woodrow Wilson Davis who preceded her in death. She then moved to Oxon Hill, MD and lived with her son and his family until her passing. 
 
 
 
She leaves to cherish her fond memories one son, Douglas (Loretta) from Oxon Hill, MD; four grandchildren, Lekeisha Wynnette Grasty, from Oxon Hill, MD; Steven Boman from Danville, VA; Legathia Pitt (Frank) of Baltimore, MD; and Ricky (Veronica) Fitzgerald of Crofton, MD; seven (7) great-grand children; and 13 great, great-grand children; also a special friend, Ms. Rebecca Barksdale.
 
 
 
Also special thanks to her niece, Edna Brathwaite who spent countless hours with her at home and in the hospital. Ocie shared this poem with her on February 13, 2011 and many times thereafter:

Ellen Margaret Diehl Thompson, 90, died Monday April 18, 2016, at her home in Churchton, MD. She was born March 30, 1926, in Iowa City IA, daughter of Charles Irwin and Margaret Alla Flaherty Diehl. She graduated from Garfield High School, Terre Haute, IN in 1944. She attended Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute. She served in the Women's Army Corps and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. She married Henry G. Thompson on Dec. 28, 1949, in Chittenango, NY, and was predeceased by him. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Diane M. Thompson.

Ellen played violin, clarinet, oboe and chord organ, and sang with the Annapolis Chorale.
She was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star, Twelve Points Chapter, Terre Haute, IN, and co-founded the Star of Bavaria Chapter in Landsberg, Germany. 
She was a Girl Scout girl member and later a Girl Scout Leader.
Ellen was an extra class amateur radio operator, call sign N3EMI. She was a past president of the Susquehanna County (PA) Radio Club and a Volunteer Examiner for the Anne Arundel (MD) Radio Club.
She enjoyed fiber arts, including sewing, crochet, knitting, Swedish weaving and beading.
She was a loyal supporter of her grandchildren’s school activities and an avid fan at their sports competitions & musical performances. She was particularly proud of her descendants’ educational accomplishments.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith M. Thompson (Charles Shapiro) of Avondale Estates, GA; her son Micheal G. Thompson (Janice Longe) of Churchton; grandchildren Christine E. Mooney (Darby Miller), Harrisburg, PA; Frances T. Landon (MollyJayne), St. Louis, MO: Ryan L. Thompson, Harrisburg; Kaitlin L. Thompson, Erie, PA; and Kelvin L. Thompson, Churchton; great-grand-children Jessica P. Mooney, Harrisburg; and Devin C. Landon, St. Louis; nephews George A. Gibson (Virginia), Rochester, NY; John, Lonnie, Mike and Frank Diehl, all of Albuquerque, NM; Warren D. Thompson, Knoxville, TN; and Steven R. Thompson (Sharon), Sinking Spring, PA.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be announced later.

Larry Milford Howard, 67, a resident of Edgewater for 15 years and previously of Silver Spring, died on April 18, 2016, at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. Born on February 13, 1949, in Bethesda, Larry graduated from Springbrook High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army and was a self-employed carpenter most of his life. Larry was a member of American Legion Post 7 in Annapolis and Post 226 in Mayo. Known as a jack of all trades, he enjoyed boating, golfing, crabbing and spending time with his family. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Milford Howard. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Howard; his children, Clint (Jennifer) Howard and Natalie (Sean) Kelly both of Silver Spring, Holly (Curtis) Andrews of Augusta, GA, Larisa (Wilson) Santis of Riva and Tara Howard of Edgewater; his mother, Bertha Howard of Silver Spring; his siblings, Wayne, Steve and Joyce Howard all of Silver Spring; his grandchildren, Christopher, Jack, Parker, Beckham, Voe, Whitney, Paisley, Jenna, Serenity and Kensington and one great-granddaughter, Adalyn. Rosemary Mimms, 86, a resident of the St. Margaret's area in Annapolis, MD, died on April 17, 2016 in Easton, MD. Born on October 28, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, Rosemary attended the Seton School and later worked as a switchboard operator at Sears. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. John Neumman Catholic Church in Annapolis. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Mimms, Jr., who died in 2008. She is survived by her children, Robert Dudley Mimms of Greensboro, MD, Joseph Walton Mimms of Hillsboro, MD, Christopher Samuel Mimms of Roxboro, NC, Bonnie Lee Jarrell of Preston, MD and Patricia Robin Mimms of Annapolis, MD. Mary Regina Mueller Smith, 85, of Centreville, MD and previously Harwood, MD, passed away on April 17, 2016. Born on May 6, 1930 in Annapolis, MD to the late Mathias and Regina Mueller, Mary graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Ridge, MD. She later attended the International Institute of Interior Design in Washington, DC. 
 
In 1950, Mary married the late Richard L. Smith, Jr., who died in 2006, and devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother. She and her husband lovingly restored and raised their family at “Mary’s Mount” farm in Harwood. Before moving to Centreville where she was a parishioner of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Mary was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD where she was very active, especially on the design committee for the new church and as a founding member of the Lazarus Committee. Mary enjoyed needlework, doll-making, painting, interior decorating, cooking, gardening and entertaining. 
 
Mary is survived by two sons, Richard Smith III of Stevenson, MD and Dennis (Beth) Smith of Earleville, MD; three daughters, Elaine (Yves) Nollet of Schenectady, NY, Janet (Tom) O’Connor of Centreville and Gina (Buck) Towne of Centerville, OH; one brother, Gerry Mueller of Davidsonville; four sisters, Judy Raley and Helen (Harry) Clarke, both of St. Inigoes, MD, DeeDee Orwig of Great Mills, MD and Peggy (Rick) Adams of Marietta, GA; four grandsons, Jeremy and David Nollet, Brad Towne III, and Dennis Smith II; seven granddaughters, Katherine Nollet, Sara Hart, Anne Frank, Gussie Smith, and Emily, Livie and Chrissy Smith; and seven great-grandchildren. 
 
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville until a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12:00 p.m. in the main church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church cemetery in Owensville, MD.

David Abraham Wolff, 91, a 35-year resident of Annapolis and previously Adelphi, MD, passed away on April 17, 2016 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on November 25, 1924 in Washington, DC to the late David and Perla Wolff, David graduated from Roosevelt High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and made his career as a salesman for the George W. Allen Co. in Washington, DC. He was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Crownsville and previously was a layperson and member of the vestry in the Episcopal Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Lion’s Club International. David enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer who was proud of achieving seven holes-in-one.
 
 
 
David was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Marie Wolff. He is survived by two sons, Russell A. Wolff of Monrovia, MD and Richard C. Wolff of Vienna, VA; two daughters, Nancy E. Knotts and Cindy R. Wren, both of Elkridge, MD; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Paul F. Interdonato born in Washington, DC, on October 21, 1918 was the son of Andrea Interdonato and Theresa Pisciotta Interdonato who were both immigrants from Sicily. He had a younger brother, Guy and older, twin sisters, Annuciata (Nancy) and Marianna (Mary). They all predeceased him. He married Amelia Theresa Mirabile on June 21, 1942 and they remained lovingly together until her passing on April 25, 2012, after nearly 70 years of marriage. They had 4 children, Theresa O’Connell (married to Edmond B.), Andrew G. Interdonato, ( married to Beverly), Anthony P. Interdonato ( married to Kathleen G), and Rita Interdonato. He has 7 grandchildren, Denis A. O’Connell, ( married to Shannon), Paul E. O’Connell, Amelia T. Miles, (married to Timothy), Paul A. Interdonato, Paul M. Interdonato, Anthony J. Interdonato and Nicholas G. Interdonato. He has 5 great grandchildren, Jaqueline J. Miles, Julia J. Miles, Edmond S. O’Connell, Sophia E. O’Connell, and Jacey J. Miles. They all knew him affectionately as Beep, Beepa or Grandpop. He was fondly known to many as “Mr. I”.
 
He graduated from the following schools all in Washington, D.C.: Holy Name School in 1934, Gonzaga College High School in 1938, Georgetown University A.B. in 1946 and Georgetown School of Law, L. L. B., later, J. D., in 1950. He passed the DC Bar exam in 1950 prior to completing Law School.
 
As a young man he worked in his father’s barbershop and pool parlor and started his outside career as a Clerk and Accountant at the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, MD while still attending Gonzaga. From the early 1940’s to post WW II, he worked as a Joiner at the Washington Navy Yard where, among many other things, he helped build a solid mahogany desk used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and classified models used by the Navy to prepare for the Battle of Midway. During that time, with his father and brother, he opened restaurants on 8th Street SE one of which, with all else in his life, he kept in operation until after his Father’s death in 1968. He was also a principal in a construction company that built over 100 homes in the Berkshire subdivision in District Heights, Maryland from 1956 through 1959.
 
He started work as an associate at a DC law firm in 1950 and was still practicing law into his 90’s. He was always available to priests and numerous Catholic organizations for whatever legal tasks they had. This developed into a career in which he represented the Little Sisters of the Poor for over 40 years. He worked with Cardinal O’Boyle and later became principal Counsel to Cardinal Baum and Cardinal Hickey. Those positions extended over 25 years. He was AV rated by Martindale Hubbell for many decades.
 
In addition to his professional career, he always made time for charitable and community service. He helped organize and represented Villa Rosa Nursing Home, Mitchellville, MD. For more than 20 years he was a Director of United National Bank which was the first Federally chartered Bank in the US to have a racially integrated Board. He served as a Director of Madison National Bank after it acquired United National. He served as President of the St. Francis Xavier Holy Name Society and the Lido Civic Club, made up of Italian American professionals and business men. He was a Venerable of the Prince George’s County Sons of Italy
 
and a Charter Member of Amerito, a union of Italian American organizations in the Washington Metro area. He served on numerous Boards of organizations of the Archdiocese of Washington and the Board of the Summer Opera Company of the Catholic University of America.
 
He served as Chairman of the Archbishop’s Appeal in 1976. In 1978 he was installed into the Papal Order of the Knights of St. Gregory the Great and was later elevated to the Rank of Knight Commander. In 1982 he was invested into the Knights of Malta. He was awarded the St. Aloysius Medal by Gonzaga College High School in 2007.
 
His life always revolved around his family, his faith and his friends. He will be remembered as a man who always helped anyone who needed assistance. His personal acts to those in need are too numerous to list. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

Arthur James White, Jr. 84, of Edgewater and previously of Churchton, MD passed away on April 14, 2016. He was born in Stanton, KY to Arthur and Bessie (Coldiron) White on April 22, 1931. Arthur grew up in Cincinnati, OH where he attended Anderson High School, and played four years of basketball, football and track, he also played baseball on church and industrial leagues. After graduation, Arthur attended Wilmington College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a sergeant and a platoon leader with the 24th and 25th Divisions, heavy weapons platoon. Arthur worked for the District of Columbia's Metropolitan Police force for 24 years primarily as an investigator. After retiring in August 1980, he went on to work for the Library of Congress for five years and then served as a bailiff with the Circuit Court in Annapolis before retiring completely. He was a member of the Masonic Order, a Past Master of Potomac Lodge #5; P.H.P. of Mt. Vernon Chapter No.3, R.A.M.; Past Worthy Patron in the Eastern Star, Marlboro Chapter No.61 and a Thirty-Second Degree, Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a member of the American Legion, Cummings-Behlke Post #226 and the Deale Elks Lodge #2528, where he was an officer. He was a trustee and head usher of Centenary United Methodist Church and served on various committees. Arthur was also a volunteer at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. He enjoyed art work, boating, fishing, crabbing, all sports and spending time with his family.
 
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Janie White; daughter, Vivian L. Tyler; brother, Ralph E. White; sister, Joyce Ann Williams; and three stepdaughters, Carolyn E. Deavers, Patricia J. Hardy and Wilma A, Bainhauer.
 
 He is survived by two children, Arthur J. White III, of Frederickburg, VA and Sandra Denise (Kenneth) Shifflett, of Stafford, VA; a sister, Ruby L. Bareswilt of Cincinnati, OH ; two stepdaughters, Carmen C. Smith, and Theresa (Harry) Hanbury; two grandsons, Kenny and Doug Shifflett; one granddaughter, Jessica Tyler; one great-granddaughter, Haleigh Tyler; and eleven step grandchildren; Janemarie Mulvey, Harry Hanbury, Austin and Charles Smith, Theresa Foire, Carrie Bryan, Margaret Dupree, Judy, Jane Ellen, Michael and Frederick Bainhauer.

Alan Robertson Ballman, Jr., 61, a resident of Annapolis and previously of Brooklyn Park, MD, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake Inpatient Care Center in Pasadena, with his wife by his side.
 
Alan was born on January 9, 1955 in Baltimore, MD to the late Alan R. and Hazel G. Ballman, Sr. He was a 1973 graduate of Brooklyn Park High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Baltimore in 1978. In 2010, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Math from the University of Maryland, College Park. Alan started his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he worked as a program administrator, then transferred to Amecom Litton Systems as a senior estimator before taking a position as a financial analyst at DRS Technologies, Inc. He also worked at several companies as a consultant.
 
Alan had many interests including cross-word puzzles, computers, history and military engineering, wood crafts and metal working. He enjoyed crabbing and fishing, sailing, and cooking. He was also a member of Galesville United Methodist Church.
 
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen R. Ballman; one brother, Gerald Ballman and his wife Coleen; and one sister, Sharon Miles and her husband, Milton and a niece, Megan Miles, several cousins and close friends.

Robert S. Burdick was born September 1, 1948. He entered the heavenly gates at the age of 67 on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He was the son of the late Robert F. Burdick and Virginia E. Treadwell Burdick. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1967. He worked for Bell Atlantic for 27 years. He sang for the Alexandria Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus, S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. for years and won the International Championship. His most favorite thing to do was sing in church choirs and playing the piano for the children in Sunday school. He loved to sing solos for church. 
 
Mr. Burdick is survived by his wife Mary Jane Burdick, Sister Linda Disharoon, and children Rebekah, Rachel, Mary Elizabeth, Robert Matthew, and his wife Katie Ann. He has 7 grandchildren. Mr. Burdick always had a passion and love for his family and friends. 
 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11am at Providence Fort Washington United Methodist Church 10610 Old Fort Road Fort Washington, MD 20744. All are welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Providence Fort Washington United Methodist Church.

Ralph Harry Suit, Sr., a 14-year resident of Diamondhead, MS and previously of Davidsonville, MD, died on April 6, 2016, of congestive heart failure following a 15-month illness. He was 79.
 
 
 
Born May 30, 1936, in Washington, DC, he worked at the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. as cartographer until his retirement. Following his retirement, he became part owner of GRC Construction. Ralph served in the Korean War as a pipefitter in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post 226 in Edgewater, MD. Ralph enjoyed fishing, traveling, and woodworking.
 
 
 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Helen Joyce Suit on December 4, 2000.
 
 
 
Ralph is survived by his children, Ralph Harry Suit, Jr. of Edgewater, MD and Kimberley Dawn Bush of Diamondhead, MS; three siblings, Charles Edward Suit of Diamondhead, MS, Betty Katherine Kruelle of Edgewater, MD and Shirley Ann Smith of St. Michaels, MD; five grandchildren, Timothy Scott Bush, Jr. of Edgewater, MD, Krescenzia Dawn Bush of Harrisburg, NC, Krister Elias Chrisman of Harwood, MD, Nina Marie Christian of Olympia, WA and Wesley Albert Suit of Annapolis, MD; and three great-grandchildren.

Walter F. Hannan, 64, a 25 year resident of Tracy's Landing, passed away peacefully in Davidsonville on April 6, 2016. "Wally" was born on Jan. 27, 1952 in Washington D.C. to the late William and Anne Hannan. He grew up in Forestville, Md., graduated from Mt. Calvary in 1966, McNamara High School in 1970, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He "enjoyed" a long career with the Prince Georges County Government most recently as a Parts Specialist. 

Walter had many interests. He attended St. Anthony Church where he served as an usher. He was a 20-year member of the Knights of Columbus Calvert Council 7870 where he served 2 years as Grand Knight Trustee Program Chair. He also served on, or helped with Charities including, but not limited to, St. Anthony's Ladies of Charity, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and Prince Georges County's Christmas in April. Walter enjoyed many activities, such as golf, boating, fishing, crabbing, yard sales, auctions, horse racing, crossword puzzles, trivial pursuit, caning chairs, and his favorite: attending Redskins games. Walter had a heart of gold and was loved by many.
