Kurt Kingston Leddy, 61, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2026, due to heart failure. Born on August 19, 1964, in Annapolis, MD, Kurt grew up in Annapolis and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1982. Always a loyal Annapolis Panther, Kurt played on the high school golf team and went on to earn his PGA Professional status, passing his playing ability test on his very first attempt, a testament to the dedication and natural talent that defined his life in the game.

Kurt spent over 35 years as a highly respected Class A PGA Golf Professional, a distinction he carried with immense pride. He shared his love of the game at courses throughout the region, including the United States Naval Academy, Eisenhower, Prospect Bay, and Upland, among others. To those who knew him on the course, he was not just a professional — he was a mentor, an encourager, and a true ambassador of the game he loved.

But it was away from the fairways where Kurt's greatest qualities shone brightest. He moved through the world with a warm handshake, a wide smile, and a laugh that could fill any room. His kindness was effortless and his loyalty was unwavering — to his colleagues, to his friends, and above all, to his family. To meet Kurt was to love him, and that was never an accident. It was simply who he was.

His proudest role of all was that of father. Kurt was a devoted and beaming dad to his two sons, Jacob and Lucas, who were, without question, his greatest joy. He spoke of them with a pride that needed no words to confirm — it was written all over his face.

Kurt is survived by his sons, Jacob and Lucas Leddy; his mother, Linda Leddy and his brother, Michael Leddy — all beloved, all cherished and all a reflection of the man he was.

The world is quieter without his laugh. But every fairway he ever walked, and every life he ever touched, carries a piece of him forward.

Charles Russell “Russ” Fink, 95 passed on Monday, March 16 after a lengthy illness. He was the eldest son of the late Charles Russell and Margaret Louise Harmon Fink. He was the beloved husband of 42 years of Albina Baris Fink; father of Laura Fink (William) Doucet, Michael (Donna), Daniel (Edie), Julie (Pat) Keane, Sabrina (Jeff) Myers, George (Tammy), Theresa (Mike) Schmidt and the late Dr. Charles “Chuck” Fink; brother of Lawrence “Gene” (Elaine), Francis “Bernie” (Barbara), Joseph (Carol), Kevin (Susan), Mary Pat. He is preceded in death by Margaret Louise “Dolly” Fink, Sarah Fink Zinke, John James “Jim” Fink, Dr. William Harmon “Bill” Fink, Raymond Gerald “Jerry” Fink and was husband of the late Margaret Howard Fink and Joyce Zimmerman Fink. He is survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren (and growing!) in whom he delighted.

Known by his family as Russ, Charlie was a man of deep faith, intelligence, boundless energy and sense of responsibility to family and community. He loved and honored his mother and father, exemplifying their work ethic and devotion to God, cared deeply for his 10 brothers and sisters, treasured his 8 children and cherished his wife.

He was accepted into the Coast Guard Academy at the age of 17, made sustained friendships with fellow servicemen, and remained proud of his service to his country for his entire life. He had a brilliant mind and, after leaving the Coast Guard, he continued as a Nuclear Engineer with Martin Marietta Corp, being involved in many innovative projects including the design of the Vanguard 1 satellite, the first solar powered satellite successfully launched by the USA in 1958 and still in space today, as well as the isotope-fueled thermoelectric power systems for the IMP and NIMBUS satellites. He went on to eventually start his own companies in New Hampshire in the early solar energy field, developed a wheelchair that could “walk” up stairs, and designed a Tuned Spere that could be used for floating cities and offshore drilling platforms. Professionally, he was a well-honored and recognized engineer much sought after in the field of innovative energy development.

Most importantly to him, he lived his life in Faith and with the Golden Rule “love your neighbor as you love yourself”. He treated everyone he met like a friend and knew his job on earth was to hold up and celebrate every life he encountered. No one could escape a “Charlie” hug or handshake and was glad of it. Always putting his Faith to work, he was a vital member of the Knights of Columbus, rising to the rank of Grand Knight. He was a spirited determined force of the annual Tootsie Roll Drive, raising money for the Anne Arundel County Central Special School. Everyone was welcome to a hearty “thank you” and a tootsie roll or two. He was a very active member of the Gabriel project, raising funds in support of unwed mothers and their unborn with regular “baby showers”, a cause very dear to his heart as every life was considered a gift from God. When it came time for the Red Cross Blood Drive, he was dauntless in drumming up willing participants at each event throughout the year, especially initiating the 9/11 Blood Drive in South County. He and his wife also worked together tirelessly delivering Meals on Wheels in their community, as well as working very closely with South County Faith Network, filling in wherever needed, with Charlie especially becoming recognized for building handicap ramps throughout the county. He and his wife, Bina, were also devout members of the Dominicans through Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, and Charlie earned Third Order Dominican.

Charlie ‘Russ’ and Bina spent their free time with their very large family, traveling throughout the country, gardening and raising orchids, for which he was well known. He will always be remembered for being a good neighbor, his willingness to give of himself without hesitation, his joy of Life, his delight in his great big, wonderful extended family and especially remembered for his tremendous HUGS. Pass ‘em on. He would love that.

A Memorial Mass will be held on April 11, at 12:30 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River, MD with a Celebration of Life Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Gabriel Project at gabrielnetwork.org

Michael “Meho” Morarin, of Denton, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 61 years old.

Michael was born on October 11, 1964, to the late John Morarin, Jr. and Patricia Louise Morarin. He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where he proudly supported his hometown teams—the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. He was also a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Above all else, Michael’s greatest joy in life was his daughter, Kailey, who was truly his heart and soul. He also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures - camping, bonfires, music and lyrics, time spent at the beach, and being with family and friends. He especially enjoyed shooting his many guns, as well as his favorite strawberry margaritas.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, John Patrick Morarin.

He is survived by his daughter, Kailey Morarin of Grasonville, Maryland; his sister, Michelle Shamus of Fenton, Missouri; his nephews, Tony (Diana) Shamus, Patrick Shamus, and Gavin Morarin; and his great-nieces, Harper Shamus, Kaitlyn Grace, and Haley Grace.

A full obituary will be posted here soon.

William “Bill” E. Haygood, 66, died peacefully on March 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Bill was the son of William M. and Mary E. Haygood. A lifelong resident of Annapolis except for the early years of his marriage, he lived on Whitehall Creek for 52 years.
Bill attended St. Mary’s Catholic Schools in Annapolis and later graduated with a degree in marine biology from the Florida Institute of Technology. He began his career at Charles County Health Department and then worked for over 30 years at Calvert County Health Department in the Division of Environmental Health. He was director of the Division at the time of his retirement.
Bill enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards, reading and strategic board and computer games.
Bill was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his kindness, and his devotion to his marriage and home. During his illness, he displayed courage, dignity, and grace and experienced a spiritual rejuvenation that was a great comfort to him.
Bill is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Barbara Gay Haygood (née Chellis), but he already was a part of her family long before their marriage. Bill was a good friend to Gay’s two brothers beginning in his teen years, and he started vacationing with her family not long afterwards. When his mother died, his mother-in-law became like a second mother, and he helped with her care as she grew older. During his retirement, weekly card games with family members maintained ties and continued until the end of his life. With his death, the family has lost so much more than a brother-in-law.
Services are private.
