Leonard Stephen “Len” Homa, 89, a 28-year resident of the Annapolis area, passed away peacefully at his home on October 27, 2015. Born on March 1, 1926 in Pottsville, PA, Len served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Dickinson College and went on to pursue his Law Degree at the National Law School/ George Washington University. Len spent his career practicing law in the Washington area. He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Annapolis where he volunteered as an Extraordinary Minister. He was also a 40-year member of the Rotary International and served as a Past President of the North Bethesda Club. An avid Redskins fan, Len was a season ticket holder since 1956.
 
Len was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Helen Homa and his sister, Helen Homa. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Homa; two sons, Michael (Mary) Homa of Baltimore and Dan (Cherie) Homa of Edgewater; one daughter, Joan Homa (Steve) Schultz of Bethesda; three grandsons, Tim and Thomas Homa and Christopher Schultz; four granddaughters, Colleen Homa Williams, Megan and Danielle Homa and Jennifer Schultz; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline Williams.
 
Friends are invited to celebrate Len’s life from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 1 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Barbara Lorraine Manos of Annapolis, MD passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. 

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 55 years, Pete L. Manos; two daughters, Helene Manos of Annapolis and Cindy Manos and husband, Mark of Millersville, MD; her beloved grandson, Anthony; brother, Richard Isper of Ohio and sister, Sandra Caldwell of Virginia; along with many other family, friends and loving pets. 

Barbara received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and went on to pursue a career in teaching. Her true calling though was her family. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Barbara’s strength and wisdom were the foundation of the Manos family. She was devoted to Pete, raising their children, and caring for her grandchild. Barbara loved life and all that it had to offer. She brought joy to many and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Patrick Michael Wallace, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, passed away on October 26, 2015. He was 52 years old.
 
Patrick’s passion for life was always big and beautiful, almost as big and beautiful as his smile. A smile that lit up the room as soon as he walked in. His outgoing personality could make anyone laugh and made everyone feel like a lifelong friend, even if having just met him.
 A graduate of South River High School, Patrick owned his own landscape design business, PM Wallace Design. His talent and creativity was evident in every design he did. Each design received 110% of his attention, and it wasn’t done until it was perfect in his eyes.
 He was an accomplished singer who performed in twelve operas with the Annapolis Opera. Music was an essential part of his life; he enjoyed listening to all types of music, because as he often said, “music soothes my soul”. 

He loved waterskiing, music, food, good wine, a good cigar and engaging in intellectual conversation while having a “Patrick” at Starbucks, a quad short espresso breve macchiato. 
He was always the grill master, and wanted as many family and friends around to enjoy whatever he prepared. And he liked to finish off the night with blowing something up for everyone’s enjoyment-fireworks! Yes, he loved to blow things up.
 
Patrick is survived by his parents, Joseph and Candita Wallace of Edgewater, his spouse of 16 years, Lisa Wood, his brother Kevin Wallace and his spouse Sandy, of Edgewater, his brother Joseph Wallace Jr. and his spouse Laura, of Goshen, NH and two sons, Nathaniel Melton of Chillicothe, Ohio and Ryan Ferte of Crofton, Md. , as well as many other family members here and in Puerto Rico. Patrick was predeceased by his brother Robert Wallace.

On October 24, 2015 Jeffrey Hayes Luther of Annapolis and formerly of the Eastern Shore passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center from a heart valve disorder. 

Jeffrey was born on April 11, 1971 in Maryland to Shirley Eaton, and was later adopted by George and Jeanette Luther. He was a graduate of Queen Anne's High School, who loved fishing and fixing things. 

Jeffrey is survived by his parents George and Jeanette Luther; a sister Apryl Collins of Florida; a brother Marcus Luther of Pennsylvania; a fiancée Donna Bradshaw and her family along with several loving friends.

On Saturday, October 24, 2015, Ralph Wentworth passed away at his home with his loving wife, Suzanne at his side. 

Ralph was born on March 2, 1943, in Albuquerque, NM to the late John and Beryl Wentworth. At a young age, his family moved to Kansas were Ralph lived until he joined the U.S. Navy. After a long military career during which he would see action in Vietnam and rise to the rank of CW03, Ralph entered the private sector to work for Raytheon as a project manager. 

Ralph is survived by his wife of 24 years, Suzanne; three daughters, Sandara, Cristina, and JoAnne. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday October 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037.

FRANK EDWARD MITCHELL, 81
 
Frank Edward Mitchell passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in Ft. Washington, Maryland, at the age of 81. He was born August 12, 1934 to Frank and Martha (Ingram) Mitchell in Memphis, Tennessee. 
Frank graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis. He subsequently attended UCLA and served in the U.S. Air Force. Frank was a successful entrepreneur who founded Multivac Inc., a janitorial services company in the Washington, DC area, in addition to being part owner of Mercel GMC Trucks in Wichita Falls, Texas. 
Frank was an avid golfer who registered 3 hole-in-ones during his golf career. He was also an accomplished singer in his own right, stealing the show at every karaoke opportunity. He was truly the life of the party. 
Frank is survived by his 2 sons: Frank Jr. and his wife Brenda of Ft. Washington, MD; and Erick and his wife Jennifer of Washington, DC; former spouse, Joyce A.G. Mitchell of Rockville, MD; 3 grandchildren, Frank III and his wife Theresa of Hyattsville, MD, Tanisha Mitchell of Ft. Washington, MD and Carter Paul Mitchell of Washington, DC. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Frances Davis, his 2 brothers Henry and Eddie Mitchell, and his first wife Eleanor Rose Mitchell.

Donald Greenwell, of Annapolis, MD, and previously of Eastport, MD, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Born on January 15, 1950 in Annapolis, MD, to Betty and the late Joseph Greenwell, Donald lived his entire life in the Annapolis area. 

After graduating from high school he would become a survey engineer for John Harms and Associates for over 30 years. Donald was a family guy who enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting, working in his garden and watching the Orioles and Ravens. 

Donald is survived by his mother, Betty; his wife of 42 years, Christine; his son, Mark (Laura) of Denton, MD; two brothers, Joseph, Jr. of Stevensville, MD and William of Annapolis, MD; three grandchildren, Bailey Greenwell of Leesville, SC, Bridget and Aubrey Greenwell of Denton.

Emmett was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 11, 1931. Emmett graduated from St. Paul's Academy in 1949 and worked at the Library of Congress from 1949 until 1952. In 1952 Emmett joined the Marine Corps and stayed active duty until 1954. After Emmett left the Marine Corps he returned to the Library of Congress working his way up from a Page to the Assistant Chief of the Collection Management Division. After working 40 years Emmett retired in 1989. Emmett and Christine a.k.a. Shirley enjoyed 46 wonderful years together.

Lula Corrine Hughes, of Annapolis, MD, died on October 20, 2015 at Fairfield Nursing Center in Crownsville, MD. She was 92.
 
Known as Corrine to family and friends, she was born on August 11, 1923 in Dublin, VA to the late Lee Howard Spencer and Josie Blanche Owen. Corrine was a longtime member of Weems Creek Baptist Church and sang in their choir. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing Uno and Skip-Bo and being surrounded by family and friends. Corrine will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Hughes in 1998; a son, John Hughes; five siblings, Everett, Lee and Robert Spencer, Lila Lowman and Maggie Ellison.
 
Corrine is survived by a daughter, Wanda Melton of Harwood, MD; a brother, Jack Spencer of Edgewater, MD; two grandchildren, Shawn Hughes of Chicago, IL and Karen Love of Prosper, TX; and six great-grandchildren.

Robert Lee “Bob” Hamilton, Sr., 84, of Mitchellville, MD, passed away on October 20, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Davidsonville. Bob was born on July 30, 1931 in Washington, DC. Bob’s parents died when he was very young and he was raised and loved by Henry and Marguerite Hamilton as if he were their own. Bob graduated from Frederick Sasscer High School in Upper Marlboro in 1950 and served for four years in the U.S. Air Force Military Police during the Korean War. Bob worked as a steamfitter for John J. Kirlin, Co., for most of his career. He valued hard work and was a member of the Steamfitters Local 602. He was also a member of the Elks, Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion. Bob enjoyed farming, hunting, bowling, and making and selling wooden crafts, dancing and traveling with his wife Lee.
 
Bob was preceded in death by his former wife, Betty Anne Nicholson; stepdaughter, Ginny Sweeney and five siblings. He is survived by his wife, Leona Hamilton, whom he married in 1992; three children, Robert Lee Hamilton, Jr. (Karen), Betty Jo (Marty) Vermillion and Robin (Chris) Boerckel; his first wife, Betty Anne’s three children whom he raised as his own, Patty Rossback-Barr, Bobby (Cathy) Rossback and Barbara (Neal) Allen; and his wife Leona’s children, Karen Whitney (Bill) and Sheila (Ray) Alcorn; three sisters, Roberta Zierhart and Jeanette Choloski of Virginia and Evelyn Scarborough of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Jessica Hamilton, Robert Lee Hamilton III, Timmy Hamilton, Kristin Boerckel, Maegan Yarbrough, Jake Vermillion, Amber Hamilton, Nick Vermillion and Nathan Vermillion. Thirteen step-grandchildren, twenty step-great grandchildren, and his first biological great grandchild, Robert Lee Hamilton IV, due any day.

Mary "Sil" Priscilla O’Neill , a 50-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Tracy’s Landing, MD, died on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was 83.
 
Born December 4, 1931 in Tracy’s Landing, MD, she graduated from Southern High School and the Eaton Burnette School of Business in Baltimore, MD. Mary was employed at Farmers National Bank in Annapolis, MD from 1965-85. She was a longtime member of St. James' Parish and enjoyed family, beach time with her grandchildren and playing Scrabble.
 
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth O’Neill, whom she married on December 17, 1949; her second husband, Donald Rossi; a son, Donald O’Neill; and her siblings, Joseph L., Samuel and McClane Gibson, Virginia Hohing and Mildred Harrison.
 
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Davis and her husband, Chuck of Annapolis, MD; a son, Steve O’Neill and his wife, Judy of Tracy’s Landing, MD; five grandchildren, Steve O’Neill and his wife, Marilyn of Jupiter , FL, Natalie Henderson and her husband, Kyle of Millersville, MD, Shawn O’Neill and his wife, Angie of Raleigh, NC, Priscilla Tallon and her husband, Glenn of Baltimore, MD and Devin O’Neill and his fiancé, Julie of Los Angeles, CA; a former daughter-in-law, Patricia O'Neill Hays and her husband, Bill; and two great-grandsons, Miller and Matthew Henderson.

Robert Cromwell Davis "Bob", 66, a fifty year resident of Mayo and Edgewater, died on Friday, October 16 at his residence due to a heart attack. Born on October 5, 1949 in Washington, D.C. to the late Shell Carter and Betty Lou Davis, Bob graduated from Annapolis High School and then served in the U.S. Navy where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a supervisor with the John C. Flood Company of D.C. and was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 226 in Mayo. Bob enjoyed playing slot machines, keno, scratch offs and traveling to Las Vegas. He is survived by his wife, Linda Davis, whom he married on March 15, 1969; his children; Randy Davis of Millersville and Melanie Davis of Edgewater; his brothers, Carter and Stanley Davis, both of Mayo and Mel Davis of Edgewater; his sisters, Rena Fallon and Lucy Miller, both of Florida; his grandchildren, Michael and Markus Dupree and Kiara Spence, all of Edgewater. Dorothy Virginia Marceron "Dottie", 91, a resident of Harwood for twenty-two years and formerly of Lusby, died on Thursday, October 15. Born on March 26, 1924 in Washington, D.C., Dottie attended school in the District and was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed bingo, gardening and bird watching. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Linward Marceron, Sr. who died on April 23, 1994. They were married on January 26, 1943. She is survived by her children, Janet (Mick) Cook of Mt. Airy, MD, Lenny (Joanna) Marceron, Jr. of Inwood, WV and Ginny (Russ) Donaldson of Harwood, MD, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Doris Stagaard Gupton, 93, resident of Annapolis, MD died at home on Wednesday October 14, 2015. Born on February 15, 1922 in Middlesex Borough, NJ, Doris served in the Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service (WAVES US Navy) from 1942 to 1946 and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. She was a long time member of the Forest Garden Club in Prince George’s County. She was employed in the business office of the C & P Telephone Company in Washington, DC.
 She enjoyed travelling abroad, visiting her home in Southern Shores NC, golf, reading, gardening and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewing L. Gupton, Jr in 2004 and two siblings, Stanley Stagaard and June Sutton. Doris is survived by two daughters, Randy Childs (Walter) of Cape Charles, VA and Meredith Vandendriessche (Alan) of Annapolis, MD; six grandchildren Sara Craven( Mike), Jeffrey Childs( Melissa), Emily Childs, Kristen Umana (Jose), Elizabeth Vandendriessche (Ryan Faber) and John Vandendriessche; and eight great grand children. John K. “Buddie” Watkins, 92, a resident of Riva, MD, passed away on October 12, 2015 at the Homestead Manor in Denton, MD. Born on July 19, 1923 in Annapolis, MD, Buddie attended St. Mary’s schools. He served as a Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Buddie pursued a 39-year career as a Lineman with the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. in Annapolis. In his spare time, Buddie enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He served as a youth football and baseball coach for many years for the Riva Athletic Association and Elks Club and also served as a Boy Scout leader. Buddie was a member of the Elks of Annapolis and a life member and past Chief of the Riva Volunteer Fire Department. 

Buddie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillie Gray Watkins who died in 1978. He is survived by two sons, Butch Watkins of Easton, MD and Mike Watkins of Denton, MD; two daughters, JoAnn Snead of Riva, MD and Bridget Moss of Cordova, MD; one sister, Jean Koehler of Hillsmere, MD, eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Clare Hiller Drake, 95, of Severna Park, MD and previously Melbourne, FL, passed away on October 11, 2015 in Columbia, MD. Born on August 26, 1920 in Mitchellville, MD to the late Walter and Emma Entzian, she graduated from Upper Marlboro High School and the Stanfield and Wood Secretarial School. Clare was a true servant and true woman of faith, devoting herself to her family and tirelessly volunteering her time and talents to many churches, hospices and hospitals. She also enjoyed traveling, entertaining, cooking and baking.
 
Clare was preceded in death by her husbands, Fredrick J. Hiller, whom she married in 1942 and who died in 1989, and Robert S. Drake, whom she married in 1995 and who died in 2003; one son, Alan Hiller; brother, Herman Entzian and two sisters, Lydia O’Bannon and Alice Glascock. She is survived by three sons, John Hiller of Port Isabel, TX, David Hiller and his wife, Anita of The Colony, TX and Stephen Hiller and his wife, Susan of Severna Park, MD, one daughter, Jeanie Lawrence and her husband, Richard of The Colony, TX; brother, Ernest Entzian of Port Tobacco, MD; sister, Elsie Cullins of Pasadena, MD; one daughter-in-law, Jean Hiller; three grandsons, Michael, Eric and James Hiller; eight granddaughters, Kimberly Ramirez, Heather Hahn, Kristin Miller, Lisa Dixon, Laurie Smariek, Nicole Boyd, Stacey Sanchez and Jodi Lawrence; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
 
Friends are invited to celebrate Clare’s life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD where Clare’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. 

Burial at Arlington National Cemetery is scheduled for Tuesday December 8, 2015 at 11 AM. If you wish to attend the burial you will need to be at the administration building on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery no later than 10:15 AM.

Cynthia C. Johnson "Cyndie", 55, a resident of Edgewater, MD for nine years and previously of Forestville, MD, died on October 9, 2015 at her residence. Born on December 1, 1959 at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, PA, to the late Allan Dale "A.D." and Sylvia Graebner-Johnson, Cyndie graduated from Suitland High School in Suitland, MD and worked in the mortgage banking industry and volunteered with Hospice of the Chesapeake. She was known for being very fashionable, golden glitz and glitter was her trademark. Cyndie was a devoted Christian and in her spare time enjoyed animals (critters), music and dancing. She loved her family, especially her grandsons and was looking forward to moving in with her daughter, son in law and grand-babies. In addition to her parents, Cyndie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Alvin "Cy" Graebner. She is survived by her daughter, Ashton Johnson and her husband, Chris Rogers of North Bend, PA; her grandmother, June Graebner; her brother, Grant A. Johnson; her sister, Diana Dee McEachran all of Edgewater, MD; grandsons, Christopher L. and Bradlee Allan Rogers of North Bend, PA and a niece, DMolleigh McEachran of Edgewater, MD. LCDR Travis Wilson Haire of Kaneohe, HI, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Tripler Medical Center in Honolulu. He was 39. Haire was born on February 24, 1976 in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated class of 1994 from East Liverpool High School in Ohio. He attended the Naval Nuclear Power School followed by graduating class of 2000 from the United States Naval Academy. Haire served aboard the USS Parche, the USS Maryland, and was Flag Secretary to the Superintendent of the Naval Academy. He was most recently serving as the Future Operations Officer and Submarine Liaison Officer at Naval Special Warfare Group Three in Pearl Harbor, HI. Haire’s personal awards include five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals. In 2013, he married Joshua Polanco and they lived together in Annapolis, MD, San Diego, CA, and made a home for themselves in Kaneohe, HI, with their Saint Bernard, Daffodil. In addition to Joshua and Daffodil, Haire is survived by his parents, Hal and Deborah Haire, his sister Tracie Haire Kerstetter, brother-in-law Jon, niece Rylie, and nephew Colton, his brother Troy Haire and sister-in-law Missy, and a tremendous camaraderie of friends. Memorial services were held at the Pearl Harbor Memorial Chapel on October 15. A viewing for friends and family will be held on October 22 from 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A funeral service will be at the United States Naval Academy Chapel on October 23 at 10:00 AM. Haire will be inurned in the Academy’s columbarium immediately following the service. Memorial donations can be made in Haire’s name to the USNA Foundation, 291 Wood Road, Beach Hall, Annapolis, MD 21402-1254.
