On Sunday, October 16, 2011, Robert E. “Bobby B.” Boettcher, of Edgewater for 20 years and formerly of Annapolis, passed away suddenly at home. 
Born July 18, 1941 to the late Earl H. and Frances Boettcher, Bobby B. attended Annapolis High School and then worked at Westinghouse before becoming superintendent of Ferguson Trenching Company for 33 years. Bobby B. loved animals, had played softball for many years and was an avid scratch off lottery ticket player. 
Bobby B. is survived by his wife, Darlene Boettcher (nee Dammeyer) whom he married in 1967; his former wife, Carol VanCleve; son Christian Boettcher of Edgewater, daughter Mary Boettcher Ashton of Stevensville and brother Gregory Boettcher of Pasadena. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph H. Jewell, V, and a daughter Deborah Boettcher Young.

William (‘Bill’) Wendel Creighton passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at his home in Fort Washington, MD after coping with multiple severe health challenges.Bill was born December 5, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the eldest son of the Rt. Rev.
 William Forman Creighton and Marie Louise Forrest. He graduated from Marietta College with a B.A. in economics. While at Marietta he rowed on the Varsity Crew, and held summer jobs with the Coast And Geodetic Survey in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands. Bill then completed the major requirements for M.B.A. in accounting at American University in 1959.
 After college, Bill served in the US Navy as line officer on destroyers in the North Pacific and Far East.
 Bill then went on to work as an accountant at Price Waterhouse. Next he turned to Commercial Real Estate, first as a Salesman and Consultant, then Broker. He served as Vice President of a bank in Delaware and he built a few custom homes in Maryland and Virginia. In 1989 Bill started Creighton Associates, A Commercial Real Estate Asset Management and Brokerage Company. He was an Independent Commercial Real Estate Management Consultant for mortgage investors, banks and many large property development projects, working with foreign and domestic investors. He retired in 2010 to focus on home and family.
 
During his career he headed the development of Tantallon, the subdivision plan, Marina and Country Club, in Fort Washington, Maryland, and oversaw the completion of the project. There he and an associate mapped out and named all the roads, including’ Creighton Circle’, and he also built a few of his custom homes. He consulted on many large commercial real estate projects resulting in large auto service complexes in Maryland. Later he helped many new start-up business owners in Prince Georges County, Maryland get their businesses off the ground. However, one of Bill’s favorite accomplishments was his involvement in the mapping of the Aleutian Islands as part of the Coast And Geodetic Survey. William enjoyed restoring classic automobiles, a pastime he was able to share with his sons. He also enjoyed Jaguar cars and activities at the Jaguar Club with his wife, Joan. He enjoyed sailing and fishing, gardening, and Sunday dinners with as many family members and extended family could show up. Bill, with his wife Joan, who was his business partner at Creighton Associates, very much enjoyed the restoration and remodeling of their home to accommodate the ever-growing family on those Sunday visits.
 Bill is survived by his devoted wife Joan, who was also his loving caregiver during the last challenging year; and by his children, Mary, Ben, Ceci, Rob, Sarah and William; his grandchildren, Christie, Jessica, Joel, Tiffany, Benjamin, Mitch, Jake, Jeremy, Andrew, Joey, William, Leah, and James; his brothers, Michael and Max, many nieces and nephews and two great-grandchildren.
 A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church Broad Creek, 9801 Livingston Rd., Fort Washington, MD 20744. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, The Hospice Chesapeake.

Robert Anton Beuchert, age 87, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at his residence in Murells Inlet, SC.
Born in Washington, DC, he was a son of the late Fred and Anna Bauchert. Mr. Beuchert was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Beuchert was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge and the VFW. He enjoyed playing golf.
He was predeceased his 1st wife, Marion L. Baus Beuchert.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Beuchert of Murrells Inlet, SC; a daughter, Mary McGee of Georgetown, SC; sons, Robert A. Beuchert, Jr. of Lothian, MD, Michael (Rita) Beuchert of College Park, MD and George (Karen) Beuchert of Deming, NM; seven grandchildren and five stepchildren.

Hiltrud S. Rooney,”Ceddie/Trudi”, a 14-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Prince Frederick, MD died on Sunday, October 9, 2011 in Annapolis, MD of lung cancer. She was 69.
 
Born May 22, 1942, in Germany, to the late Stefan and Wilhelmine Sedlacek, Trudi moved to the United States in 1962. She was employed as a business manager for The Calverton School in Huntingtown, MD.
 
Trudi was predeceased by her 2nd husband, Roger M. Rooney, whom she married on October 7, 1994 and who died on January 29, 2010.
 
She is survived by one son, Peter Harris and his wife, Sheryl of Middletown, MD; three grandchildren, Anthony, Michael and Julia Harris; two sisters, Helgard Roell of Wuppertal, Germany and Hanne Klingenburg of Planckstadt, Germany; and her 1st husband, Anthony Harris.
 
A funeral service will held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2:45pm at Ft. Myer Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Vera Jean Massung Higdon, 82, a 52-year resident of Edgewater, died Sunday, October 9, at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood due to a stroke the previous week.

She was born June 6, 1929 in Westmoreland, PA to the late Carl and Allie Massung. In 1952, she married Thomas Higdon and together they raised four children.

Vera was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed gardening but her greatest passion was the time she spent with her family.

Vera was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, who died in 2004. She is survived by two sons, Terrance and Joel Higdon of Edgewater; two daughters, Diane Devine of Churchton and Donna Stearns of Severn; four brothers, Carl, James and Ronald Massung of Florida and Duane Massung of Pennsylvania; and three sisters, Peggy Chopp, Claire Meyers and Gail Rosa, all of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, T. J., Justin, Jamie and Jenna Higdon; Laurie Thompson; Thomas, Robert, Allie and Carly Devine; and Ethan and Sophie Stearns; and three great-granchildren.

Rita Faye Snyder Vance, a 35-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Virginia Beach, VA died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on October 9, 2011 after a sudden heart attack. She was 62.

Born June 9, 1949 in Valdosta, GA, she graduated from Northwestern High School. Rita was employed as a cafeteria worker at South River High School for 20 years. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, the Redskins, slot machines, R.V. camping, Soap Operas, murder mysteries, jet skiing and watching TV with her husband.

Rita was predeceased by her mother, Marie Snyder.

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Vance, Sr., whom she married on May 25, 1968; one son, Anthony Vance, Jr. and his wife, Olivia of Visalia, CA; one daughter, Lisa and her husband, Eugene Nash, III of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Richard Snyder, Jr. of Kent Island, MD; five grandchildren, Brandon and Adam Vance of Visalia, CA, and Jesse, David and Josephine Nash of Baltimore, MD; also survived by her father, Richard Snyder, Sr. of Edgewater, MD.

Charles Richard Longo, Sr., “Charlie”, a 29-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Laurel, MD died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on October 9, 2011.
 
Born February 1, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY, he was employed as the owner/operator of several tractor-trailer/driving vocational schools. At age 50, Charlie learned to ride horses and was the 2004 Barrel racing National Champion. He was a member of the Republican club and the National Barrel Horse Association. Charlie loved boating, photography, riding horses, swimming and making people laugh.
 
Charlie was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Longo.
 
He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Taylor-Longo, whom he married October 13, 2001; one son, Charles R. Longo, Jr. of Riva, MD; one daughter, Barbara Sweet of Pasadena, MD; one stepson, Gregory Taylor of Hagerstown, MD; one sister, Laureen Longo of Middle Village, NY; his first wife of 20 years, Linda Longo; he is also survived by numerous nieces.

Cynthia “Cindy” Bryan Jewel, 53, a 6-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Mitchellville, died of pancreatic cancer October 7 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

She was born July 4, 1958 in Camden, NJ to the late William and Margaret Stewart and graduated from Bowie High School. Cindy enjoyed gardening, music, dining out and traveling, especially taking trips to Atlantic City and Caribbean Ocean Islands. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Billy Stewart.

In addition to her husband, William P. Jewel, Cindy is survived by one son, William P. Jewel, Jr. of Bowie; two daughters, Jackie Zagami of Edgewater and Lauren Jewel of Annapolis; one sister, Muffie Andruczyk; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Katelynn Zagami.

Thomas “Tommy” Frederic Barry, 72, a 15-year resident of Deale, MD and previously of Fort Washington, MD, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at his home of Alzheimer’s disease after an 8-year illness.

He was born September 27, 1938 in Bangor, ME to the late Thomas and Sally Barry and graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, DC. Tommy served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Private. He worked as a Telecommunications Manager for Bell Atlantic (Verizon) and was a lifetime member and past president of South Gate Lions Club. He enjoyed boating and traveling.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by a brother, Robert Barry.

He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Barry, whom he married on October 1, 1960; a son, Thomas E. Barry and his wife Elizabeth Barry, and a grandson, Scott T. Barry, of Leesburg, VA.

Paul "P.K." Kenneth Foley, 82, of Frederick, MD and formerly of Waltham, MA, died September 24, 2011. He was born February 28, 1929 in Waltham, MA to the late Loretta and William Foley. Paul served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, rising to the rank of Major. In 1970, he was cleared to fly Air Force One while serving with the Airborne Command Post during the Nixon and Carter administration. He retired in 1976. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Mary Foley; three daughters, Lauren Foley, Patricia Ventre, and Christine Flowers; one son, Paul Foley, Jr. and three granddaughters.
