Steven Joseph Small, 54, of Stevensville died at home on October 3 after a battle with cancer.
 
Born July 2, 1956, in Annapolis, Steve was the son of the late Joseph and Jean Small. He graduated from Annapolis High School in 1974. 

He began working at Britt’s Department Store in Parole in 1974. After leaving Britt’s in 1978 he began a plumbing career with Smith and Rawlings until 1985. He earned his Master Plumber’s license in 1984. Two years later he opened Tidewater Plumbing, Inc. which he successfully owned and operated for the past 24 years. Steve was also an instructor for Associated Builders and Contractors’ apprenticeship program.
 
Steve enjoyed model trains, cruising, photography, bowling, golf, Apple computers and Disney. He immensely enjoyed the beach, boardwalk, and sightseeing in Ocean City, MD and was an active member on the Board of Directors at the Tiburon Condominium Association in Ocean City. Steve was a founding member of the Kent Island Elks #2576.
 
Steve is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janice A. Small (nee Purdy), one daughter, Kristina E. Gulbin and her husband, James of Centreville, and a grandchild on the way.

In the company of his loving family, departed this life at morning''s first light on October 2, 2010. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Maria; his daughters, Nina, Sharon,Pamela and Elfie; their husbands, Barney, Bib, Barrett and Larry; grandchildren, Lisa, Jonathan, Megan, and Kristopher; his great-grandson, Hunter; as well as the countless friends he touched over his 91 years. Born in the farm town of Antigo, Wisconsin in 1919, Daniel traveled the world during his professional career in the US Army as an intelligence Officer in the Second World War and as one of the first Army Officers inducted into the Office of Special Services and later the Central Intelligence Agency. He served his country honorably for over twenty years traveling throughout South and Latin America. He established and managed corporations in Wisconsin before relocating to Florida where he began a highly successful career as a building engineer and manager for some of the largest condominiums in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Throughout his years in Florida he was active in his church servicing multiple charitable organizations benefiting those less fortunate. Daniel was a man of faith, family and friends and those that called him Friend did so with admiration, respect and love. In lieu of flowers, he would have preferred donations to those that help others in need. Life Story
 
Charon LaTeia Melvin was born at Greater Southeast Hospital in Washington, D.C. on August 22, 1981 to Calvin & Margaret (Davis) Melvin.
 
Charon was educated in the Prince Georges’ county public schools. She continued her education at Towson University & Bowie State University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Pedology. Being the forever learning person that she was, Charon studied Audiology at George Washington University and later obtained a Master’s degree in Psychology at Bowie State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
 
As a student and intern, she worked for the Prince Georges’ County elementary school system, the Department of Energy & Chrysalis House. Upon obtaining her Master’s degree, Charon was employed by Chrysalis House as a Mental Health Therapist. Charon enjoyed talking with people and helping them through their problems. She was very wise for her age and gave excellent unbiased advice. Charon was also a licensed Real Estate agent for several years with Fairfax Realty, Inc.
 
In 2005, Charon married her high school sweetheart and first love Derrick (Shaun). From this union, God blessed them with two beautiful children, Darius Samuel (2 years) and Candice Lael (9 months).
 
Charon grew up at Greater Morning Star Pentecostal Church under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Ramsey N. Butler and Bishop Charles E. Johnson. She was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the age of twelve. She remained sold out to God and faithful to Him until He called her home.
 
In 1997, Charon became a member of Prayer Center Restoration Church under the pastoral tutelage of Pastors Prince Davis & Pastor Leroy Davis. There she was the Youth Leader, a Sunday School Teacher, a Worship Leader and a very faithful servant until her hospitalization. Even on her most painful days, if there was service, she wanted to be in the presence of the Lord. She stated the worst part of her illness was not being able to worship the Lord like she wanted to.
 
Early Friday morning, October 1, 2010, God called Charon home. She took a quick flight after she and the Lord had a conversation and He showed her the end of her faith. Though Charon lived a short life, it had great quality and it touched in some positive way, everyone who knew her.
 
Charon leaves to cherish her rich memories: her devoted husband, Derrick (Shaun); son, Darius Samuel; daughter, Candice Lael; father, Calvin Melvin; mother, Margaret Melvin; one sister, Martia Melvin; father in law, Herb Williams; mother in law, Linda Williams; one brother in law, Steven; two sisters in law, Alexandria & Alyssa; one grandmother, Annie Mae Davis; one grandmother-in-law, Joyce Maxwell; one grandfather-in-law, Kenneth Maxwell Sr.; a host of special aunts and uncles; a special sister/aunt, Barbara; a special brother/cousin, Cortlind; one godson, Jerah; God-parents, Dorothy Williams and Timothy & Rosa Brewington; and a host of cousins and special friends. 


Services will be held Saturday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Morning Star Apostolic Ministries, 1700 Ritchie-Marlboro Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD.

Lucille B. Friedrich (nee Chenault), 84, of Edgewater died Friday, October 1, 2010. She was born in New Town, Va. and moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she lived with her brother and his family throughout her teen and younger adult years. She moved to Edgewater in 1962 where she and her husband raised their family and resided for the remainder of their lives. Her beloved husband of 50 years, Otto Friedrich, passed away in March 2007.

Lucille is survived by her two children, Linda Allen and Dianna Kruszka, and two grandchildren, John Waltrup and Brandon Kruszka.

Elizabeth Bonita Zeller “Bonnie”, 64, a 31-year resident of Davidsonville, died Sunday, September 26, after a 16-month battle with liver cancer.

Bonnie was born August 30, 1946 in Brooklyn Park and was the daughter of the late Moses and Elizabeth Reeves. She married Gerard Zeller in 1964. She received a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in 1994. She worked for the Anne Arundel County government for 17 years in various positions including the Budget Office and the Department of Aging from which she retired in 2006. Bonnie enjoyed writing, reading, traveling, genealogy research and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Bonnie was predeceased by her sister, Sally Reeves of College Park, Ga. and her brother, David Reeves, Sr. of Glen Burnie.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Kimberlee and her husband, Brent Shaw of Annapolis, Karen and her husband, Robert Crosby of Bowie, and Mark Zeller of Baltimore; one sister, Elaine Lombardi of Easton; and one brother, Stephen Reeves of Glen Burnie. Also survived by five grandchildren, Rebecca and Connor Shaw, Abigail and Benjamin Crosby, and Luke Zeller.

Boyd Ingram, 92, a longtime resident of Harwood, MD died on September 26, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD of natural causes.
 
Born December 9, 1917 in Buckhorn, KY, he was employed as a farm manager for Larking Hill Farm in Harwood, MD for 25 years. Boyd served in the U.S. Army during WWII, including a tour at Ft. Robinson in Crawford, NE as part of the Cavalry Division. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Redskins and the University of Kentucky Basketball.
 
He was the beloved husband of Norma Lee Ingram, whom he married on January 21, 1941; father of Boyd Bennett (Juanita) Ingram of Lenexa, KS, Emma Lee (Bill) Berry of Brightwood, VA and Debra (Bruce) Angevine of Riva, MD; brother of James G. Ingram of Jackson, KY. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Wanda Jo Caesar, age 80, a two year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Upper Marlboro, MD died on Sunday, September 26 at South River Health & Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, MD.
 
Born on May 1, 1930 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Samuel and Lou Frost, Wanda Jo graduated from high school in Oklahoma City and was a homemaker for most of her life. From 1983-95 she worked as a secretary at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, Billerica, MA. A member of Chapter 212 Order of the Eastern Star in Billerica, MA for sixty plus years, the First Baptist Church in Tewksbury, MA and past president of the Grange in Andover, MA. Wanda Jo loved music, playing the accordion, the piano, roller skating, traveling, camping and singing in the church choir.
 
She is survived by her husband, Clarence G. Caesar; 3 sons, Lawrence A. Young of McLean, VA, Harold S. Caesar of Gurnee, IL and Darrin D. Caesar of Raleigh, NC; 3 daughters, Janice Y. Young of Arvada, CO, Cheryl A. Wilson of Ft. Washington, MD and Ina F. Dixon of West Haven, CT; a brother, James S. Frost of Kingston, OK; 2 sisters, Lorene Baldwin of Harrah, OK and Muriel J. Gatlin of Mustang, OK, ten grandchildren and one great-grandson. Wanda Jo was pre-deceased by a brother, Warner D.C. Frost and 2 sisters, Pauline Nation and Louise Harvell. 

A committal service will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 3:00 pm at the Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium. (Those attending are asked to gather at the Administration Building at 2:30 pm.) In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Frederic Maxcy “Rip” Hewitt, 94, of Annapolis, died September 26. He was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Baltimore, and was the son of James Richard and Caro Maxcy Hewitt. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1935, where he lettered in lacrosse, football and ice hockey, and later served as president of the Poly Alumni Association. In 1941, he received his B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Maryland, where he was the president of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Delta Phi Chapter and played several sports, including football and lacrosse. He coached junior varsity lacrosse from 1940 to 1941, and was a life member of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers in 1941, serving in the European Theatre, and earned the Bronze Star, Ninth Army, Rhine River Campaign. He was discharged as Major in 1946, whereupon he enlisted in the Maryland National Guard, and served as Commander of the 121st Engineers Battalion, 29th Infantry Division. He retired in 1961 as Colonel after 20 years of military service. He played lacrosse for the Mt. Washington Lacrosse Club from 1932 to 1942 and 1946 to 1951, where he served as assistant coach and head coach from 1952 to 1956. In 1948, he was a member of the U.S. Men’s Field Hockey Team at the London Olympics. Rip worked in HVAC sales and contracting and was a partner and later president of Taze & Hewitt Engineers before his retirement in 1980. He was a past president of the Baltimore Engineering Society, the Baltimore Rotary Club, the Lacrosse Hall of Fame Foundation and the U.S. Olympians Capital Chapter. He was an active member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers) for many years. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and an active church leader, serving as a Vestryman and Diocesan leader. Over his life, he received many honors, including the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition from the Baltimore Rotary Club. He was elected into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1971 and the University of Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984. He received the Baltimore Engineering Society Founders Award in 1984 and the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute Distinguished Alumni Award in 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James R. Hewitt and Barton G. Hewitt; and sister, Blanche H. Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Sallie Willis Hewitt; three daughters, Carol H. Melvin of Eden, N.C., Kay H. Holmes (P.K.) of Ft. Smith, AR and Betsy H. Schreitmueller (Alan R.) of Annapolis; four grandchildren, James Frederic Melvin, Lucy Melvin, Christopher Holmes and Stephen Holmes; one great-granddaughter, Cecilia Melvin; cousin, Frederic R. Kevin Edward Joyce, 75 was born December 7, 1934 in Boston Mass.
 
After a brief illness he passed at his home "Bridge Hill", which is located in Davidsonville, Md. Kevin lived his young life in Randolph, Mass. He was a star Baseball player. 

His legal training was at George Washington University School of Law.
 Kevin was an outstanding Patent and litigation Lawyer practicing with Cushman and Darby and Cushman of Washington D.C. and served as Managing partner. 

After his retirement from Law he became a "fulltime" sportsman in ice-hockey and played every chance he could get with the "Gerihatricks", even in the middle of the night. 

He also enjoyed mountain Biking which took him, Sabine and friends to most interesting places.
 
Most recently he developed a true love of croquet, traveling to West Palm Beach, Florida for advanced instruction. He was a player extraordinary with the "West River Wickets". 

Besides his athletic career he performed guitar and vocal with a Band called "Noisy Waters". Kevin began his music-career by having piano lessons by the funeral director of a funeral home, which were disrupted many times by funerals. Their band played mostly folksongs. They were very popular, playing for many events around town.
 
Kevin was a member of the Davidsonville Ruritan Club where he served with pride as a chair of the Scholarship Committee His expertise on the farm was fully appreciated. And he was generous to provide legal advise to all his friends. 

Kevin's parents Genevieve Brown Joyce and Edward Joyce predeceased him. His family includes his wife Sabine Joyce, daughter's Petra Joyce, Kara Joyce Getchell and her Husband Reed and beloved grandson Brexton Edward Getchell, from Unity, Maine.

Angeline Terrizzi, a resident of Sunrise of Severna Park and formerly of Washington, DC, passed away Friday, September 24, 2010. She was born May 30, 1918 in Anita, PA and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Mondi. Angie grew up in Barnesboro, PA (Northern Cambria) with her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
 
She married Tony J. Terrizzi in 1946. They moved quite frequently due to his military career before settling in Washington, DC in 1963. She worked at the Sears Roebuck & Co. on Alabama Avenue in Southeast Washington for 15 years and continued living in the District until moving to Severna Park in 2004.
 
Mrs. Terrizzi was very active with the Ladies Guild and Sodality at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Her hobbies included crafts of all kinds, sewing, cake decorating and reading.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; her sister, Frances Mondi and her brothers, Frank and Joseph Renda and Larry Mondi. She is survived by two daughters, Toni Thomas of Edgewater and Joanne Lang of Severna Park; two sisters, Edith Mondi of Barnesboro, PA and Josephine Neri of Hanover, PA and twin brothers, Dominic Mondi of Brighton, MI and Angelo Mondi of Barnesboro, PA as well as five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Francis William Lombard “Frank”, 57, a 6-year resident of Havre de Grace, died Friday, September 24, 2010. He was born September 18, 1953 in Washington, D.C. and was the son of Theodore and Margaret Lombard who currently reside in Harwood. 

Frank was a graduate of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. and Dundalk Community College. He worked as a counselor at Father Martin’s Ashley in Havre de Grace where he was recognized by his peers as a wise and dedicated counselor to those struggling with addiction. Frank’s family treasured his sense of humor and his gifted writings.
 
In addition to his parents, Frank is survived by his wife, Dee Ann Lombard of Pasadena; one son, Joshua Louis Lombard of Severn; two daughters, Sarah Caitlin Imagine Lombard and Jillian Lacey Lombard, both of Pasadena; one stepson, Michael Steven Scott of Baltimore; two brothers, Thomas A. Lombard of Laurel and Joseph Lombard of Kenilworth, Ill., seven sisters, Julia Ann Venuti of Harwood, Catherine Langer of Washington, D.C., Ann Marie Pessagno of Harwood, Mary St. Denis of Riva, and Monica Louise Phillips, Margarat Hagan Maurizi and Patricia Clyne Case, all of Fairfax, Va. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Emma Katherine Lombard.

John “Bill” William Howes, Jr., of Millersville, MD and previously of Annapolis, MD and Churchton, MD died on September 24, 2010 at North Arundel Health and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
 
Born February 24, 1950 in Annapolis, MD, to the late Mary G. and John W. Howes, Sr., he graduated from Southern High School and Trade School in Lothian, MD. Billy was employed as a telephone clerk for Papa Johns and previously sold catalog order for Sears. He volunteered with the Red Cross. His memberships included the Knights of Columbus, St. Bernadette Council #11214 and the Admiral Benson, 4th degree assembly. Bill enjoyed computers, boating, the Orioles, the Ravens and spending time with his family and friends.
 
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cook Howes; his daughter, Amy Marie Howes; his siblings, Thomas G. Howes of Nashville, TN, Edward L. Howes of Delaware, Marie M. Krause of Annapolis, MD and Teresa A. Howes of Annapolis, MD.

On Tuesday, September 21, 2010; the beloved wife of the late Master CPO Elmer M. Perrigo, USN(Ret.); mother of Ernest M. and David L. Perrigo. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Alex James Smith of Lothian, Maryland, previously of Lanham, Maryland died peacefully at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born on September 10, 1922 in Hooversville, PA to the late Louis and Johanna Soltis Smith. After graduating from high school, Alex served and retired from the US Army. He was in the 101st Airborne and served his country with distinction in three wars, WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during WWII. After retiring from the Army in 1963, he worked for the Postal Service until 1986. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and puttering with mechanical things, particularly automobiles. He was also an avid Washington Redskins fan. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his wife, Mary Bernice Smith in April of 1998 after 50 years of marriage. He is survived by one daughter, Gail M. Smith of Croom, MD and one sister Peggy of Coral Gables, FL. Family and friends are invited to Alex’s Life Celebration on Thursday, September 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8p.m. at George P. On Monday, September 20, 2010; the beloved wife of the late Salvador Danan; mother of Cely Manansala, Belle Tolentino, Ador Danan, Dolly Danan, Ely Paule, Ferdie Danan, and Judith Dumlao; sister of Carmelino Beltran and Profetisa Mayo. She is aslo survived by 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Teresita's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P.
